Mrs. Ebba Jo Frye Morrison
Mrs. Ebba Jo Frye Morrison, 87, of Shallotte, NC, passed away suddenly on the morning of August 13, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston Salem, NC.
Mrs. Morrison spent most of her life living in Lenoir, NC. She spent the last years of her life residing in Shallotte, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mrs. Bess Deal Frye and Mr. Perry Oscar Frye; her husband, Mr. Roderick Lee Morrison, and a son Mr. Alan Lee Morrison.
She was also preceded in death by Mrs. Jean F. Beach, sister, and Mr. Harold Frye and Mr. Max Frye, brothers.
She is survived by a daughter Mrs. Sheila M. Rowan and husband Mr. David K. Rowan, of Winston Salem, NC; a son, Randall W. Morrison and wife Sharyn B Morrison of Sunset Beach; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Linda S. Morrison, of Morehead City, NC; and Grandchildren:
Mr. Matthew D. Rowan & spouse, Amie B. Rowan of Winston Salem, NC, Mr. Jordan K. Rowan & spouse, Candace B. Rowan, Fleetwood, NC, Mr. Ross P. Rowan, Boone, NC,
Mrs. Alex M. Smith & spouse, Matt E. Smith, of Raleigh
Miss Christina L. Morrison, of Wrightsville Beach, NC, Mr. Isaac R. Morrison of Charleston, SC, Mr. Jacob B. Morrison of Sunset Beach, NC, Mr. Caleb R. Morrison of Sunset Beach, NC, Miss Bethany D. Morrison of Sunset Beach; great grandchildren, Heath, Joseph, Julia Kate and Elliott Rowan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 20, by The Rev. Brad Ferguson, at New Beginnings Church, Shallotte. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Our sincere thanks and gratitude to The Sticht Center of Winston Salem for your excellent care, Bermuda Run Healthcare & Rehab, Advance, for your expert and loving care, and to the doctors and nurses in the ED and CCU of Forsyth Medical Center for your excellent treatment and kindess to our loved one and family on the morning of August 13, 2011.

Mary Ludwina Tronetti
Mary Ludwina Tronetti, 54, of Calabash, NC died Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at her home.
Mrs. Tronetti was born February 14, 1957 in Syracuse, NY to the late Frank and Ludwina Weinman Foley. She was a Manager for Friendly’s Restaurant.
Surviving is her husband Donald Tronetti; a brother Michael Foley, wife Marian, of Syracuse, NY; two nieces; and two nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted Monday, August 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the S.P.C.A. of Wake County at 200 Petfinder Lane Raleigh, NC 27603.

Earl Harten Bowen
Earl Harten Bowen, age 90, passed away on August 1, 2011 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Whiteville. He was the son of the late William Columbus “Lummie” Bowen and Mattie Walker Bowen of Whiteville. He is survived by a brother David Floyd Bowen of Raleigh, several grandchildren, and nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his wife Bertha of Leland, two sons Larry and Barry of Shallotte, two brothers Claude of Whiteville, Henry Ferrell of Lake Gaston, VA, and one sister, Berniece Harrelson of Delco.
As a young teenager he was in a tragic automobile accident and lost his arm along with his younger brother David. They were among the first patients admitted to the new Columbus County Hospital in 1935. Though severely handicapped, he always worked to support his family. For many years he sold Rawleigh Products out of his car, travelling the rural communities throughout Columbus and Brunswick Counties. In later years he was employed at the Timme Plant in Wilmington until retirement.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Brunswick Funeral Service in Shallotte. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
Those who wish may make donations to Lower Cape Fear Hospice “Brunswick House” 1414 Physician’s Drive Wilmington, NC 28401 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Albert Carl Horne
Albert Carl Horne, 96, of Laurel Hill, NC, formerly of Shallotte, NC died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in the Scotland Memorial Hospital, Laurinburg, NC.
Mr. Horne was born April 11, 1916 in Dillon, SC to the late David A. and Cora Belle Bullock Horne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Thelma Powers Horne, his second wife Lizzie Mae L. Horne, and three sons J.D. Horne, Richard Ward, and Eugene Ward. He was a farmer and retired from the Department of Transportation after several years.
Surviving is his son Lee Roy Horne of Raleigh, NC; three daughters Mary Belle Freeman of Laurel Hill, NC, Elizabeth Holcombe of Clayton, NC and Carlene Ward Goodwin of Whiteville, NC; two daughter-in-laws Linda Ward of Whiteville, NC and Anna Mae Horne of Holden Beach, NC; a brother David “Sonny” Horne of Hope Mills, NC; a sister Esther Jackson of Lumberton, NC; eighteen grandchildren; twenty four great- grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 7, 2012 at 12:00 PM in the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel by the Reverend Robbie Stephens and the Reverend Lloyd (June) Grant. Interment will follow in the Whiteville Memorial Park, Whiteville, NC.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Johnny Michael “Mike” Light
Johnny Michael “Mike” Light, 49, of Ash, NC died Saturday, December 15, 2012 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cherry Point, NC on November 19, 1963 he was the son of Betty Gayle Tyree Grainger and Hopson Grainger of Longwood, NC. He was predeceased by a special nephew, Nicky Grainger.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman being a member of the Outback Shooting Range, Anthill Shooting Range and the National Rifle Association. He was employed the Brunswick County Board of Education as a Maintenance Carpenter, II.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife Renee Danford Light of the home; a daughter Michelle Light of the home; a sister Denise Somersett, husband Kevin, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; a special brother Rick Callender, wife Wendy of Ash, NC; his maternal grandmother Alpha Russ of Longwood, NC; his mother-in-law Judy Danford of Shallotte, NC; nephews Logan Somersett, Cody Danford, Ryan Danford and John Callender; and nieces Noa Somersett and Taylor Danford.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the Old Shallotte Baptist Church by the Reverend Landis Lancaster and the Reverend Ricky Danford. Burial will follow in Ganus Cemetery, Longwood, NC.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Casketbearers will be Ricky Callender, Kevin Somersett, Neil Long, David Danford, Brett Danford and Eddie Danford.
Honorary casketbearers will be Neil “C.P.” Clarke, Travis Potter, David Lee Tyree and Michael Adams.

David Earl Buffkin
David Earl Buffkin, 52, of Sunset Beach, NC died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Buffkin was born June 12, 1960 in Southport, NC to Lena Mae Carter Buffkin and the late Jimmy Earl Buffkin. He worked as a Groundskeeper for the Ocean Ridge Plantation Golf Course for many years.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his brother James Buffkin, wife Jane, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; a sister Becky Buffkin of Winston-Salem, NC; and two nephews Jordan and Taylor Buffkin.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church of Shallotte by the Reverend Barry Long and the Reverend Chris Stanley. Burial will follow in Longwood Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Casketbearers will be Jordan Buffkin, Taylor Buffkin, Kenny Holden, Lynn Gause, Gary Long and Neil Whaley. Honorary casketbearers will be the employees of the Ocean Ridge Plantation Golf Course.

JOHN PAPAIZ
John Papaiz age 83 of Nakina, N C passed away on Wednesday December 19, 2012 at his residence.
He was born in Italy on June 5, 1929 the son of the late Olivo Papais and Rosalia Fraulin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Del Sorbo Papaiz of 48 years, three brothers, Alfonso Papais, Celestino Papaiz and Remegio Papais.
Mr. Papiaz was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church in Shallotte, NC.
Surviving are a son, John Papaiz, (Pamela) of Buffalo, NY; a daughter, Rosalie Martin, (Jamie) of Whiteville, NC; three grandchildren, Mitchell Martin, Brinkley Martin and Mia Martin.
A mass of the resurrection will be held on Friday December 28, 2012 at St. Brendan Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday December 27, 2012 at Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte, NC .
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Arthur Edward “Art” Paige
Arthur Edward “Art” Paige, 90, of Calabash, NC, a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and Korea died Friday, December 21, 2012 in the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, Brunswick House.
Born in Waterbury, CT on April 28, 1922, he was the son of the late Vincent S. and Agnes Laukaite Puodziunas. After high school he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and retired in 1970, having served during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the service in 1960 before working for the Army as a civilian signal officer. He was preceded in death by his first wife Alice Rose Paige and his second wife, Janet Deaver.
Survivors include his wife Brenda Arnold Paige; two daughters, Nancy Ryan of MA, Susan Russell of VA; a son, Arthur E. Paige, II of VA; two grandsons, three great grandchildren, numerous step-children and step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in the Calabash VFW Post 7288, 900 Carter Drive, Calabash, NC. Inurnment will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the Quantico National Cemetery with military honors, Quantico, VA. Family asks that any memorial be made to the Wounded Warriors Project online or to the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Bolivia, NC

Lina Rachel Nord
Lina Rachel Nord, 88, of Shallotte, NC died Friday, December 28, 2012 in the SECU Hospice Center, Bolivia, NC.
Mrs. Nord was born March 24, 1924 in Columbus County, NC to the late Jesse and Mary Mae Ray Williams. She was a member of the Shell Point Baptist Church for many years.
Surviving is her husband Wayne Nord of Shallotte, NC; a son Albert Wayne Nord of Shallotte, NC; two daughters Tammey Jane Midkiff of Shallotte, NC and Nancy Stanaland, husband George, of Shallotte, NC; one brother Robert Williams of Longwood, NC; and two sisters Grace Barnes of Lake Waccamaw, NC and Esther Varnum of Supply, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Shell Point Baptist Church by the Reverend Tommy Inman and the Reverend Larry Milliken. Burial will follow in the Williams Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Elneda Mae Bottomley
Elneda Mae Bottomley, 89, formerly of Sunset Beach, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 in Hamden, CT.
She was born on March 27, 1923 in New Hanover County, NC, a daughter of the late Walter and Alice Gore Stanaland.
She retired as a school teacher.
Surviving are her two sons, Robert Walter Bottomley and Brett Scott Bottomley, both of North Haven, CT; brother, Darius Stanaland, of Thomasboro; sister, Verta Lee Bennett, of Calabash, and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 in the Stanaland-Frink Cemetery.
