Brenda Fay
Brenda Fay, 58, of Supply, died Monday, January 14, 2013 in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Fay was born on February 21, 1954 in New Brunswick, NJ, a daughter of the late Francis and Lillian Reichler Buckley. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Brian Fay at six months old, her “Prince”
Brenda settled with George in Holden Beach, North Carolina in 2006. They affectionately call Oyster Harbour their “Paradise”.
Brenda was very active in the Oyster Harbour Community and served on numerous committees. Community service only hints to the graciousness with which Brenda would help and care for others. Brenda had a love of cooking and has passed a novel of recipes collected over a lifetime to her cherished daughter Heather. While some of the measurements for ingredients indicate, “a bit” and “some” in Brenda’s own handwritten notes, Heather will carefully tend to the recipes and her mom’s unique method of adding ingredients to dishes. She hopes to one day make baked beans as delicious as her mom.
Her sense of humor was second to none and she often found humor in knick names, silly jokes and plays on words – Heather was “Boo-Fay” during Brenda’s pregnancy, a play on the word “buffet”. She called her Son-In-Law MFSIL”, aka My Favorite Son-In-Law, which is another funny since he was her one and only Son-In-Law. She loved seeing the reaction of bemused surprise on her friends and loved ones faces when she would “make a funny,” as she said.
Everyone that knew Brenda has been touched by her humor, caring, generosity and special friendship and love that she projected and gave of herself and will miss her just the same.
Brenda was so excited for the birth of her first granddaughter Madison Fay, daughter of Heather and Michael.
Seeing pictures of Madison lit up Brenda’s eyes and elevated her heart. Seeing video-chat with Madison brought Gramma peace and comfort. Holding Madison and meeting her fulfilled her life’s work as a mother and a wife. Her passing can never take those memories and achievements away.
Surviving are her husband, of 35 years, George E. Fay; daughter, Heather Ann Nardy, and husband, Michael, of Sag Harbor, NY; two sisters, Gail Magnant, of Allentown, PA, and Kathe Beegle, and husband, William, of Pinehurst; and a granddaughter, Madison Fay Nardy, and her beloved cat Dixie.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18th at the Oyster Harbor Clubhouse. A reception with the family will follow the service at the clubhouse.
