Allan Dwight Summers, 63, of 4607 Dow Court, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Summers retired from Defense Mapping Agency.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by Bishop James Costello. Arrangements are being handled by Cape Fear Crematory.

Mr. Summers is survived by his wife, Judith A. Summers of the home; two daughters, Beverly E. Wiggs and Katherine L. Kenney, both of Fayetteville; a son, Francis Jones Jr. of Norfolk, Va.; and a sister, Carolyn Brigers of Muskee, Va.

Mrs. Millie L. Hood (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

Mrs. Millie Barnes Lamb Hood, 86, of Len-Care Rest Home, Fayetteville, died Friday.

Arrangements will be announced by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Mrs. Docie Simpson (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

HAMPTON, Va. -- Mrs. Docie Simpson, 85, of Hampton, formerly of Bladenboro, N.C., died Thursday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Round Branch Baptist Church in Bladenboro. Burial will be in Johnson’s family cemetery in Bladenboro. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville, N.C.

Mrs. Simpson is survived by two daughters, Linda Robinson of Hampton and Lenora Williamson of Durham, N.C.; two brothers, Marshall Gore and Nathan Gore, both of South Carolina; and a sister, Janie Carter of South Carolina.

Hugh A. Barnes (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

FAIR BLUFF -- Hugh Alexander Barnes, 85, of Fair Bluff died Friday in Wilson Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Fair Bluff Methodist Church by Dr. Ray Lundy. Burial will be in Powell Cemetery.

Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Marilyn C. Barnes of Fair Bluff; two daughters, Beverly Barker of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Donna Dyer of Palm Coast, Fla.; and two sisters, Martha S. Williamson of Nichols, S.C., and Emaline Kelley of Florence, S.C.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Meares Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ida H. Beasley (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

ERWIN -- Mrs. Ida Hall Beasley, 88, of 409 W. E St. died Thursday in Good Hope Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Erwin Advent Christian Church by the Rev. Jim Wallace. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park.

Mrs. Beasley is survived by a son, James A. “Junior” Beasley of Erwin; a daughter, Louise Earnshaw of Raleigh; a sister, Chellie Hales of Salemburg; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Price Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Erwin Advent Christian Church, S. 16th St., Erwin, N.C. 28339.

Thomas T. Ritter (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

ROBBINS -- Thomas Theodore Ritter, 80, of 339 Smyrna Church Road died Wednesday in his home.

Mr. Ritter was a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church. He retired from Milliken Co.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Smyrna United Methodist Church by the Rev. J.R. Tatum. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Kennedy Funeral Home.

Mr. Ritter is survived by his wife, Maie G. Ritter of the home; a son, Ronnie Ritter of Robbins; a sister, Mattie Ritter of Robbins; and a brother, Fletcher Ritter of Robbins.

Mrs. Lela E. Blount (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Lela Ellis Blount, 89, of 1307 Muse St. died Friday in St. Joseph of the Pines.

Mrs. Blount retired from Burlington Industries.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in McDougald Funeral Home chapel by elder David McLamb. Burial will be in Gardens of Faith in Lumberton.

Mrs. Blount is survived by two sons, James C. Blount and Elbert M. Blount, both of Southern Pines; two daughters, Elsie Stephens of Laurinburg and Elouise Merchant of Ohio; three brothers, Harvey Ellis of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Leroy Ellis of Orange, Texas, and Cecil Ellis of Louisiana; a sister, Gladys Tobin of Myrtle Beach; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Robert D. Campbell (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

LAUREL HILL -- Robert David Campbell, 62, of 9620 Cameron St. died Thursday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Mr. Campbell was a minister at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a retired cabinet installer.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses by elder Robert Williams. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Kathleen C. Campbell; a son, Robert T. Campbell of Charlotte; three daughters, Diane Bailey of Laurinburg, Terry L. King of McColl, S.C., and Cynthia F. Caulder of Fayetteville; three brothers, Harold Campbell, Bernice Campbell and Wayne Campbell, all of Laurel Hill; six sisters, Betty Gordon, Nancy Douglas, Phyllis Sessoms and Carolyn Rollins, all of Laurel Hill, Delphia Honeycutt of Vass and Jeanette Smith of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McDougald Funeral Home in Laurinburg.

Sherwood Rouse (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

SANFORD -- Sherwood Rouse, 59, of 306 Rhynewood Drive died Friday in Central Carolina Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Larry Jones (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

LAUREL HILL -- Larry Jones, 47, of 15240 Hobbiton Road died Wednesday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Mr. Jones was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in Stewartsville Baptist Church by the Revs. Lewis McLean and Charles Wentz. A private burial will be in Roger’s Cemetery.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Peggy C. Jones of the home; four daughters, Christy H. Jones of Robbins, Shannon F. Jones of Maxton and Heather Jones and Nicole Jones, both of the home; his mother and stepfather, Ola M. and John A. McMillan of Laurinburg; two brothers, William S. Jones III of Laurel Hill and David S. Jones of Laurinburg; and two sisters, Patricia J. Powell of Wagram and Carolyn J. McMillan of Wilmington.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Boles Funeral Home and Crematory in Laurinburg.

Mrs. Emma H. McLean (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Emma Bell Hollingsworth McLean, 89, of 1816 Cockman Hill Road died Monday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Leach Springs Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. George W. Gilmore. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. McLean is survived by five daughters, Christine McLean, Daisey McLaughlin, Mary Jane Bethea and Doris Patterson, all of Raeford, and Ernestine Lowery of Fayetteville; six sons, William McLean, John McLean, L.C. McLean and Hurbert McLean Jr., all of Raeford, Freddie McLean of Greensboro and Jessie McLean of Trenton, N.J.; 28 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Buie Funeral Home.

J.D. McLean (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

SALEMBURG -- J.D. McLean, 81, of 120 Evergreen Church St. died Friday in Veterans Affairs Hospital in Durham.

Arrangements will be announced by Butler & Son Funeral Home of Roseboro.

Yancy M. ‘Yank’ Hodge (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

ROWLAND -- Yancy Middleton “Yank” Hodge, 79, of 2506 Persimmon Road died Thursday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Rowland First Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenny Byrd. Burial will be in Rowland Cemetery.

Mr. Hodge is survived by his wife, Lois B. Hodge of Rowland; five sons, Johnny Hodge of Southport, Mickey Hodge, Walter Hodge and Carroll Hodge, all of Rowland, and Mike Hodge of Red Springs; a daughter, Nancy Carter of Hamer, S.C.; three brothers, Braxton Hodge Jr. of Hyattsville, Md., Bill Hodge of Meritt, Fla., and Jack Hodge of Rowland; two sisters, Mary E. Wilson of Lumberton and Alma L. Baker of Melbourne, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Gaskins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cleta P. Stroud (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

PITTSBORO -- Mrs. Cleta Mae Parks Stroud, 83, of Fearington Village, formerly of Maxton, died Thursday in her home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Oak Grove Cemetery in Maxton by the Rev. Norvin Forester. Arrangements are being handled by McDougald Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stroud is survived by two sons, Larry Stroud of Fearington Village and Michael Stroud of Raleigh; a daughter, Patricia Croom of Chapel Hill; a sister, Chris Grosclose of Winston-Salem; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Dessie F. Hagans (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Dessie Fields Hagans, 89, of Bollinger Avenue died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Smyrna Baptist Church by the Revs. Charles Locklear and James Mitchell. Burial will be in Robeson Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hagans is survived by four sons, Mitchell Hagans, James E. Hagans, Harvey Hagans and William Hagans, all of Lumberton; three daughters, Annie R. Sours of Lumberton, Mary Reed of West Virginia and Ruby Letchworth of Chesapeake, Va.; two sisters, Sue Fields and Jessie B. Strickland, both of Lumberton; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Mrs. Sarah Carroll (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

PEMBROKE -- Mrs. Sarah Carroll, 78, of Sampson’s Rest Home died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Mrs. Carroll is survived by a son, Robert “Bob” Stancliff of Glendale, Md.; and two grandchildren.

Willie V. Lilly (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)

PARKTON -- Willie V. Lilly, 70, of Parkton died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by H.M. Colvin Funeral Home.
