AUTRYVILLE -- Mrs. Melvia C. Williams of 1805 Carroll Store Road died Friday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Clement Baptist Church by the Rev. James Dees Jr. Burial will be in Maxwell Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams is survived by two sons, Dixon Williams of Clement and Ellis Williams of Charlotte; two sisters, Lillian Francis of Bailey and Margaret Trow of Lady Lake, Fla.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Butler Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clement Baptist Church building fund.
Joseph C. Herring (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)
CONWAY, S.C. -- Joseph Carlton Herring, 66, of Watson Drive, formerly of Robeson County, N.C., died Thursday in Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Columbia.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Rehobeth Baptist Church. Burial with masonic rites will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Goldfinch Funeral Home.
Mr. Herring is survived by his wife, Thelma Herring of Conway; two sons, Don C. Herring of Galivants Ferry and Joseph C. Herring III of Southern Pines, N.C.; two daughters, Patricia A. Dean of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Peggy D. Herring of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, David Herring of Orrum, N.C.; seven sisters, Sandra Horne of Fayetteville, N.C., Mattie Palmer of Hope Mills, N.C., Hilda Byrd of Wilmington, N.C., Janice Jordan of Plymouth, N.C., Carolyn Hall of New London, N.C., Lavaughn Simmons of Albemarle, N.C., and Dorothy Grimsley of Orrum; and four grandchildren.

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Mrs. Odessa Baldwin of Elizabethtown Nursing Center, formerly of Bladenboro, died Friday.

William J. King (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)
MONCURE -- William Jasper King, 63, of Moncure, formerly of Spring Lake, died Sunday.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Spring Lake Community Mortuary by the Rev. James Scriven. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Spring Lake.
Mr. King is survived by four daughters, Deborah King of Angier and Joyce Olisa, Cathy Ray and Shenes Jones, all of Raleigh; two sons, William D. Ray of Raleigh and Thurman King of Florence, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Jacqueline Penny and Phyllis Glenn, both of Raleigh; a stepson, James Ray of Raleigh; his mother, Jennie M. King of Spring Lake; two sisters, Gertrude Meeks and Evelyn King, both of Spring Lake; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Belle B. Minter, 86, of 510 Shawtown Road died Monday.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Wesley Chapel AME Zion Church by the Rev. Leroy Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Payton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Minter is survived by two sisters, Bernice Ridgell and Dorthy Murchison, both of Lillington; and a brother, Harrison Ridgell of Lillington.

RAEFORD -- John Willie McRae, 46, of 327 St. Paul Drive died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wiseman Mortuary chapel in Fayetteville by the Rev. Ray Campbell. Burial will be in Community Cemetery.
Mr. McRae is survived by a brother, Murphy McRae Jr. of Raeford; and a sister, Gladys Tearry of Fayetteville.

Joe W. Wiggins Jr. (Dated Saturday, Oct. 31, 1998)
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -- Dr. Joe Wheeler Wiggins Jr., 79, of Jacksonville, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Oct. 21.
Dr. Wiggins grew up in Fayetteville. He served in the Army for two years, graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1947, and later served as a captain in the Air Force during the Korean War. He practiced dentistry for about 40 years in Jacksonville before retiring in 1987.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Dallas Wiggins of the home, and two children, Judge David Cary Wiggins of Jacksonville and Pamela Douglas Zipperer of Eureka, Calif.

Mrs. Honolulu Briles Canipe, 79, of 2222 Bayview Drive, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Canipe was a member of Haymount United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Springfield Friends Cemetery in High Point. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
Mrs. Canipe is survived by a daughter, Janet C. Durant of Wilmington; two sons, Ronnie E. Canipe of Fayetteville and David E. Canipe of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Helen B. Auman of High Point.

BENSON -- James K. Holliday, 60, of Benson died Sunday in Altalmonte Springs, Fla.

Mr. Holliday is survived by a daughter, Frances Johnson of Benson; three sons, Eddie Holliday and Thomas Frazier, both of Smithfield, and James R. Holliday of Oviedo, Fla; three sisters, Beulah Warren of Benson, Sarah Walden of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Frances Porter of Virginia; and five grandchildren.

WHITEVILLE -- Julius Cecil Green, 72, of 705 Oak Village Apts. died Wednesday in Columbus County Hospital.

SANFORD -- Frederick Alexander Rutledge, 78, of 1773 Manhattan Row died Wednesday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Mr. Rutledge is survived by his wife, Marlys Rutledge of Sanford; two sons, William Rutledge of Athens, W.Va., and Frederick Rutledge Jr. of Oak Hill, W.Va.; a daughter, Mary R. True of Cincinnati; and seven grandchildren.
