CLINTON -- Theo Bass, 84, of 2380 Wilson Road died Friday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bass was a retired farmer.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Piney Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bass is survived by his wife, Flossie Bass of Clinton; two sons, Glenn E. Bass and Norwood L. Bass, both of Clinton; four sisters, Elier Smith of Wilmington, Mae Parker of Richlands, Martha Benson of Benson and Nell Norris of Clinton; three brothers, Roy Bass, McCoy Bass and Silas Bass, all of Clinton; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1818 N. McCullen Road, Faison, N.C. 28341.

Willie J. Oxendine (Dated Friday, Oct. 30, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Willie Junior Oxendine, 44, of 283 Harley Road died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Oxendine was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was also a textile worker.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Liberty Baptist Church by the Revs. Keith Hunt, Jerry McNeill and Kenny Chavis. Burial will be in Pleasant View Church cemetery in Fairmont. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Funeral Services.

Mr. Oxendine is survived by his wife, Laura L. Oxendine of the home; four daughters, Anna L. Oxendine of Greensboro, Crystal G. Oxendine of Pittsboro and April N. Oxendine and Stephanie A. Oxendine, both of the home; his father, Willie W. Oxendine of Lumberton; three brothers, Danford Oxendine and John G. Oxendine, both of Lumberton, and Dallas R. Oxendine of Rowland; two sisters, Phyllis O. Hammonds of Lumberton and Lenora O. Smith of Pembroke; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Liberty Baptist Church.

Ms. Shirley C. Reimers (Dated Friday, Oct. 30, 1998)

ABERDEEN -- Ms. Shirley C. Reimers, 66, of Aberdeen died Thursday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Community Congregational Church. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.

Ms. Reimers is survived by two sons, Rocco Onorati of Carthage and Steven Onorati of Newport Richey, Fla.; three daughters, Sandra Rzucek, Sharon Onorati and Robynn Makely, all of Aberdeen; and 19 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 and Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines.

Rev. Hosea W. Faircloth (Dated Friday, Oct. 30, 1998)

HOFFMAN -- The Rev. Hosea W. Faircloth, 62, of Hoffman died Wednesday in his home.

The Rev. Faircloth was a charter member of the Hoffman Fire and Rescue.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Aberdeen. Burial will be in Blue’s Cemetery.

The Rev. Faircloth is survived by his wife, Edna H. Faircloth of Hoffman; two sons, Rickey Faircloth of Hoffman and Marshal Faircloth of Kernersville; two daughters, Sandy Marsh and Pansy Earnest, both of Hoffman; four brothers, Major Faircloth, Wilton Faircloth, Danny Faircloth and Junior Faircloth; and nine sisters, Wilma, Ruth, Clara Mae, Mary Lois, Peggy, Jo Anne, Maxine, Carolyn and Revonda.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines.

Antonio A. Gutliffe (Dated Friday, Oct. 30, 1998)

RED SPRINGS -- Antonio A. Gutliffe, 66, of 604 W. Fourth Ave. died Sunday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Sunday in McCalls Funeral Home in Bronx, N.Y. Burial will be in Calvert National Cemetery in Long Island, N.Y.

Mr. Gutliffe is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Gutliffe of Red Springs; two sons, Wilfred Gutliffe of New York and Derek Gutliffe of Georgia; six daughters, Michelle Gutliffe, Susan Gutliffe and Antoinette Gutliffe, all of New York, Vanessa Gutliffe of Virginia, Yvette Freeman of North Carolina and Laura S. Gutliffe of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; and four sisters, Edria Gutliffe of New York, Ellen Pickering of St. Thomas, Ethel A. Jones of Illinois and Lucille M. Wheatley of Deltona, Fla.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at L.E. Floyd Funeral Home.

John V. Carter (Dated Friday, Oct. 30, 1998)

CAMERON -- Ret. Army Staff Sgt. John Virgis Carter, 61, of 42 Patton Lane died Tuesday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mr. Carter was a member of Sanford Masonic Lodge No. 151 A.F. and A.M. He was also a member of the Lee County Scottish Rite Club.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Smith Funeral Home chapel in Broadway by the Rev. Tom Lee. Burial with masonic rites will be in Broadway Town Cemetery.

Mr. Carter is survived by a daughter, Debrah Browning of Cameron; a stepdaughter, Karen B. Craig of Cameron; a stepson, Sammy F. Sandow of Washington; a brother, Charles A. Sarka of Pomeria, S.C.; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Mamie Wood (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

Mrs. Mamie Wood, 91, of 5242 Covenwood Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Tucker and Sons Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Robert Brown. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Wood is survived by three nieces and a nephew.

The public will be received today from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Roy J. Hall (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

Roy J. Hall, 54, of Fayetteville died Tuesday.

Arrangements will be announced by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Richard D. Lee (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Richard Davis Lee, 68, of 6413 Winthrop Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in his home.

Mr. Lee was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. During his career he received a Bronze Star and a Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Main Post Chapel on Fort Bragg by Chaplain Cpt. Michael J. King. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife, Toshiko F. Lee of the home; two daughters, Nancy L. Duke and Pattie L. Sluder, both of Fayetteville; a son, Michael J. Lee of Fayetteville; five brothers, Lloyd Lee, Lewis Lee, Laird Lee and Leonard Lee, all of Newark, Ohio, and Leland Lee of Hawaii; three sisters, Maxine Hicks and Jackie Shaw, both of Newark, and Onieda Vinings of Chillicothe, Ohio; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Mrs. Inez C. Blackburn (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

Mrs. Inez C. Blackburn, 73, of 4930 Walnut Drive, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Blackburn was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. James Merkel and Dr. Robert Phipps. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Blackburn is survived by her husband, Dudley B. Blackburn of the home; two daughters, Carolyn B. Robertson and Linda B. English, both of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pearl Gulley (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

Mrs. Pearl Gulley, 65, of 612 Shortridge Road, Fayetteville, died Saturday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Carl Brinkley Jr. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Wiseman Mortuary.

Mrs. Gulley is survived by three daughters, Patricia A. Greer of Seaside, Calif., Linda D. Medious of Fayetteville and JoAnn Turnovsky of Millington, Tenn.; her mother, Rosie L. Watt of Columbus, Ga.; two brothers, Rosevelt Lamb of New York and Curtis Lamb of Columbus; a sister, Terry Jackson of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Mrs. Victoria McGrew, 74, of 810 Executive Place, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Mrs. Honolulu B. Canipe (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

Mrs. Honolulu Briles Canipe, 79, of 2222 Bayview Drive, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Darrell R. Brumfield (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

VIENNA, W.Va -- Darrell Randy Brumfield, 41, of Vienna, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Sunday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg.

Mr. Brumfield is survived by his wife, Nancy E. Brumfield of the home; two sons, Nicholas Brumfield and Daniel Brumfield, both of the home; a daughter, Emily A. Brumfield of the home; his parents, Darrell and Shirley Brumfield of Cameron, N.C.; two sisters, Ruhama Bord of Fayetteville and Patty Kelly of Sanford, N.C.; and a brother, Timothy R. Brumfield of Fayetteville.
