COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- Travis A. Adams, 22, of College Park, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Wiseman Mortuary chapel in Fayetteville. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 4 in Fayetteville.

Mr. Adams is survived by his mother and stepfather, Olivia and Frank Johnson of Fayetteville; his father, Willie Adams of Fayetteville; a sister, Tracey Blake of Atlanta; two brothers, Lonnie Blake of Fayetteville and Shawn Blake of Lillington, N.C.; his paternal grandmother, Lucy Adams of Fayetteville; and his maternal grandmother, Sarah McDonald of Fayetteville.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends at the home of Olivia Johnson, 873 W. Orange St. in Fayetteville.

Arthur M. Underwood (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

ROBBINS -- Arthur Mitchell Underwood, 71, of 268 Jim Road died Tuesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mr. Underwood was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired rural mail carrier.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Bethlehem Baptist Church by the Revs. Ernest L. Johnson Jr. and Bennie Maness. Burial will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Underwood is survived by his wife, Elgie W. Underwood of Robbins; a daughter, Sharon U. Mims of Julian; two sons, Dallas M. Underwood of Randleman and Joel A. Underwood of Robbins; a brother, Jacob A. Underwood of Sanford; four grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kennedy Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ladie M. Poe (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

STOCKTON, Calif. -- Mrs. Ladie Mae Poe, 81, of Stockton, formerly of Dunn, N.C., died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Dunn Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Dunn by the Rev. Alexander Lockamy. Burial will be in Bearskin Church cemetery in Clinton, N.C.

Mrs. Poe is survived by two daughters, Gwen Pittman and Marguerite Poe, both of Erwin, N.C.; two sons, Samuel Poe and Edgar A. Poe, both of New York; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 6 p.m. at Dafford Funeral Home chapel in Dunn.

Ms. Lois C. Gooden (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

SANFORD -- Ms. Lois Corinne Gooden, 72, of 606 N. Steele St. died Wednesday in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Abundant Life Christian Center by the Rev. Steve Rosser. Arrangements are being handled by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Ms. Gooden is survived by a brother, Daniel Gooden of Wyoming, Del.; and a sister, Ruth Will of Denton, Md.

Memorials may be made to FirstHealth Hospice of Lee County, P.O. Box 1181, Sanford, N.C. 27331-1181.

Mrs. Mary W. Smith (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

SOUTHERN PINES -- Mrs. Mary Willis Smith of 1860 W. New York Ave. died Tuesday in St. Joseph of the Pines.

Arrangements will be announced by Simon Funeral Home.

Richard T. Shipman (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

WHITEVILLE -- Richard T. Shipman, 73, of 607 Old Lumberton Road died Monday in Columbus County Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Peoples Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in George Cemetery.

Mr. Shipman is survived by two daughters, Beverly J. Rogers of Washington, D.C., and Drewhelen Jones of Bladenboro; three sons, Richard Shipman Jr., Freddie Shipman and Nevon Shipman, all of Whiteville; and two sisters, Charlotte Shipman of Raleigh and Artelia Shipman of New York.

Junior V. Graham (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

LAURINBURG -- Junior Vester Graham, 85, of 365 Knox St. died Monday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Spring Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Letaz S. Jones Sr. Burial will be in Nashville Cemetery in Marston. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. Graham is survived by three daughters, Norma Johnson, Elizabeth Graham and Shelia Gales, all of Durham; five sons, Kermit Graham, Hervey Graham and Archie Graham, all of Durham, Howard Graham of Denver and Eugene Graham of San Jose, Calif.; a brother, Willie Graham of Southern Pines; two sisters, Annie B. Harrington of Laurinburg and Lucy M. McCrimmon of Southern Pines; and 19 grandchildren.

Mrs. Alberta Goldston (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

SOUTHERN PINES -- Mrs. Alberta Goldston, 61, of 911 W. New York Ave. died Tuesday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Peters United Church of God by Bishop Larry Brown. Arrangements are being handled by Purcell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Goldston is survived by three daughters, Brenda Campbell of Hoffman and Cynthia Ramsey and Darlene Montomery, both of Southern Pines; a stepdaughter, Jenell Pratt of Eagle Springs; a son, Jessie Goldston Jr. of Southern Pines; eight brothers, Leon Williams and Robert Williams, both of Brooklyn, N.Y., Walker A. Williams of Bridgeport, Conn., Warren Williams, Leo Williams and Joseph Williams, all of Southern Pines, Gene Williams of Carthage and Darn Williams of Clinton; seven sisters, Patricia Scott of Irvington, N.J., Irene W. Oji of Bronx, N.Y., Maxine Kelly and Beulah Williams, both of Las Vegas, Jerlean Jones of Whispering Pines, Clara Spencer of Southern Pines and Delphine Harris of Pinehurst; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at House of Prayer in Taylor Town.

William C. Driver (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

DUNN -- William Scott Driver, 38, of 107 Jones Drive died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Joseph Hester and David Bailey. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Driver is survived by a daughter, Emily G. Driver of Cary; his mother, Betty G. Driver of Dunn; and a sister, Marion D. McMahon of Raleigh.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home.

Mrs. LaVanne McDermott (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

ROBBINS -- Mrs. LaVanne Burns McDermott, 63, of Robbins died Tuesday in Manor Care Health Center in Pinehurst.

Mrs. McDermott was a member of Elise Presbyterian Church. She was a town clerk in Robbins for 20 years and a dispatcher for the Robbins Police Department.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Elise Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Dawes Graybeal and James MacKenzie. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

Mrs. McDermott is survived by a son, James B. McDermott of Robbins; a daughter, Theresa B. Dunlap of Seagrove; a sister, Marsha B. Garner of High Falls; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Home.

PATERSON, N.J. -- Mrs. Eva Matthews Snow, 48, of Paterson, formerly of Eastover, N.C., died Tuesday.

Mrs. A. Mildred Dolbier (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Mrs. A. Mildred Dolbier, 88, of 717 Neil Ave., formerly of Lumberton, N.C., died Tuesday.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church in Lumberton by the Rev. Sam Warner. Burial will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.

Mrs. Dolbier is survived by two sons, Walter H. Dolbier of Concord, Mass., and William M. Dolbier of Westerville; a daughter, Shirley D. Moore of Long Island, N.Y.; a brother, William Berry of Massachusettes; and a sister, Olive Hoy of Massachusettes.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Biggs Funeral Home.

Willis Barnes (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

ORRUM -- Willis Barnes, 68, of Creek Road died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mr. Barnes was an Army veteran. He was also a retired farmer.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont by the Rev. Billy Blackmon. Burial will be in Floyd Memorial Cemetery in Fairmont.

Mr. Barnes is survived by two sisters, Louise B. Floyd of Lumberton and Gladys B. Rogers of Raeford.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mildred W. New (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Mildred Grey West New, 66, of 543 Mount Moriah Church Road died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in West Lumberton Baptist Church by the Rev. James May. Burial will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.

Mrs. New is survived by her husband, Armen L. New of the home; four sons, F.M. Davis of Orlando, Fla., Clyde W. Davis of Fayetteville and James Davis and Cecil Davis, both of Lumberton; five daughters, Pat Davis and Patricia Lapinskes, both of Garner, Bonnie Fuller and Donna Evans, both of Lumberton, and Wanda Bullard of Roseboro; three brothers, James West of Lumberton, LeRoy West of Leesville, S.C., and Bobby West of Fayetteville; four sisters, Alene Barber and Hildred Johnson, both of Fayetteville, Ruth Cook of Hope Mills and Betty Walters of Lumberton; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.
