LUMBER BRIDGE -- Mrs. Catherine Jacobs, 60, of 8100 Arabia Road died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Ms. Eula M. Buchanan (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)
NORFOLK, Va. -- Ms. Eula Mae Buchanan, 90, of Norfolk, formerly of Erwin, N.C., died Sunday in her home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church cemetery in Dunn, N.C., by the Rev. Hubert Morgan. Arrangements are being handled by Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home of Virginia Beach.
Ms. Buchanan is survived by a daughter, Ethel Shiflott of Chesapeake; and three sons, Dal Massengill of Virginia Beach, Gerald Massengill of Arizona and Paul Massengill of Chesapeake.
Lonnie E. McDaniel (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)
SANFORD -- Lonnie E. McDaniel, 76, of Route 22, Dragonfly Lane, died Wednesday in Central Carolina Hospital.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the family cemetery.
Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife, Clarice O. McDaniel of the home; five daughters, Sonja DeMoss and Debbie Fraizer, both of Florida, Janie Nicholson of Tennessee and Mary Markwell and Shirley McDaniel, both of Sanford; six sons, Bennie Markwell, Johnny Markwell, Randy Markwell and Rick Markwell, all of Indiana, and Steve Markwell and Eddie Markwell, both of Sanford; four brothers, Tom McDaniel of Florida, Charles McDaniel and Jimmy McDaniel, both of Texas, and Bobby McDaniel of Arkansas; a sister, Genovieve McDaniel of Arkansas; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home in Lillington.

CLINTON -- Randolph S. McDoe, 78, of 524 Byron-Butler Court died Wednesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Louise Harrington (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)
LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Louise Harrington, 66, of 509 N. Caledonia Road died Sunday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Ingram. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Harrington is survived by four sons, Leroy Washington, Larry Washington and Tony Washington, all of Laurinburg, and Robert Washington of Gibson; three daughters, Betty McLaughlin and Louise Purnell, both of Laurinburg, and Phyllis Graham of Gibson; four brothers, James Harrington, Theodore Harrington and Robert Harrington, all of Laurinburg, and Leroy Harrington of Atlantic City, N.J.; five sisters, Beula Cureton, Mildred Thomas and Doris Dockery, all of Laurinburg, Maria McKoy of New Haven, Conn., and Annie Hailey of San Francisco; and several grandchildren.

CLINTON -- Hugh Oliver Williams, 70, of Mary Gran Nursing Center, formerly of Autryville, died Monday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Autryville by the Rev. Robert Jones. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Williams is survived by seven sisters, Trinia Graham of Fayetteville, Pauline Brown, Betty Williams and Adean Autry, all of Salemburg, and Alease Autry, Susan Autry and Lydia Gibson, all of Autryville; and four brothers, James Williams, R.C. Williams and Donnie Williams, all of Autryville, and Bobby Williams of Salemburg.
The public will be received today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Dafford Funeral Home in Dunn.

NEWARK, N.J. -- Mrs. Esther Ray, 63, of Newark, formerly of St. Pauls, N.C., died Oct. 22 in St. Elizabeth Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Shiloh Baptist Church in St. Pauls by the Rev. James Robinson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cunningham & Sons Mortuary of Fayetteville, N.C.
Mrs. Ray is survived by a son, Jamaal “Clinton Ray” Shakir of Newark; her mother, Pherby Glover of St. Pauls; a sister, Shirley P. Glover of Irvington; a brother, James Glover of St. Pauls; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A wake will be held tonight from from 7 to 9 at the church.
Derek J. Parker (Dated Thursday, Oct. 29, 1998)
CLINTON -- Derek J. Parker, 14, of 38 Tarheel Drive died Monday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Holly Grove Church of Christ/Disciples of Christ by elder Terrell Powell. Burial will be in Sandhills Cemetery.
Derek is survived by his parents, Johnny L. and Angela Parker of the home; a sister, Adrienne Parker of the home; his maternal grandmother, Marie Jacobs of Clinton; his paternal grandfather, Robert E. McLean of Clinton; and his paternal grandmother, Willa D. McLean of Salemburg.

Mrs. McIver is survived by a stepson, Alvin McIver of Fayetteville; and two stepdaughters, Thelma McIver of Liberty and Jeannine Parker of Fayetteville.

Mr. Blue is survived by his wife, Gerelene S. Blue of the home; five daughters, Diane Haywood of California, Joyce Smith and Diane Blue, both of Fayetteville, Kathleen Hemingway of Linden and Grace Blue of Georgia; a son, Anthony Blue of Lumberton; his mother, Hunter Blue of Fayetteville; two sisters, Sarah Davis and Barbara A. Ruth, both of Fayetteville; two brother, James Blue and George Blue, both of Fayetteville; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Florence F. Beaty (Dated Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998)
Mrs. Florence Ferry Beaty, 77, of Fayetteville died Monday in Whispering Pines Nursing Home.
Mrs. Beaty retired from United Carolina Bank.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. John Tyson.
Mrs. Beaty is survived by her husband, Robert H. Beaty of Fayetteville; a son, Robert H. Beaty of Fayetteville; a sister, Ann Swain of Charlotte; a brother, Charles L. Beaty of Charlotte; and three grandchildren.

George M. McDermott Jr. (Dated Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998)
SANFORD -- George Martin McDermott Jr., 77, of 1910 Sutphin Road died Monday in Pinehurst Nursing Center.
Mr. McDermott was a lawyer. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving as a pilot in the Marine Corps.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church by Dr. Carl Rush. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.
Mr. McDermott is survived by his wife, Barbara H. McDermott of Sanford; three sons, James R. McDermott of Southern Pines, Dr. William M. McDermott of Pinehurst and Kyle M. McDermott of Clayton; a daughter, Mary B. Staunton of Thomasville; a sister, Mary M. Edwards of Vass; two brothers, John M. McDermott of Hickory and Hugh A. McDermott of Alexandria, Va.; and 10 grandchildren.
