LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Bertha Grooms, 84, of 810 N. Main St. died Monday in Century Care.
The funeral was conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Butler Funeral Service chapel by the Revs. Kenneth Blease and Gerald Polston. Burial was in Hillside Memorial Park.
Mrs. Grooms is survived by a son, Fairley Grooms of Laurinburg; a daughter, Frances Willoughby of Laurinburg; and two sisters, Louise Jackson and Ruth Gordy, both of Laurinburg.
Hugh Parrish (Dated Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998)
DUNN -- Hugh Parrish, 71, of 105 North Westfield Drive died Tuesday.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Skinner Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Parrish is survived by three sons, Mike Parrish, Gary Parrish and Al Parrish, all of Dunn; a brother, Enos Parrish of Benson; and two grandchildren.

LUMBERTON -- Elbert Junior Emanuel, 63, of 2800 Rozier Church Road died Monday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Emanuel was a farmer.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Bethel Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Emaunel is survived by his wife, Mildred Emanuel of the home; three daughters, Cathleen Emanuel of Lumberton, Beverly Emanuel of Shannon and Margaret Freeman of Fairmont; a son, Elbert R. Emanuel of home; five brothers, Eartle Emanuel and Glenn Emanuel, both of Shannon, Gene Autrey, Jessie Emanuel and Earl Emanuel, all of Lumberton; and three sisters, Dollie Emanuel of St. Pauls, Mary Chavis of Shannon and Margaret Collins of Lumberton; and five grandchildren.

CLINTON -- Mrs. Eulalia S. Butler, 86, of Clinton died Tuesday in Forest Trail.
Mrs. Butler was a school teacher. She was a member of Mount Moriah Methodist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mount Moriah Methodist Church by the Revs. Andy Wood and Johnny Armstrong. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Butler is survived by a son, James H. Butler of Clinton; two sisters, Lalyce Rhodes of Raleigh and Leora Baggett of Kenley; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

THOMASVILLE -- Isaac Lee “I.L.” Edge Jr., 71, of 1004-D Liberty Arms, formerly of Hope Mills, died Friday in Community General Hospital.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Gilmont Cemetery in Hope Mills by the Rev. Harvey Turlington.
Mr. Edge is survived by four sons, Ikey Edge III and Phillip Edge, both of Cowpens, S.C., William J. Edge of Bennettsville, S.C., and Randy Edge of Fort Mill, S.C.; a sister, Lee Mabe of Hope Mills; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Clifton is survived by six daughters, Kathleen Blanton of Turkey, Ethel Brunson of Hampton, S.C., Ruth King of Lake Hamilton, Fla., Jewell Sutton of Clinton, Joyce Perry of Raleigh and Elgie Dickan of Frankford, N.Y.; four sons, Eugene Clifton of Laurinburg, Radford Clifton and Harold Clifton, both of Turkey, and Carliss Clifton of Goldsboro; a sister, Myrtle Register of Marion; a brother, Norwood Carroll of Turkey; 45 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; and 41 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by a son, Dale A. Mitchell of Fayetteville; three daughters, Pattie M. Cameron of Southern Pines, Louise M. Garrison of Lenior and Donna M. Simmons of Roxboro; three brothers, Matao Nakamura and Yochio Nakumura, both of Honolulu, and Mataro Nakumura of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; three sisters, Matsue Pacopac and Gwen Kamei, both of Honolulu, and Gracie Mentzer of Yellow Springs, W.V.; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Wagner is survived by a son, Brent L. Wagner of La Marque, Texas; a daughter, Deanne Mikel of Rex, Ga.; two brothers, Vernal L. Wagner of Dayton, Ohio, and Donald Wagner of Arizona; two sisters, Vivian L. Manning of Colorado and Frances M. Davis of Sun City, Ariz. and five grandchildren.

Ms. Shipman is survived by eight sisters, Clara M. Johnson of Baltimore, Margaret Williams of Whiteville and Ida Freeman, Barbara Purdie, Kathleen Ryals, Carolyn Smith, Janice Graham and Monica Brown, all of Bladenboro; and a brother, Richard Shipman of Bladenboro.
