BENSON -- Mrs. Eura Mae Messer Webb, 75, of 4379 N.C. 50 South died Tuesday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.
Mrs. Webb was a homemaker and a member of Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Ralph Strickland. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Webb is survived by her husband, Marvin Webb; a daughter, Harriette W. Matthews of Benson; a son, Mark D. Webb of Benson; two sisters, Alice Wargo of Fayetteville and Vada Suggs of Benson; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Mark and Donna Webb, 4399 N.C. 50 South in Benson.
Mrs. Ruby S. Mercer (Dated Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998)
WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Ruby Sellers Mercer, 76, of 2794 Thompson Town Road died Tuesday in Columbus County Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Worthington Funeral Home by the Rev. James O. Tyree. Burial will be in Mercer Cemetery in Chadbourn.
Mrs. Mercer is survived by two daughters, Annie R. Buffkin of Whiteville and Hazel Henrickson of Grand Marsh, Wis.; two brothers, Lonzie R. Sellers of Tabor City and Ralph D. Sellers of Denton; a sister, Katie Nealey of Thomasville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dale C. Phifer (Dated Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998)
PINEHURST -- Mrs. Dale Crowell Phifer, 89, of Pinehurst died Monday in her home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Fla. Burial will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home.
Mrs. Phifer is survived by a son, the Rev. Homer C. Phifer Jr. of Pinehurst; a brother, Julius Crowell of Hamlet; three sisters, Emma L. Utter of Hamlet, Evelyn Lewis of Palm Coast, Fla., and Louise Anderson of Jacksonville; a grandson; and two great-grandsons.

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Willie M. Cureton, 83, of 8900 Hasty Road died Wednesday in Century Care of Laurinburg.

SANFORD -- Eulace Edward Reece, 75, of 700 Westover Drive died Tuesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Olivia Presbyterian Church by the Revs. George Walton and Ricky Chappell. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Reece is survived by a son, Tommy Reece of Broadway; a daughter, Linda Wicker of Sanford; two brothers, Ted Reece of Sanford and Bobby Reece of Sumter, S.C.; two sisters, Ruby Davis of Fredrick, Md., and Shirley Page of Broadway; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Vivian G. Thompson (Dated Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998)
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Mrs. Vivian Gayle Thompson, 54, of 2401 Brushy Creek Road, formerly of Bladen County, N.C., died Tuesday in Greenville Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Shady Grove Baptist Church in Bladenboro, N.C. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband, Jack A. Suggs of the home; a son, Bryan Suggs of the home; four brothers, Douglas Thompson and Dorwood Thompson, both of Bladenboro, Jelder Thompson of Morehead City, N.C., and David Thompson of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Alma J. Smith and Ann Dulin, both of Charlotte; and a granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Lewis-Bowen Funeral Home in Bladenboro.

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Mabel Ratley Tew, 84, of the N.C. Cancer Institute, formerly of Raeford, died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church by the Revs. Don Satterwhite and Billy Beaver. Burial will be in Raeford Cemetery.
Mrs. Tew is survived by two sons, Charles B. Tew of Lumberton and James R. Tew of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter, Betty J. Hall of Lumberton; 13 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

WILSON -- Earl S. McDaniel Sr., 80, of Wilson died Tuesday.

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Joyce Ann Thompson, 68, of 158 Windy Hill Lane died Wednesday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills by Father Mark Bette. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband, Leonard Thompson; five sons, Terry Pixley and Jerry Thompson, both of Fayetteville, Jeff Pixley of Machias, N.Y., Lenny Thompson of Danielson, Conn., and Mike Thompson of Raeford; a brother, Vincent Searle Jr. of Cuba, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

WILMINGTON -- Retired Army Master Sgt. Gerald L. “Jerry” Slate, 59, of 4933 Richardson Drive, formerly of Hope Mills, died Tuesday.
Mr. Slate was a member of Hope Mills United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Hope Mills United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jay Winston. Burial with military honors will be in Hope Mills Cemetery.
Mr. Slate is survived by two sons, Chad Slate of Wilmington and Terry Slate of Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D.; five brothers, Donald Slate of Inverness, Fla., William Slate of Pittsburgh, Richard Slate and Thomas Slate, both of Binghamton, N.Y., and Charles Slate of Vandling, Pa.; three sisters, Betty Burchell of Johnson City, N.Y., Alice Williams of Wellsville, N.Y., and Jane Palmer of Binghamton; and a granddaughter.

ROBBINS -- Mrs. Willie Edwards Williams, 82, of 121 Frye St. died Tuesday in Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation in Carthage.
Mrs. Williams was retired from Belk.

Mrs. Williams is survived by a sister, Lois Smith of Wadesboro.
