Mrs. Mollie R. Tyner (Dated Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Mollie Ransom Tyner, 86, of 550 Bailey Road died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Floyd Memorial chapel by the Rev. Elmer Joyner. Burial will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.

Mrs. Tyner is survived by a son, William K. Tyner of Harlingen, Texas; two daughters, Nadine T. Haydon of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Norma Todd of Lumberton; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Wilton G. Oldham (Dated Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998)

SANFORD -- Wilton Gaines Oldham, 63, of 827 S. Franklin Drive died Tuesday in Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Rogers Memorial chapel by the Rev. Terry Bryant. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.

Mr. Oldham is survived by two sons, Christopher T. Oldham of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Raymond B. Oldham of Greensboro; a daughter, Chrystal A. Oldham of Sanford; a sister, Michele Sloan of Sanford; two brothers, Reid Oldham and Ernest P. Oldham Jr., both of Sanford; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Miss Michelle Cagle (Dated Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998)

NEW YORK -- Miss Michelle Cagle, 34, of New York, formerly of Sanford, N.C., died Tuesday.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford.

Miss Cagle is survived by her father, Claude Cagle of Sanford; a sister, Rachel C. Nickells of St. Matthews, S.C.; and a brother, Chet Cagle of New York.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home in Sanford.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Ms. Shirley M. Hubbard (Dated Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998)

LAURINBURG -- Ms. Shirley Mae Hubbard, 59, of 1022 B Tara Drive died Tuesday in Morgan Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Wagram Emmanuel Holiness Church by the Revs. Ronnie Norton and Glenn Odom. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery in Dillon, S.C.

Ms. Hubbard is survived by two brothers, Marion Hubbard and Clayton Hubbard, both of Dillon; and three sisters, Margaret Williams of Dillon and Joyce A. Elliott and Mary L. Wykle, both of Latta, S.C.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Service.

Brady Locklear (Dated Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998)

ST. PAULS -- Brady Locklear, 63, of 14221 U.S. 301 North died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mr. Locklear was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed by Burlington Mills.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church by the Revs. Sterling Chavis and Romey L. Revels. Burial will be in St. Anna Freewill Baptist Church cemetery in Pembroke.

Mr. Locklear is survived by his wife, Irene W. Locklear of the home; a son, Gregory Locklear of St. Pauls; a daughter, Connie L. Hinson of Parkton; two brothers, Douglas Locklear and Gilbert Locklear, both of Fayetteville; two sisters, Pauline Davis and Delma Locklear, both of Fayetteville; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Biggs Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Mittie W. Clayborne (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998)

Mrs. Mittie W. Clayborne, 86, of 421 Langdon St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Whispering Pines Nursing Home.

Mrs. Clayborne retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Haymont Presbyterian Church by the Rev. James Belle. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Paye Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Clayborne is survived by a foster brother, John Jenkins of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Essie P. Welch (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998)

ROBBINS -- Mrs. Essie Purvis Welch, 89, of 404 Green St. died Monday in her home.

Mrs. Welch was a dietitian at North Moore High School.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church by the Revs. Clarence Garner and Joe Casteel. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Welch is survived by two sons, Charles R. Welch of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Farrell L. Welch of Robbins; a daughter, Mary E. Comer of Aiken, S.C.; a brother, Edgar Purvis of Bennett; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kennedy Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, 1535 N. Moore Road, Robbins, N.C. 27325.

Joel E. Smith (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998)

NEWARK, N.J. -- Joel E. Smith, 56, of Newark, formerly of Bolton, N.C., died Thursday.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Townsend Temple First Born Church in Bolton by elder Alfred Smith. Burial will be in Townsend Temple Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville, N.C.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mary H. Smith of the home; four sons, Kelvin Smith and Joel E. Smith Jr., both of Newark, Wayne Jacobs of Bolton and Gregory Harrison of Great Falls, S.C.; a daughter, Brandy Gray of Bolton; four brothers, Ezell Smith, Clarence Smith, Theodore Smith and Alfred Smith, all of Bolton; and two sisters, Patricia Best of Bolton and Shirley Geiger of Hallsboro, N.C.

Andrew L. Jones (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998)

COUNCIL -- Andrew L. Jones, 69, of 1584 Microwave Tower Road died Saturday in LCF Hospice Care Center in Wilmington.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Shady Grove AME Zion Church by the Rev. Marjorie Powell. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery in Clarkton. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Alene Jones of the home; a son, Lysander Jones of Middletown, Del.; and a sister, Phyllis Mitchell of Killeen, Texas.

William E. Pace (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998)

LILLINGTON -- William Eugene Pace, 55, of 140 Pace Lane died Sunday in Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.

Mr. Pace was the director of store development for Family Dollar Stores before starting Pace Construction.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Barbecue Presbyterian Church by the Rev. David Sherrod. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Pace is survived by a son, John Pace of Raleigh; his mother, Callie Pace of Lillington; and four sisters, Lorena Batchelor and Rudine Miller, both of Sanford, Estine Thomas of Olivia and Magdline O’Quinn of Broadway.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Miller Funeral Home in Sanford.

Mrs. Ernestine Davis (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998)

HAMLET -- Mrs. Ernestine Davis, 79, of Hamlet died Sunday in Carolina Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Nelson Funeral Service.

Mrs. Minnie B. Tuton (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998)

CHADBOURN -- Mrs. Minnie Bullard Tuton, 81, of 2092 Old Stake Road died Monday in Cape Fear Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in China Grove Baptist Church by the Revs. Sidney Britt and Charles Dudley. Burial will be in Horne Cemetery.

Mrs. Tuton is survived by a son, Henry J. “Billy” Tuton of Chadbourn; a daughter, Jean T. Shaw of Chadbourn; a sister, Opal Hardee of Bennettsville, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Worthington Funeral Home.

Ms. Barbara C. Taylor (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998)

REX -- Ms. Barbara J. Currie Taylor, 52, of Box 44 died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Curtis Henderson. Burial will be in the St. John Church cemetery in Shannon.

Ms. Taylor is survived by two sons, Michael A. Taylor and David W. Taylor, both of Rex; and three stepdaughters, Lorie Blanks, Mary Blanks and Beverly Blanks.

The family will receive friends today from 10 a.m. to noon at McKoy & Sons Mortuary in St. Pauls.

Steven R. Grobe (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998)

Steven Richard Grobe, 47, of 1405 General Lee Ave., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A graveside service will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake by the Rev. Albert Bean. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Mr. Grobe is survived by his mother, Elaine S. Grobe of Fayetteville; and a sister, Mary G. Yersak of Hope Mills.

Paul E. Harper (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1998)

ST. PAULS -- Paul Edward Harper, 66, of 411 W. McLean St. died Sunday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Cornerstone Holiness Church by the Revs. David Hodge and Pete McMillan. Burial will be in the Green Springs Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Harper is survived by his wife, Freddie Harper of St. Pauls; two daughters, Paulette Jergens and Becky Towne, both of Des Moines, Iowa; six sons, Rick Harper, Joel Harper, Jeff Harper, Danny Harper, Douglas Harper and Tim Harper, all of Des Moines; six stepsons; five stepdaughters; 13 grandchildren; 27 step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McNeill Funeral Home and at other times in the home.
