Earl Wayne Melvin, 73, of 2143 Dillon Drive, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Melvin was a member of the Fayetteville Aeromodeling Society R.C. Club.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. Wayne Chandler and Clyde Hayworth. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.
Mr. Melvin is survived by his wife, Patsy L. Melvin of Fayetteville; three daughters, Judith M. Phurrough of Hope Mills, Kathy M. Luck of Kennesaw, Ga., and Robin M. Little of Fayetteville; two sisters, Mattie B. Morrison of Hughson, Calif., and Mae Hudson of Erwin; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Steven Richard Grobe, 47, of 1405 General Lee Ave., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Thomas E. Gerald Sr. (Dated Monday, Oct. 19, 1998)
Thomas Eugene “T.G.” Gerald Sr., 45, of 1401 Thelbert Drive, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Lewis Chapel Baptist Church by Dr. John D. Fuller. Burial will be in Northside Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Wiseman Mortuary.
Mr. Gerald is survived by a son, Thomas Gerald Jr. of Erwin; his father, Robert Gerald of Fayetteville; two brothers, Robert R. Gerald Jr. of Lillington and Dock Gerald of Inglewood, Calif.; and a sister, Charmaine Houston of Hollywood, Calif.
William F. Pajak (Dated Monday, Oct. 19, 1998)
Retired Army Command Sgt. Maj. William Francis Pajak, 77, of Fayetteville died Saturday in his home.
Mr. Pajak was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
The funeral will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by Dr. E. Glen Holt. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
Mr. Pajak is survived by two daughters, Sandru G. Jones of Paris, Tenn., and Dean Buckley of Durham; a son, Brian G. Pajak of Durham; two sisters, Anne Gentzhorne of Indiana and Julia Shallon of Chicago; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Albert Victor Jones, 79, of 363 Canady St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Cumberland Memorial Gardens by Dr. Ronald Loftis.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Ruth C. Jones; two daughters, Mary Holland of Hope Mills and Elizabeth Hurley of Fayetteville; two sons, Daniel Cameron and John Cameron, both of Fayetteville; a brother, Buster Jones of Gordo, Ala.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.

Henry W. McMillan, 83, of Route 1, Box 313, Fayetteville, died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. McMillan was a retired school worker.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Zion Church in Eastover by the Rev. Otis McMillan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. McMillan is survived by two daughters, the Rev. Rosa McKoy of Gautier, Miss., and the Rev. Linda Locke of Fayetteville; four sons, Elton McMillan of Fayetteville, Felton McMillan of Philadelphia, Wendolyn McMillan of Detroit and Otis McMillan of Laurinburg; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Miss Elsie F. Russell (Dated Monday, Oct. 19, 1998)
SPRING LAKE -- Miss Elsie M. Foy Russell, 53, of 510 Pine Tree Lane died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Friendship Baptist Church in Fayetteville by the Rev. S. Lee Downing. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
Miss Russell is survived by her mother, Janie Foy of Fayetteville; two sisters, Janice F. King and Novella Y. Foy, both of Fayetteville; and five brothers, Robert Foy and Maurice Foy, both of Fayetteville, Larry Foy and Eugene Foy, both of Laurel, Md., and William G. Foy of Browns Mills, N.J.
The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary in Fayetteville.
Dan R. Thomason Sr. (Dated Monday, Oct. 19, 1998)
PINEHURST -- Dan Richardson Thomason Sr., 76, of Pinehurst, formerly of Fayetteville, died Saturday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Mr. Thomason was an Air Force veteran of World War II. After the war, his family moved its business, Thomason Plywood Inc., from Wilmington to Fayetteville. During his career he served as chairman of the N.C. State Ports Authority. He was also a past president of Highland Country Club in Fayetteville.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville by Dr. James C. Cammack. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
Mr. Thomason is survived by his wife, Alice W. Thomason of the home; two daughters, Trish Westbrook of Kernersville and Sally Cammack of Fayetteville; a son, Dan R. Thomason Jr. of Pinehurst; two stepdaughters, Ann H. Little and Alice H. Chesnutt, both of New Bern; a stepson, Hugh A. Holman of Greensboro; two sisters, Byah Doxey of Spartanburg, S.C., and Mrs. John Huske of Fayetteville; two brothers, Bonner H. Thomason Jr. and Raymond B. Thomason, both of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.

VASS -- Retired Air Force Maj. William B. Ridge, 68, of Vass died Thursday in his home.

Mr. Ridge is survived by his wife, Faye A. Ridge of Vass; two sons, William B. Ridge II of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Clark D. Ridge of Glen Allen, Va.; two sisters, Frances Queen of Liberty and Catherine Glenn of Los Angeles; and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Mary Jane Milligan (Dated Monday, Oct. 19, 1998)
ELIZABETHTOWN -- Mrs. Mary Jane Butler Milligan, 86, of 301 Lower St. died Saturday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.
Mrs. Milligan was a cook at Sanford Convalescent Center for 35 years.
A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in the Community Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. James B. Hardee. Arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Milligan is survived by a sister, Annie B. Storms of Bladenboro.

AUTRYVILLE -- Willis Carl Odom, 75, of 839 Vander Road died Saturday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mr. Odom was a member of the American Legion.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Union Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Paul Honeycutt. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Odom is survived by his wife, Marie S. Odom of the home; four daughters, Margaret Lucas of Sweet Springs, Mo., Peggy Dickerson and Wandella Royal, both of Autryville, and Barbara Jenkins of Stover, Mo.; five sons, Willis C. Odom Jr. and Steve Odom, both of Autryville, William H. Odom and Glenn Odom, both of Fayetteville, and Wayne Odom of Bennettsville, S.C.; two sisters, Girlene Bowman of Manassas, Va., and Myrtle Morris of Cary; 26 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ada G. Thurman (Dated Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998)
Mrs. Ada Lee Goff Thurman, 84, of 406 Law Road, Fayetteville, died Saturday in her home.
Mrs. Thurman was a minister and an associate pastor at Northwood Temple Church. She taught in Fayetteville schools before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Northwood Temple Church by the Rev. John E. Hedgepeth. Burial will be in Falcon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Adcock Funeral Home of Spring Lake.
Mrs. Thurman is survived by a son, Carl W. “Woody” Thurman II of Laurel Hill; a daughter, Charlotte T. Iaquinta of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Ruby Walter of Fort Worth, Texas, Laura Banko of Spring Lake and Mundy Cloke of Seattle; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Austin of Maryland Heights, Mo., and Georgia J. Betts of Alvin; three stepbrothers, Anthony DeRouen, James DeRouen and John DeRouen, all of Houston; and 11 grandchildren.
