Army Spc. Martin J. Ashton, 22, of Fort Bragg died Tuesday in Womack Army Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by LaFayette Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Elsie M. Russell (Dated Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998)

SPRING LAKE -- Mrs. Elsie Marie Russell, 53, of 510 Pine Tree Lane died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Honore P. Glemaker (Dated Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998)

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Honore Palmer Glemaker, 34, of 5755 Crenshaw Drive died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Glemaker was a processing assistant at the Cumberland County Health Department.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Fayetteville Community Church by the Rev. Ken Pritchard. Arrangements are being handled by Reeves Funeral Home.

Mrs. Glemaker is survived by her husband, Daniel Glemaker; two daughters, Danielle Glemaker and Jessica Glemaker, both of the home; her father and stepmother, Brandon and Sandy Palmer of Greenville, S.C.; her mother and stepfather, Gayle and Carl Mayfield of Fayetteville; a sister, Amanda Palmer of Greenville; two brothers, Trent Palmer and Brandon T. Palmer III, both of Parkton; and her maternal grandmother, Ida Howard of Hampton, Va.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church.

James R. Mannara (Dated Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998)

VARNAM -- James Richard Mannara, 83, of Jamie Lane, formerly of Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center in Wilmington.

A Mass will be celebrated at 9 p.m. Monday in St. Brendans Church in Shallotte by Father Michael Connolly. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Cross Creek Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Mr. Mannara is survived by his wife, Lena T. Mannara; three daughters, Carol Vidstrand of Del Mar, Calif., Elaine Mannara of Clearwater, Fla., and Camille Walker of Supply; a brother, John Mannara of Rochester, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Brunswick Funeral Service chapel in Shallotte.

Rev. Fredrick H. Evans (Dated Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998)

CLINTON -- The Rev. Fredrick H. Evans, 44, of 605 Ashford Drive died Thursday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Sampson County Agri-Exposition Center by the Rev. John F. Troy. Burial will be in Bearskin Baptist Church cemetery.

The Rev. Evans is survived by his wife, Denise Evans; two daughters, Angela Ford and Lawanda Newman, both of Clinton; two sisters, Gracie McDoe and Annie P. Smith, both of Clinton; three brothers, James Evans, Clifton Evans and Charles Evans, all of Clinton; and two grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Butler & Son Funeral Home in Roseboro.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Mrs. Janie B. O’Merry (Dated Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998)

ROCKY POINT -- Mrs. Janie Bain O’Merry, 53, of Rocky Point died Friday in her home.

Mrs. O’Merry was a homemaker. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Burgaw.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Bain family cemetery by the Rev. Carl Gibbs.

Mrs. O’Merry is survived by a son, Mark Bordeaux of Angier; two daughters, Sharon Burnie of Greenville, S.C., and Lisa Barefoot of Clinton; five sisters, Betty Leonard of Currie, Juanita Brant of Julian, Pa., Mary Watson of Elizabethtown, Darlene Moore of Benson and Frances Penny of Dunn; six brothers, Bobby R. Bain of Newport News, Va., R.J. Bain of Currie, John D. Bain of Rocky Point, Jerry Bain of Dunn and Jimmy Bain and Willie G. Bain, both of Fuquay-Varina; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson and at other times at the home of Jesse and Frances Penny, 177 Cut Off Road in Dunn.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Bobby J. Lambert (Dated Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998)

FRANKFURT, Germany -- Bobby J. Lambert, 58, of Frankfurt, formerly of West End, N.C., died Oct. 7.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Kendrick Funeral Home of Southern Pines, N.C.

Mr. Lambert is survived by his wife, Phillis Lambert of Frankfurt; two daughters, Rosa Lambert and Stephine Lambert, both of Frankfurt; two sisters, Mary Smith of Southern Pines and Tony Lambert of Los Angeles; and three brothers, Lee D. Lambert of West End, James Lambert of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Melvin F. Lambert of Greensboro, N.C.

The family will receive friends today beginning at noon at the family home in West End.

Mrs. Viola B. Todd (Dated Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Viola Beasley Todd, 94, of 109 Kinlaw Road died Thursday in Carrolton Nursing Center.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Gardens of Faith Cemetery by the Rev. Kelly Smith.

Mrs. Todd is survived by a son, Ernest Todd of Lumberton; a daughter, Marion Fountain of Sturgis, S.D.; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Cherry Beatty (Dated Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998)

CLINTON -- Cherry Beatty, 50, of 3366 Ozzie Road died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Carter Funeral Home of Garland.

Finnen Clark (Dated Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998)

RED SPRINGS -- Finnen Clark, 54, of 452 Arthur Road died Tuesday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Island Grove Baptist Church by the Revs. Larry Locklear and Kenneth Hunt. Burial will be in the Chavis family cemetery in Maxton. Arrangements are being handled by Revels Funeral Home of Pembroke.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Janice F. Clark of the home; two daughters, Rennett L. Locklear of Red Springs and Chawona L. Emanuel of the home; a stepson, Ricky Clark of Red Springs; three stepdaughters, Tasha Strickland of Maxton, Melinda Smith of Fayetteville and Brandy Oxendine of Rowland; his mother, Margan Clark of Maxton; two sisters, Jean D. Locklear and Judy Chavis, both of Maxton; and eight grandchildren.

Mrs. Delphia D. Locklear (Dated Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998)

MAXTON -- Mrs. Delphia Deese Locklear, 81, of 91 Red Banks Road died Friday in Pemberton Place Nursing Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Whitehill Freewill Baptist Church by the Revs. Floyd Hunt, Marshall M. Locklear and Stanford Locklear. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Locklear is survived by three daughters, Annette L. Swett and Maria L. Lowry, both of Pembroke, and Patricia Locklear of Rowland; three sons, Ernie S. Locklear, Marshall M. Locklear and Stanford Locklear, all of Maxton; a brother, Earl Deese of Pembroke; two sisters, Rosie Graham of Pembroke and Lee B. Deese of Maxton; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.

Mrs. Mary Mitchell (Dated Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998)

BUNNLEVEL -- Mrs. Mary Mitchell, 77, of McLean Chapel Church Road died Thursday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in McLean Chapel Free Will Baptist Church by elder Benjamin Sutton. Burial will be in McLean Cemetery.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her husband, Solomon Mitchell of the home; a daughter, Estella Martin of Bunnlevel; four sons, Cleveland Mitchell of Newport News, Va., Ronnie McIver of Broadway, Gerald D. McIver of Bunnlevel and Antonio McIver of Inglewood, N.J.; a foster son, Robert Quick of Bunnlevel; five sisters, Laura Hurley, Della Cameron and Louise Davis, all of Bunnlevel, Esther Cameron of Linden and Hazel Austin of Hampton, Va.; a brother, James McDougald of Bunnlevel; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 7:30 at Dafford Funeral Home chapel in Dunn.

Mrs. Marion Zimmerman (Dated Friday, Oct. 16, 1998)

Mrs. Marion “Mary” Zimmerman, 66, of 1743 Martindale Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Zimmerman was a member of Manna Church. She worked at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for 20 years before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by Joe Rodriguez and Michael Fletcher. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 4.

Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by a daughter, Karen Zimmerman of Fayetteville; a son, Kreg G. Zimmerman of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a brother, Raymond Peroutky of Peoria, Ariz.; and a granddaughter.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Murphy H. Canady (Dated Friday, Oct. 16, 1998)

BUNNLEVEL -- Murphy Henry Canady, 89, of Bunnlevel died Wednesday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville.

Mr. Canady was a former health inspector.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Green Springs Baptist Church cemetery in Parkton by the Rev. Steve Gordon. Arrangements are being handled by O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home of Lillington.

Mr. Canady is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, Box 120, Bunnlevel, N.C. 28323.

Mrs. Mary Mitchell (Dated Friday, Oct. 16, 1998)

BUNNLEVEL -- Mrs. Mary Mitchell, 77, of McLean Chapel Church Road died Thursday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pauline B. Bullock (Dated Friday, Oct. 16, 1998)

LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Pauline Byrd Bullock, 77, of Lillington died Wednesday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Bill Goodnight. Burial will be in Westview Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Bullock is survived by two sons, Gary Bullock of Sanford and Jimmy Bullock of Clinton; a daughter, Trudy B. Hamilton of Lillington; three brothers, Cliff Byrd of Coats, Bruce Byrd of Lillington and Eugene Byrd of Godwin; a sister, Jerry Stogsdill of Lillington; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Trudy Hamilton.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 266, Lillington, N.C. 27546.
