LUMBERTON -- Thomas Seavy Harden, 78, of 141 Dresden Ave. died Sunday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Floyd Mortuary and Crematory.

William H. McPhatter (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- William Harold McPhatter, 77, of West 19th Street died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Mr. McPhatter was a member of Chestnut Street United Methodist Church. He was a Marine veteran and retired as deputy of the Robeson County Law Enforcement.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Chestnut Street United Methodist Church by the Revs. W. Stanley Smith and Herman Winberry. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery.

Mr. McPhatter is survived by his wife, Hazel H. McPhatter of the home; a son, William H. McPhatter Jr. of Lumberton; four daughters, Mary C. Collins of Lillington, Kay Little of Lumberton, Sue Neely of Greensboro and Glenda Burkhard of Little River, S.C.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Biggs Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Chestnut Street United Methodist Church building fund, P.O. Box 1464, Lumberton, N.C. 28359.

Mrs. Anne Cromartie (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998)

MURFREESBORO -- Mrs. Anne Cromartie, 80, of Woodridge Road, formerly of Garland, died Sunday in her home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in South River Presbyterian Church cemetery in Garland by the Rev. Ronald McSwain. Arrangements are being handled by Carter Funeral Home of Garland.

Mrs. Cromartie is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth C. Jernigan of Murfreesboro; a sister, Alyce M. Fagan of Vero Beach, Fla.; a brother, Henry C. Martin Jr. of Wadesboro; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Mrs. Lena O. Hamilton (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998)

FAIRMONT -- Mrs. Lena Mae Oliver Hamilton, 92, of 9663 N.C. 41 South died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mrs. Hamilton was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity United Methodist Church by the Revs. Debra Watson and James R. Oliver. Burial will be in Marietta Cemetery in Marietta.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by a daughter, Marion Hamilton of the home; and a son, William “Bill” Hamilton of Washington, D.C.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Funeral Services and at other times in the home.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 307 Trinity St., Fairmont, N.C. 28340, or Boys and Girls Home, P.O. Box 127, Lake Waccamaw, N.C. 28450.

Dr. J. Hampton Byerly (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998)

SANFORD -- Dr. J. Hampton Byerly, 93, of 620 Carr St. died Monday in Central Carolina Hospital.

Dr. Byerly was a retired family physician. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Buffalo Cemetery by the Rev. Eric Porterfield.

Dr. Byerly is survived by two sons, Tommy Byerly of Sanford and J. Hampton Byerly Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; two stepdaughters, Nancy D. Cooper of Sanford and Grayson Alexander of Birmingham, Ala.; a brother, Dr. Claude Byerly of Siler City; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church building fund.

Wesly Jones (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998)

RAEFORD -- Wesly Jones, 91, of 201 Major Evans Road died Monday in Open Arms Rest Home.

Arrangements will be announced by Buie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lessie M. Little (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998)

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Lessie McRae Little, 88, of 975 Crawford Wright Road died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Arrangements will be announced by Buie Funeral Home.

Mrs. Eleanor G. Melvin (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998)

Mrs. Eleanor Grace Melvin, 68, of 106 Enoch St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary.

George W. Seagraves (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998)

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. -- George W. Seagraves, 63, of 393 Great Lakes Drive, formerly of Sanford, N.C., died Saturday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C.

Mr. Seagraves was a high school principal.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sanford by the Revs. Paul Leeland and Reggie Ponder. Burial will be in Athens Cemetery in Princeton, W.Va.

Mr. Seagraves is survived by his wife, Cynthia A. Seagraves of Pawleys Island; two sons, George W. Seagraves II of Fort Worth, Texas, and John Seagraves of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Sally Seagraves of Roanoke, Va.; two stepdaughters, Cecelia Esposito of Los Angeles and Charity White of Pawleys Island.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Reinaldo L. Dominguez (Dated Monday, Oct. 12, 1998)

Reinaldo Linares Dominguez, 73, of 665 Montclair Road, Fayetteville, died Friday in his home.

Mr. Dominguez was a World War II veteran where he received the World War II Victory medal and Army of Occupation medal. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

A private memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel.

Mr. Dominguez is survived by his wife, Agnes Dominguez of Fayetteville; a daughter, Illa Harris of Fayetteville; a son, Rainer Sgoff of Fayetteville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Project 2001, 2840 Village Drive, Fayetteville, N.C. 28304.

H. Ruffin Horne (Dated Monday, Oct. 12, 1998)

H. Ruffin Horne, 82, of 325 N. Cool Springs St., Fayetteville, died Sunday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Horne was owner and operator of Horne’s Drug Store on Hay Street, the first drug store in Fayetteville. He also was a radio broadcaster.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Cross Creek Cemetery by the Rev. Ronald Abrams.

Mr. Horne is survived by two daughters, Joan Horne of Woodstock, Ill., and Gene Horne of Guilford, Conn.; a son, W. Peter Horne of North Bridgton, Maine; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Charles W. Crumpler (Dated Monday, Oct. 12, 1998)

DUNN -- Charles Wingate Crumpler, 62, of 1939 Aman Dairy Road died Sunday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Spring Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim McQueen. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Crumpler is survived by his wife, Edna N. Crumpler of the home; a daughter, Marilyn Benton of Goldsboro; a son, Charles W. Crumpler Jr. of Dunn; two sisters, Hazel McMillan of Saraland, Ala., and Joy Crump of Immokalee, Fla; and two brothers, Richard Crumpler of Stedman and Earl Crumpler of Raeford.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spring Branch Baptist Church building fund.

Mrs. Margaret H. Allen (Dated Monday, Oct. 12, 1998)

BLADENBORO -- Mrs. Margaret Louise Hall Allen, 74, of 1683 N.C. 41 died Saturday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Beck. Burial will be in Henry Allen Cemetery.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband, Henry B. Allen of the home; a daughter, Brenda A. Mitchell of Kenly; two sons, Harold B. Allen of Angier and Don H. Allen of Bladenboro; two sisters, Donnie B. Allen of Benson and Mildred Woodard of Raleigh; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Lewis Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dorothy C. Muse (Dated Monday, Oct. 12, 1998)

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Mrs. Dorothy Crumpler Muse, 84, of Arlington, formerly of Roseboro, N.C., died Friday in Alexandria Hospital.

Mrs. Muse retired after 39 years with the National Archives in Washington, D.C.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro by the Rev. Bryan Sexton. Burial will be in Roseboro Cemetery.

Mrs. Muse is survived by three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Michael G. Hollingsworth (Dated Monday, Oct. 12, 1998)

HOPE MILLS -- Retired Army Master Sgt. Michael Gene Hollingsworth, 60, of 5939 Rehobath Road died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mr. Hollingsworth was a Vietnam veteran with Special Forces. He received the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Oak Leaf Clusters and the Bronze Star. He also was retired from the civil service. He was a deacon at Golfview Drive Baptist Church and was a 32nd degree Mason.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in JFK Chapel on Fort Bragg by Chaplain Thomas Murray. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Hollingsworth is survived by his wife, Barbara L. Hollingsworth; four sons, Michael G. Hollingsworth and Eric Hollingsworth, both of Fayetteville, Stephen Hollingsworth of Hope Mills and Guerin Hollingsworth of Los Angeles; a brother, Thomas Hollingsworth of Salt Lake City; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Reeves Funeral Home.

Timothy G. Godwin (Dated Monday, Oct. 12, 1998)

WADE -- Timothy Gray Godwin, 54, of Route 1, Box 58-A, died Friday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Center Baptist Church by the Rev. John Jones. Burial will be in Old Bluff Church cemetery.

Mr. Godwin is survived by his wife, Jeanette H. Godwin of Wade; a son, Timothy L. Godwin of Hope Mills; two daughters, Donna M. Godwin of Wade and Susan M. Gibson of Fayetteville; two brothers, Scottie Godwin of Wade and Bennie R. Godwin of Belmont; a sister, Pennie Mason of Wade; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 9:30 at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home in Dunn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Center Baptist Church building fund, Wade, N.C. 28395, or to Duke University Medical Center, Cancer Research Department, Durham, N.C.
