HOPE MILLS -- Jesse A. Hulon, 71, of 310 Brooklyn Circle died Friday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Hope Mills by the Rev. James Parks and Chaplain Michael Weaver. Burial will be in Big Rockfish Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Mr. Hulon is survived by his wife, Edna B. Hulon of the home; a son, Leon Hulon of Hope Mills; two daughters, Peggy Jackson of Hope Mills and Deborah Wilkes of Fayetteville; five brothers, Edward Hulon of Stonesboro, Pa., Frank Hulon of Salt Springs, Fla., Joe Hulon of Hope Mills, Lacy Hulon of Hickory and Grady Hulon of Charlotte; three sisters, Josephine Melvin and Dorothy Wingate, both of Hope Mills, and Ruth-Ann Long of Sumter, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Annie R. Collins (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

ROWLAND -- Mrs. Annie Ruth Collins, 76, of U.S. 74 West died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in Island Grove Baptist Church by the Revs. Larry Locklear and Charles Locklear and Brother Travis Collins. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Collins is survived by two daughters, Linda R. Collins and Paula Sampson, both of Rowland; three sons, Selford Cummings of Rock Hill, S.C., and Kenneth Collins and Willie Collins, both of Rowland; three sisters, Clara Locklear and Francis Fields, both of Lumberton, and Emma J. Bullard of Pembroke; three brothers, the Rev. Coolidge Cummings and Archie Oxendine, both of Maxton, and Billy A. Oxendine of Blacksburg, Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight beginning at 7 at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Pembroke.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Timothy G. Godwin (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

WADE -- Timothy Gray Godwin, 55, of Route 1, Box 58-A, died Friday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Arrangements will be announced by Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home of Dunn.

Mrs. Luella D. Ritter (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

SANFORD -- Mrs. Luella Douglas Ritter, 83, of 1006 Greenwood Road died Friday in Convalescent Center of Lee County.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. H.L. Mickle and Mack Fowler. Burial will be in Lemon Springs United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Ritter is survived by a daughter, Edith R. Hall of Sanford; two brothers, Grady Douglas of Sanford and Odell Douglas of Jamestown; two sisters, Etta Lopsay and Ruby Hall, both of Sanford; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Mrs. Mary Reece (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

SANFORD -- Mrs. Mary Reece of 4155 Broadway Road died Saturday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Francis ‘Bo’ Fields (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Francis “Bo” Fields of 3004 Meadow Road died Saturday.

Arrangements will be announced by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

William S. Douglas Jr. (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

ATLANTA -- William Samuel “June” Douglas Jr., 69, of Atlanta, formerly of Laurinburg, N.C., died Wednesday in Veterans Affairs Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Galilee United Methodist Church in Laurinburg by the Rev. Doris Fox. Burial with military rites will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Laurinburg. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.

Mr. Douglas is survived by a son, Willliam S. Douglas III of Atlanta; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Rice of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Alice McNair of Queens, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Robert R. Thames (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

CAMERON -- Robert Ray Thames, 22, of 155 Farley Road died Friday.

Mr. Thames was a construction worker with Champion Mobile Home Builders.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Hollandale Advent Christian Church in Spring Lake by the Rev. Edward Adams. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Spring Lake.

Mr. Thames is survived by his parents, J. B. and Nancy Thames of Cameron; two brothers, Jennings B. Thames III of Savannah, Ga., and Tony A. Billips of Charleston, S.C.; and two sisters, Rosemary A. Billips of Broadway and Kathy G. Billips of Cameron.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Lake.

Jesse E. Fisher III (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Jesse Earl Fisher III, infant son of Jesse E. and Kim Fisher Jr. of 5141 Beulah Church Road died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Mrs. Katie E. Shipp (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

CLINTON -- Mrs. Katie Estelle Shipp, 90, of Bernice Road died Friday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Shipp was a member of Plainview Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Plainview Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church by the Revs. Charles R. Jernigan and Clyde Shelton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Mrs. Shipp is survived by three daughters, Louise S. Willis, Rose S. Strickland and Mildred S. Raynor, all of Clinton; a son, Willie M. Shipp of Clinton; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Clifton W. Butler (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Clifton Ward Butler, 81, of 2314 S. Martin Luther King Blvd. died Thursday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church by Dr. E.B. Turner. Burial will be in Elizabeth Heights Cemetery.

Mr. Butler is survived by two daughters, Ester M. Allen of Paterson, N.J., and Lessie Freeman of Roseboro; two sisters, Minnie B. Culbreth of Capitol Heights, Md., and Tera Culbreth of Roseboro; a brother, the Rev. Murphy L. Butler of Roseboro; and several grandchildren.

The public will be received Monday from noon to 6 at Butler Funeral Home in St. Pauls.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Evelyn Mitchell (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

COUNCIL -- Mrs. Evelyn Mitchell, 85, of 10554 N.C. 87 East died Saturday in Elizabethtown Nursing Home.

Arrangements will be announced by Reeves Funeral Home of Hope Mills.

Mrs. Etta D. Hart (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

CAMERON -- Mrs. Etta D. Hart, 79, of 4442 Hillmon Grove Road died Friday in Pinelake Health Center.

Mrs. Hart was a member of Cypress Presbyterian Church.

A private graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Cypress Presbyterian Church cemetery by the Rev. Richard Rodda. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hart is survived by two daughters, Reba H. McPherson and Sue H. Cameron, both of Cameron; four sisters, Georgia Rogers of Cameron, Mary K. Thomas of Sanford, Alice Smith of Concord and Annie L. Faulk of Pleasant Garden; five grandsons; and a great-grandson.

Memorials may be made to Cypress Presbyterian Church cemetery fund, 2012 Cypress Church Road, Cameron, N.C. 28326.

Margaret H. Cunningham (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

RALEIGH -- Mrs. Margaret Anne Horton Herring Cunningham, 73, of Raleigh, formerly of White Lake, died Friday.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in Brown-Wynne Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cunningham is survived by a son, Michael Herring of Fayetteville; a daughter, Pamela Clark of Raleigh; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Rev. William V. Edwards (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

ROSEBORO -- The Rev. William Vander “Bill” Edwards, 75, of 5035 Old Mintz Highway died Saturday in his home.

Mr. Edwards was a farmer. He was also a veteran of World War II.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Carr Chapel Free Will Holiness Church by the Revs. Billy Bass, Bobby Stephenson and Jerry F. Smith. Burial will be in Edwards Cemetery.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Charlotte C. Edwards of the home; two daughters, Rita Lassiter of Clarkton and Kathryn “Kathy” Cribb of Clarendon; two sons, Douglas Edwards of Jacksonville and Bradley Edwards of Roseboro; a sister, Elnita Vinson of Rocky Mount; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.

Joseph McNeill (Dated Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998)

RED SPRINGS -- Joseph McNeill, 45, of Route 3 died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Jones Chapel Church by the Rev. Edmonds. Burial will be in Community Rest Cemetery.

Mr. McNeill is survived by his mother and stepfather, Margarett and Weldon Ross of Red Springs; his father, William C. Campbell of Maryland; his foster mother, Cora L. McBryde of Red Springs; four sisters, Rose L. Lee of Paterson, N.J., Lottie Barnes of Lumberton, Linda J. Ross of Red Springs and Caroune Ross of Passaic, N.J.; two brothers, George Ross and Vincent Ross, both of Passaic; and three foster brothers, Henry C. McNeill of New Jersey and Leroy McBryde Jr. and Ronnie L. McBryde, both of Red Springs.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at L.E. Floyd Funeral Home.

Mrs. Aline N. Moore (Dated Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998)

Mrs. Aline N. Moore, 83, of 1063 Trade St., Fayetteville, died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills by the Rev. Thomas N. White. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, Baxter Moore; two daughters, Cassandra Thieker of Charlotte and Lorraine Everitte of Hope Mills; a son, Anthony Moore of Fayetteville; a sister, Edna Hall of Fayetteville; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Shemar J. Bullock (Dated Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998)

Shemar JaQuan Bullock, infant son of Tanishia Bullock of 1374 Chilton Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Rockfish Memorial Park by the Rev. Russell Robinson Sr. Arrangements are being handled by H.M. Colvin Funeral Home.

In addition to his mother, Shemar is survived by a sister, Tatyana Bullock of Fayetteville; his maternal grandfather, Woodrow Cameron of Fayetteville; and his maternal grandmother, Charlene Bullock of Fayetteville.

Adalberto ‘Jerry’ Ruiz (Dated Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998)

Retired Army Master Sgt. Adalberto “Jerry” Ruiz, 73, of Fayetteville died Friday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
