Mrs. Jo Ann Wilson (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Jo Ann Wilson, 52, of 2345 Powell Farm Road died Sunday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Mrs. Wilson was a member of Lillington United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Lillington United Methodist Church by the Rev. Stacey Z. Graves.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband, Walter R. Wilson of Lillington; two daugthers, Amy Noel of Lillington and Leslie Jernigan of Richmond Hill, Ga.; a son, Walter R. Wilson II of Penderlea; three sisters, Patsy Lucas of Narrows, Va., Margaret Johnson of Rich Creek, Va., and Bonnie Smith of Fayetteville; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Adcock Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Jo Ann Wilson Memorial Fund, care of Dr. Mark Graham, Division of Hemotology/Onocolgy, UNC Hospitals, C.B. 7305, 3009 Old Clinic Bldg., Chapel Hill, N.C. 27599-7305.

Tech Sgt. Marvin L. Jones (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

Air Force Tech Sgt. Marvin Lee Jones, 37, of 24 Galaxy St., Pope Air Force Base, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Tech Sgt. Jones was a member of the Sargeants Association and Air Force Association.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Spring Lake Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. John McKoy. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Tech Sgt. Jones is survived by his wife, Ann Jones; a son, Sean A. Jones of the home; a stepdaughter, Alisha McCorkle of the home; his mother, Erie Jones of Spring Lake; a brother, Alexander Jones of Spring Lake; four sisters, Linda Jones, Victoria Jones and Valerie Jones, all of Spring Lake, and Patrcia McKoy of Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Steven W. Dial (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

MAXTON -- Steven Wayne Dial, 18, of Route 2 died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Arrangemetns will be announced by Thompson’s Funeral Home of Pembroke.

Mrs. Ella M. Amis (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

SANFORD -- Mrs. Ella McLeod Amis, 83, of Sanford died Friday in Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Troy.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Watson Mortuary. Burial will be in White Oak.

Mrs. Amis is survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.

Ms. Lillie M. Allsbrook (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

MAXTON -- Ms. Lillie Mae Allsbrook, 81, of Cavalina Pines, Apt. 3A, died Saturday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Carrie Hester Funeral Service.

Mrs. Elma B. Price (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

BLADENBORO -- Mrs. Elma Blackwell Price, 80, of Bladenboro died Monday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sandy Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Currie Long. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Price is survived by two daughters, Janice E. Martin of Mishawaka, Ind., and Charmaine P. Andrews of Bonneau, S.C.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sadie B. Morell (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

Mrs. Sadie B. Morell of 5738 McDougald St., Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Ms. Jane G. Matthis (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

CLINTON -- Ms. Jane Grainger Matthis of 512-A Laurelwood Apartments died Sunday in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Pauls Episcopal Church by the Revs. Thomas Cure and Pamela Stringer. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Ky. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Ms. Matthis is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John L. Howard of Greenville and Jane M. Smith of Columbia, S.C.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Clinton-Sampson Rescue Squad, or to the charity of one’s choice.

Osceola W. Hunt (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

ROWLAND -- Osceola Wihe Hunt, 5, of Route 1, Box 2581 Chicken Road, died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Osceola was a kindergartner at Green Grove Elementary School in Fairmont.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Back Swamp Full Gospel Holiness Church by the Revs. Tessie Blue, Grover Oxendine and Geraldine Blue. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Raynham.

Osceola is survived by his parents, Mariano “John” and Techa M. Hunt of the home; a brother, Aaron B. Hunt of the home; his maternal grandparents, Hoyt and Ernestine B. Pierce of Rowland; his paternal grandparents, James “Croaker” and Julie Hunt of Rowland; his maternal great-grandparents, the Rev. Tessie and James Blue of Fairmont; his paternal great-grandmother, Mary E. Hunt of Lumberton; and his maternal great-great-grandmother, Catherine Locklear of Pembroke.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Biggs Funeral Home in Lumberton and at other times at the home of the Rev. Tessie and James Blue, 523 Solidarity Drive, Fairmont.

Eugene Evans (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

Eugene Evans, 78, of 216 Central Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Second Baptist Church by the Rev. I.E. Swann. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Evans is survived by three daughters, Cora Evans-Harrison and Eugenia Evans-Johnson, both of Fayetteville, and Thomasina E. Johnson of the home; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

Mrs. Tiny B. Wade (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

Mrs. Tiny Brooks Wade, 75, of Groveview Terrace, Fayetteville, died Thursday in St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Parks Chapel Free Will Baptist Church by elder William T. Ford Sr. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Raeford.

Mrs. Wade is survived by a son, Charles W. Wade of Durham; a brother, Eddie Covington of Hope Mills; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

The family will receive friends at the home of Brenda Coppedge, 6541 Amanda Circle, Fayetteville.

William A. VanStory IV (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

William A. VanStory IV, 45, of 409 Foxwood Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in his home.

Mr. VanStory was a charter graduate of the Campbell University School of Law.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 4 by Drs. John W. Coker and James B. McCoy. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Mr. VanStory is survived by his wife, Irene VanStory of the home; a daughter, Scarlett M. VanStory of Fayetteville; his father and stepmother, William A. and Lilly F. VanStory III of Fayetteville; a sister, Lisa M. VanStory of North Wilkesboro; a stepsister, Meg L. Moore of Charlotte; and four stepbrothers, Danny McLeod and Ned McLeod, both of Fayetteville, and Charles Lewis and Paul Lewis, both of Raleigh.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 569, Fayetteville, N.C. 28302.

Mrs. Georgia A. Butler (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Georgia Ann Butler, 66, of 1912 Nursery Road died Sunday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Mrs. Butler was a member of Gourd Springs Baptist Church. She was a former member of the Board of Directors and EMT with Anderson Creek Fire and Rescue Squad.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel in Spring Lake by the Revs. Donnie Drake and George Fitzpatrick and Woody Griffin. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mrs. Butler is survived by her husband, Otis O. Butler of Lillington; two sons, William O. Butler of Lillington and Benjamin C. Butler of Fredericksburg, Va.; two daughters, Donna R. Butler of Atlanta and Korenna M. Butler of Lillington; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gail O. Dybdal (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

ST. PAULS -- Mrs. Gail Odom Dybdal, 44, of 523 Odom Home Place Road died Sunday in N.C. Cancer Institute.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Great Marsh Baptist Church by the Revs. Paul Langston and Roger Plemmons. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Dybdal is survived by a daughter, Crystal G. Johnson of St. Pauls; her parents, Archie and Doris Odom of St. Pauls; two brothers, Larry W. Odom and Edward E. Odom, both of Lumberton; two sisters, Annette Coe of Pensacola, Fla., and Patricia Coleman of Brunswick, Ga.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Mrs. Agnes S. Nunn (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

MONCURE -- Mrs. Agnes S. Nunn, 73, of 4585 Moncure-Pittsboro Road died Monday in Sanford.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Gum Springs Baptist Church cemetery by the Rev. Garland Foushee. Arrangements are being handled by Smith Funeral Home.

Among Mrs. Nunn’s survivors is a son, George W. Bencz of Sanford.

Claude T. Parnell Sr. (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Claude Terry Parnell Sr., 76, of 525 Oak Tree Trail died Sunday in Bladen County Hospital.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Singletary Cemetery in Butters by the Rev. Ransom Hayes. Arrangements are being handled by Lewis-Bowen Funeral Home.

Mr. Parnell is survived by two sons, Claude T. Parnell Jr. and Neal Parnell, both of Elizabethtown.

David E. Miller Sr. (Dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998)

HAMLET -- David E. Miller Sr., 75, of 214 Freeman Mill Road died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mr. Miller was a retired brick mason. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II European Theatre.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jim Pearson. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery in Rockingham.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Patricia S. Miller of the home; a daughter, Teresa Stephenson of Rockingham; a brother, Billy Miller of Rockingham; a sister, Doris Thomas of Rockingham; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Carter Funeral Home.
