SANFORD -- Mrs. Sylvia Diane Branch Gordon, 42, of 312 H Village Drive died Friday in Central Carolina Hospital.

A graveside serivce will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Lee Memory Gardens by the Rev. John Hegepeth. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gordon is survived by her husband, D. Steve Gordon of Sanford; a son, Christopher M. Hall of Chapel Hill; a daughter, Tabitha D. Hall of Castle Hayne; and her parents, the Rev. Paul and Clara B. Branch of Stedman.

Neil A. Hasty (Dated Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998)

NEW YORK -- Neil Archie Hasty, 61, of New York, formerly of Laurinburg, N.C., died Saturday in North General Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Morris Funeral Home.

Fred L. Tripp (Dated Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998)

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Fred Lathan Tripp, 64, of 2498 River Oaks Drive died Friday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Jennings & Ayers chapel by Richard Weber. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Among Mr. Tripp’s survivors is a daughter, Teresa Smith of Stedman, N.C.

Mrs. Velma P. Foley (Dated Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998)

ORRUM -- Mrs. Velma Page Foley, 93, of 843 Foley Road died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mrs. Foley was a member of Barnesville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Floyd Funeral Services chapel in Fairmont by the Rev. Howard Fowler. Burial will be in Floyd Memorial Cemetery in Fairmont.

Mrs. Foley is survived by a son, James Foley of the home; two brothers, Horace Page and Eugene Page, both of Lake View, S.C.; a sister, Janie Page of Lake View; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

John W. Coleman (Dated Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998)

LILLINGTON -- John William Coleman, 93, of Brookfield Retirement Home died Saturday.

Mr. Coleman was a retired farmer.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Lillington United Methodist Church by the Rev. Stacey Graves. Burial will be in Harnett Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home.

Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife, Bertha S. Coleman of Brookfield Retirement Home; a son, Larry Coleman of Bunnlevel; a foster sister, Julia Holston of Texas; a foster brother, Tom O’Quinn of Wilmington; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church parlor and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvis T. Matthews, 5995 Old 421 West in Lillington.

Eddie F. Ledbetter (Dated Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998)

LAURINBURG -- Eddie Floyd Ledbetter, 55, of Edwin Morgan Center died Friday.

Arrangements will be announced by Jackson Funeral Home.

Robert McLean (Dated Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998)

MAXTON -- Robert McLean of East Rockingham Road died Saturday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Jackson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Victoria B. Ellison (Dated Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998)

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Victoria Baldwin Ellison, 75, of 9261 Price St. died Friday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in St. Paul AME Zion Church in McColl, S.C. Burial will be in Scotland Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Jackson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ellison is survived by seven sons, James Ellison, Jimmy Ellison, Edward Ellison, James Ellison Jr., Ray Ellison, Nathaniel Ellison and Archie Ellison; three daughters, Vanessa McLaurin, Patricia Ellison and Hannah Atkinson; a brother, Ervin Baldwin; and four sisters, Mary Baldwin, Heneritta Pearson, Estella Baldwin and Elizabeth McLaurin.

Leander Scott (Dated Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998)

LUMBER BRIDGE -- Retired Army Staff Sgt. Leander Scott, 80, of Lumber Bridge died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Main Post Chapel on Fort Bragg by Dr. Stanley Richardson. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park.

Mr. Scott is survived by his wife, Helen E. Scott; three sons, David Scott, Michael Scott and James Scott; four daughters, Romell Askew, Deanna Bailey, Brenda Sansbury and Linda McIntyre; a brother, James Scott; and three sisters, Mildred Hendrick, Helen Smallwood and Goldie M. Scott.

The public will be received today from 2 to 7 p.m. at Jackson Funeral Home.

LUMBERTON -- Stancil Carter of Leisure Living Rest Home died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

WHISPERING PINES -- Richard “Rick” Giorgi, 47, of Whispering Pines died Saturday.

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Sarah Gillis Bethea, 56, of Route 2, Box 654, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary of Fayetteville.

Robert L. Graham (Dated Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998)

ST. PAULS -- Robert L. “Greasy” Graham, 78, of 421 E. McLean St. died Saturday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Mr. Graham was a veteran of World War II. He received the Bronze Star. He was also a member of First Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery.

Mr. Graham is survived by his wife, Lynn M. Graham; three daughters, Rhonda Suggs of St. Pauls, Joyce Canady of Hope Mills and Lynn Chandler of Fayetteville; two sons, Bobby Graham of Wilmington and Dickie Dale of Morrisville, Tenn.; a brother, Stephen L. “Bull” Graham of Hope Mills; a sister, Kathleen Thompson of Beech Island, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Floyd Mortuary and Crematory in Lumberton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Robert L. Graham Youth Memorial Scholarship Fund, care of First Baptist Church, St. Pauls, N.C. 28384.

Harold Thompson (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

Harold Thompson, 39, of Fayetteville died Monday.

Mr. Thompson is survived by two brothers, Charles Williams of Los Angeles and Larry Williams of Fayetteville; and a sister, Debra Slocumb of Fayetteville.

Edward Sanders, 61, of 7222 Ainsley St., Fayetteville, died Tuesday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Union Station AME Church in Sumter, S.C., by the Rev. Friendly Gadson. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Memorial Cemetery in Sumter. Arrangements are being handled by Tucker and Sons Funeral Home.

Mr. Sanders is survived by three sons, George Gaines Jr. of Spartanburg, S.C., Eddie Sanders of Fayetteville and Elias Sanders of Fort Stewart, Ga.; two daughters, Patricia Yaminah-Shabazz of Fairfax, Va., and Lauretta Richbow of Sumter; his mother, Adelaide Walters of Philadelphia; a brother, the Rev. Kenneth Walters of Philadelphia; four sisters, Geraldine Zales, Barbra Blakely and Adelaide Walters, all of Philadelphia, and June Barnes of Florence, S.C.; and 15 grandchildren.

Gregorio E. Namauleg, 70, of 7310 Ryan St., Fayetteville, died Thursday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

David Fairley Porter, 76, of 3019 Smith St., Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Porter is survived by his wife, Emily S. Porter of the home; a son, David R. Porter of Fayetteville; and a brother, Donnie Porter of Asheville.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home in Hope Mills.

Jack F. Robinson (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

SPRING LAKE -- Retired Army Staff Sgt. Jack Fredrick Robinson, 70, of 378 W. Manchester Road died Friday in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

Mr. Robinson was a member of Fort Bragg Lodge No. 667 and the American Legion. He was also a member of Spring Lake United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Allen C. Edens Jr. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Joyce J. Robinson of Spring Lake; a daughter, Rhonda Stancil of Middlesex; three sisters, Helen Clemmer of Charlotte, Naomi Morgan of Moncks Corner, S.C., and Laura Bell of Greenville, S.C.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sallie M. Bruce (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

PHILADELPHIA -- Mrs. Sallie Mae Bruce, 82, of Philadelphia, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Nov. 21.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Jackson Funeral Home by the Rev. Ellisha Hilliary. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Laurinburg, N.C.

Mrs. Bruce is survived by a son, Lawrence Jackson Jr. of Laurinburg; a sister, Paulene Cromartie of Philadelphia; and a grandson.
