Mrs. Lou R. Wehlitz (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

WINSTON-SALEM -- Mrs. Lou Rogers Wehlitz, 92, of Brook Ridge Retirement Center, formerly of Fayetteville, died Thursday.

Mrs. Wehlitz was a member of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 2 in Fayetteville by Dr. Glenn E. Holt. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Wehlitz is survived by a stepson, Albert Wehlitz of Portland, Maine; and a stepdaughter, Lora Shafer of Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 Anderson St., Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.

Mrs. Janie G. Patterson (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

PARKTON -- Mrs. Janie G. Patterson, 83, of Route 1, Box 47, died Wednesday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:45 p.m. Sunday in Mount Hebrew AME Zion Church by the Rev. Thedelmon Cromartie. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Patterson is survived by her husband, John F. Patterson Sr.; a daughter, Joyce A. Riggans of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Woodrow Patterson of Philadelphia and John F. Patterson Jr. of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Cunningham & Sons Mortuary.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Marvin C. Quick (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

HASTY -- Marvin Clyde Quick, 81, of Crestline Road died Thursday in Edwin Morgan Center.

Mr. Quick was a farmer for Donald Morgan Farms.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in King Cemetery in Laurel Hill.

Mr. Quick is survived by a brother, Charlie V. Quick of Laurinburg.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McDougald Funeral Home.

Fernie E. Brown (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

COUNCIL -- Fernie Edward Brown, 85, of 857 Microwave Tower Road died Thursday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles R. Parker. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Annie B. Brown; three sons, Dr. Furney E. Brown Jr. of Durham, Bobby O. Brown of Council and Virgil D. Brown of Greenville; four daughters, Patricia A. Washington of Charlotte, Victoria J. Mask of Durham, Edwina Campbell of Hinesville, Ga., and Katrice Brown of Greensboro; and a brother, Roland Brown of Brooklyn, N.Y.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at Peoples Funeral Home chapel in Whiteville.

Thomas E. Elkins Sr. (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

GOLDSTON -- Thomas Eugene Elkins Sr., 76, of 2620 Bonlee Carbonton Road, formerly of Robbins, died Thursday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Bear Creek Baptist Church in Bear Creek by the Revs. Bob Wachs and Jan Clark. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Smith & Buckner Funeral Home of Siler City.

Mr. Elkins is survived by his wife, Betty C. Elkins of Goldston; a son, J.R. Elkins of Bear Creek; and a grandson.

Robert S. Melvin (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

RAEFORD -- Robert Schappelle Melvin, 35, of Raeford died Sunday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Turlington School Auditorium by elder Kenneth Kelly and Pastor Hosia McAllister. Burial will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Melvin is survived by his mother, Ethel L. Melvin of Raeford; four sisters, Ruby L. Stephens, Meta M. Melvin and Brenda D. Melvin, all of Raeford and Sharronda L. Melvin of Aberdeen; and three brothers, Benjamin Stephens of Red Springs and Artis Stephens and Gregory L. Johnson, both of Raeford; and his paternal grandmother, Pauline Melvin of Newport News, Va.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Buie Funeral Home.

Sean Dockery (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. -- Sean Dockery, 25, of Waynesville, formerly of Raeford, N.C., died Thursday.

Arrangements will be announced by Buie Funeral Home of Raeford.

Thomas W. Strickland (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

DUNN -- Thomas Wade Strickland, 87, of 1502 Brinkley Road died Friday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mr. Strickland was a heavy equipment operator. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel in Benson by the Rev. Leon Tart. Burial will be in Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church cemetery.

Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Spicey B. Strickland; a stepson, William S. Barefoot of Benson; a stepdaughter, Cynthia B. Norris of Dunn; two sisters, Pauline S. Byrd of Dunn and Lena S. Godwin of Godwin; and four step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Harold T. Edwards (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

BRUNSWICK -- Harold Teen Edwards, 64, of Cypress Street died Thursday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Carol H. Edwards; three sons, Lynn Edwards of Cerro Gordo, Jimmy Edwards of Whiteville and Tommy Edwards of Hallsboro; two daughters, Donna Smith of Ash and Rebecca Worley of Clarendon; two sisters, Dorothy Benton of Brunswick and Margurite Blackwell of Cerro Gordo; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.

David H. Bullard Sr. (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

WHITEVILLE -- David Henry Bullard Sr., 80, of Whiteville died Thursday in Columbus County Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Oak Dale Baptist Church by the Revs. Robert McNair and J.P. Williams. Burial will be in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Bullard is survived by four sons, David H. Bullard Jr., Burney C. Bullard, Ronnie Bullard and Michael Bullard, all of Whiteville; two daughters, Betty B. Simmons of Orrum and Katrine L. Hardee of Leland; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.

Mrs. Martha Ferguson (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

RED SPRINGS -- Mrs. Martha Ferguson, 51, of 638 W. Fourth Ave. died Monday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in First Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. W.J. Terry. Burial will be in Community Rest Cemetery.

Mrs. Ferguson is survived by her husband, Johnny N. Ferguson of New York; a daughter, Kimvett F. Moore of Red Springs; six sisters, Ida M. Black, Ollie Brown and Rosetta Johnson, all of Red Springs, Decola Maure of Philadelphia, Anges Darkery of Raeford and Bentrice Dockery of New York; and two brothers, Dannell Godfrey and Paul Godfrey, both of New York.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at L.E. Floyd Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nora Baldwin (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

ROCKINGHAM -- Mrs. Nora Baldwin, 65, of 1609 Pine St. died Thursday in Richmond Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by McEachern Funeral Home.

Herbert H. Mishue (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Herbert Hoover Mishue, 67, of Lot 112 Rosewood Mobile Home Park died Thursday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. today in Floyd Memorial chapel by the Revs. Randolph Browning and Charles Howell and Dr. Lynn Bullock.

Mr. Mishue is survived by his wife, Lula M. Mishue of the home; four sons, Robert Mishue, Curtis W. Mishue, Frankie G. Mishue and Greg Mishue, all of Lumberton; a brother, Marvin Mishue of Lumberton; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the funeral home.

Dennis J. Floyd (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

RAEFORD -- Dennis Johnson Floyd, 46, of 403 Bullard Drive died Sunday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Crumpler Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Billy J. Brady. Burial will be in Raeford Cemetery.

Mr. Floyd is survived by his wife, Dianne Floyd of Raeford; two sons, Shane Floyd of Fayetteville and D. Wayne Floyd of Raeford; his mother, Doris Floyd of Raeford; two sisters, Sandra Wiggins and Linda Hodgin, both of Raeford; and a grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sally H. Alford (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

CAMDEN, S.C. -- Mrs. Sally Howard Alford, 82, of Camden, formerly of St. Pauls, N.C., died Thursday in Lexington Medical Center in Columbia.

Mrs. Alford was a member of St. Pauls Presbyterian Church. She was a teacher in St. Pauls before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Pauls Presbyterian Church by the Rev. J. Blaney Pridgen III and David Ruth. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Alford is survived by a son, N. Kenneth Alford of Columbia; four sisters, Dixie Malpass of Currie, N.C., Ruth Moody of Parkton, N.C., Julia A. Morris of Charlotte, N.C., and Elsie Livingston of Greenwood; a brother, George Howard of Raleigh, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at McNeill Funeral Home in St. Pauls.

SANFORD -- David Lee Walker, 36, of 301 Wheel Hollow died Thursday in Central Carolina Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Watson Mortuary.

Roy L. Conner Sr. (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

BLADENBORO -- Roy Lee Conner Sr., 68, of 389 Sunset Park Road died Thursday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. today in Lewis-Bowen Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Bruce Cannon. Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery.

Mr. Conner is survived by wife, Josephine Conner; four sons, Roy L. Conner Jr., Glenn K. Conner, William D. Conner and Maurice W. Conner, all of Bladenboro; two daughters, Julia F. Hester and Lori A. Conner, both of Bladenboro; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Jessie J. Royals (Dated Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998)

CHADBOURN -- Jessie James Royals, 74, of 107 E. Holland St. died Friday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Worthington Funeral Home.
