LINDEN -- Mrs. Pauline Bowden Horton, 76, of 8024 White Sands Road died Wednesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Mrs. Horton was a member of Palestine Presbyterian Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Palestine Presbyterian Church by the Revs. William F. Bateman and Hubert Morgan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Horton is survived by three sons, Gerald R. Horton and Cleo Horton, both of Linden, and Lenwood A. Horton of Goldsboro; two daughters, Teresa Flowers of Dunn and Elsie Wilcox of the home; two sisters, Eunice Brock of Linden and Lucille Brock of Fayetteville; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Highland Funeral Service & Crematory in Fayetteville.
Alphonso C. Rhodes (Dated Friday, Nov. 27, 1998)
FLORENCE, S.C. -- Dr. Alphonso Christopher Rhodes, 32, of Florence, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Monday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Moore’s Swamp AME Church in Ivanhoe, N.C., by the Rev. McFee Bannerman. Burial will be in Moore’s Swamp Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Dunn Funeral Home of Burgaw, N.C.
Dr. Rhodes is survived by his wife, Tomyka C. Rhodes of the home; his parents, James L. and Nettie J. Rhodes of Fayetteville; two brothers, James Rhodes of Fresno, Calif., and Barry Rhodes of Georgia; and two sisters, Janette Babatunde of West Orange, N.J., and Janine Jenkins of Montclair, N.J.
Mrs. Janie G. Patterson (Dated Friday, Nov. 27, 1998)
PARKTON -- Mrs. Janie G. Patterson, 83, of Route 1, Box 47, died Wednesday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville.
Arrangements will be announced by Cunningham & Sons Mortuary.
Mrs. Elma M. Lewis (Dated Friday, Nov. 27, 1998)
ROBBINS -- Mrs. Elma Morrison Lewis, 97, of 300 N. Middleton St. died Wednesday in Pinelake Health Care Center in Carthage.
Mrs. Lewis was a member of Elise Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elise Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Dawes Graybeal and Dr. Jerry Vuncannon. Burial will be in the Bensalem Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by four daughters, Margaret L. Cleetwood of Carthage, Patricia L. Stephens of Winston-Salem and Hazel L. McLaurin and Betty L. Garner, both of Robbins; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

SANFORD -- Mrs. Florence Williams White, 82, of 141 Williams Farm Road died Wednesday in Central Carolina Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hunt Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Robbin Best. Burial will be in Broadway Town Cemetery.
Mrs. White is survived by her husband, Hoarce “Punch” White; two brothers, Richard Williams and Paul J. Williams, both of Sanford; and six sisters, Annie M. Stone, Pauline W. Cox, Rochelle W. Walker, Clara E. Dean and Frances E. Spivey, all of Sanford, and Eunabell W. Dickens of Broadway.

SOUTHERN PINES -- Ms. Shirley Ann Lipp, 66, of 105 Tanglewood Drive died Monday in her home.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Boles Funeral Home and Crematory chapel by Father Parkerson.
Ms. Lipp is survived by a sister, Jean Beauparlant of Lewiston, Mass.
Larry B. Grice (Dated Friday, Nov. 27, 1998)
FOUR OAKS -- Larry Bruce Grice, 49, of 4157 Strickland’s Crossroads Road died Wednesday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Mr. Grice was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for Hilltop Farms Inc. He was a member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bethel Free Will Baptist Church by the Revs. Emmitt Jones and Teddy Raynor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Grice is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Grice; a daughter, Amy G. Moore of Four Oaks; a son, Bradley A. Grice of the home; his mother, Elizabeth M. Grice; a sister, Sharon G. Langdon of Benson; and a brother, Stacy Grice of Four Oaks.

CLINTON -- Ms. Mattie M. Boone Faison, 70, of 3236 Rowan Road died Tuesday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Holly Grove Disciples Church by elder Terrell Powell. Burial will be in Sandhills Cemetery.
Ms. Faison is survived by a daughter, Linda Faison of Clinton; three sons, Glen Faison, Terry Faison and Larry Faison, all of Clinton; two sisters, Minnie Hicks of Clinton and Earnestine Aldridge of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, William Boone and Daniel Boone, both of Clinton; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Mrs. Brown is survived by a daughter, Pamela B. Shaw of Red Springs; a son, Albert Brown of Red Springs; a stepson, Gregory Johnson of Red Springs; two sisters, Dorothy S. Black of Red Springs and Angela Smith of Raeford; four brothers, Daniel Sinclair Jr. and Eric Sinclair, both of Red Springs, and Anthony Sinclair and E.J. Roberts, both of Fayetteville; her grandmother, Lola McNeill of Raeford; and five grandchildren.

WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Sally Estelle Horne, 86, of 200 Flowers Pridgen Road died Wednesday.
Mrs. Horne was a member of First Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church by Dr. Roger Gilbert. Burial will be in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Horne is survived by a son, Maurice W. Horne of Jamestown; a daughter, Nancy H. Dew of Whiteville; two sisters, Virginia Frye of Fayetteville and Ethel Scholl of Pinehurst; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

FAISON -- Harold Ray Jackson, 55, of 3335 Lake Artesia Road died Wednesday in his home.
Mr. Jackson was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church. He was a truck driver for Flemming Co. in Warsaw before retiring.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Grandview Memorial Park by the Rev. Ray Smith.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife, Brenda D. Jackson; two sons, Timothy R. Jackson of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Harold R. Jackson Jr. of Clinton; a daughter, Sharry L. Anders of Clinton; three brothers, William S. Jackson of Godwin, Ernest G. Jackson of Clinton and Orville J. Jackson of Faison; two sisters, Norman F. Wilson and Orma M. Anders, both of Clinton; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. McKnight is survived by four sons, Larry McLeod of Laurinburg, Richard McLeod of Durham and Nelson McKnight and Fred McKnight, both of Fayetteville; eight daughters, Mary McLeod and Vertry McKnight, both of Fayetteville, Gloria Miller of Savannah, Ga., Ella Bryant of West End and Phyllis McKnight, Tina McKnight, Janice McKnight and Joyce McKnight, all of Laurinburg; a brother, Dan McLeod of Philadelphia; four sisters, Ruth M. McNeil of Red Springs, Lenora McLeod and Ann-Lee Vincent, both of Pinehurst, and Sara J. McNeil of Fayetteville; 40 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Long is survived by three sons, Larry E. Long of Kure Beach, Christopher D. Long of Charlotte and Elwood K. Long of Chadbourn; two sisters, Eunice H. Nobles of Hallsboro and Vassie H. Blackmon of Old Dock; and a grandchild.
