LAUREL HILL -- Clayton Leroy Benson, 65, of 25061 Sneads Grove Road died Wednesday in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hillside Memorial Park by the Rev. Larry Singletary.
Mr. Benson is survived by a brother, Samuel D. Benson of Shelby; and four sisters, Eloise Herring of Greenville, Peggy Dehenke of Fall Creek, Wis., Patsy Riggs of Concord and Dolly A. Seaberry of Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Service.
H. Shelton Turlington (Dated Friday, Nov. 27, 1998)
BENSON -- H. Shelton Turlington, 81, of 3020 Benson-Hardee Road died Wednesday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.
Mr. Turlington was a member of Benson Baptist Church. He was a farmer.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Benson Baptist Church by the Revs. Kendall Cameron and Don Price. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Turlington is survived by his wife, Nannie W. Turlington; a son, Jimmy Turlington of Benson; a daughter, Carolyn Wood of Fayetteville; a sister, Dorothy T. Brady of Durham; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Jimmy and Lorraine Turlington, 2970 Benson-Hardee Road in Benson.
Ms. Hattie M. Cassese (Dated Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998)
Ms. Hattie McNatt Cassese, 83, of 1601 Purdue Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Village Green Care Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in St. James United Holy Church by the Rev. Ron Jones. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Tucker and Sons Funeral Home.
Ms. Cassese is survived by a son, Sidney Cassese of Uniondale, N.Y.; two brothers, Issac G. McNatt of Madison and Carl McNatt of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Artie Colter and Willa Melchor, both of Buffalo, N.Y.; a grandson; and a great-grandchild.

Harold Thompson, 39, of Fayetteville died Monday.

Retired Army Staff Sgt. Charles W. Lutes, 68, of Fayetteville died Monday in his home.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the LaFayette Funeral Home chapel.
Mr. Lutes is survived by his wife, Eileen Lutes of the home; three sons, Marty Lutes of Spartanburg, S.C., Mark Lutes of Virginia and Matthew Lutes of Fayetteville; two daughters, Maria Willis of Linden and Heidi Lutes of the home; two brothers, David Lutes of Sarasota, Fla., and Donnie Lutes of East Lake, Ohio; a sister, Patty DeJohn of Bridgeville, Pa.; and eight grandchildren.

Ms. Vivien Greene Storms, 89, of 1700 Pamalee Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Highland House Nursing Home.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Butters Baptist Church by the Rev. Clyde Coates. Burial will be in Singletary Cemetery in Butters.
Ms. Storms is survived by five sons, Raymond Storms of Carrollton, Va., J. Roscoe Storms of Hampton, Va., Bobby Storms of Clayton and Harvey D. Storms and Kenneth Storms, both of Roswell, N.M.; three daughters, Marion Storms of Butters, Evelyn Martin of Spring Lake and Pearese McCalley of Gainsville, Ga.; a sister, Cleone Murray of Naples, Fla.; a brother, H. Mitchel Hester of Bladenboro; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Dana James Shirley, 51, of 265 Shawcroft Road, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Shirley was a member of Hay Street United Methodist Church. He was a certified public accountant with Haigh Byrd and Lambert CPA’s.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Hay Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Carl Frazier. Burial will be in the Carty family cemetery in Autryville. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
Mr. Shirley is survived by his wife, Nancy W. Shirley of the home; two sons, Larry Bowden and Mark Bowden, both of Clinton; his mother, Marybelle W. Shirley of Autryville; two brothers, David T. Shirley and Harold O. Shirley, both of Autryville; a sister, Helen S. Nunnery of Autryville; and five grandchildren.

Craig and Charles Craig, both of Sanford; a sister, Edith Thomas of Sanford; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

WHITEVILLE -- Clifton Wesley Joyner, 83, of James B. White Highway North died Tuesday in Columbus County Hospital.

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Louise Stalvey McGoogan, 101, of 1000 Wesley Pines Road, formerly of St. Pauls, died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. McGoogan was a member of St. Pauls Presbyterian Church. She was also a retired teacher.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Pauls Presbyterian Church by the Rev. David Ruth. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by McNeill Funeral Home.
Mrs. McGoogan is survived by a son, Charles S. McGoogan of Burlington; two daughters, Sarah L. McNeill of St. Pauls and Anne Hopkins of Garner; two stepdaughters, Mary S. Calhoun of Laurinburg and Frances Robinson of Huntersville; two brothers, Dr. J. Ben Stalvey of Hialeah, Fla., and John C. Stalvey of Knightdale; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
