LUMBERTON -- Paul Willard Lamb, 79, of 204 LaFayette St. died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

James Westbrook (Dated Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998)

CLINTON -- James Westbrook, 76, of 2648 Basstown Road died Tuesday in his home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Grandview Memorial Park by the Rev. Charles R. Jernigan.

Mr. Westbrook is survived by his wife, Catherine C. Westbrook; a son, James G. Westbrook of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Sudie W. Bass of Clinton; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Royal-Hall Funeral Home.

Ms. Mary B. Coen (Dated Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998)

CHAPEL HILL -- Ms. Mary Belle Coen, 85, of Chapel Hill died Tuesday.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home North Elm Chapel of Greensboro.

Among Ms. Coen’s survivors is a half sister, Bobbie N. Redding of Fayetteville.

Joseph Ingram (Dated Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998)

Joseph Ingram, 51, of South Carolina, formerly of Hamlet, N.C., died Wednesday in Ridgeway Health Care.

Arrangements will be announced by Nelson Funeral Service of Hamlet.

Mrs. Sadie Cherry (Dated Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998)

CLINTON -- Mrs. Sadie Cherry, 80, of Clinton died Wednesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home.

Alphonso C. Rhodes (Dated Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998)

FLORENCE, S.C. -- Dr. Alphonso Christopher Rhodes, 32, of Florence died Monday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Moore’s Swamp AME Church in Ivanhoe by the Rev. MacFee Bannerman. Burial will be in Moore’s Swamp Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Dunn Funeral Home of Burgaw, N.C.

Among Mr. Rhodes’ survivors are his parents, James L. and Nettie J. Rhodes of Fayetteville, N.C.

Woodrow W. Edwards (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

BLADENBORO -- Woodrow Wilson Edwards, 85, of 19820 N.C. 131 South died Monday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in New Center Baptist Church by the Rev. George Langley. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Freewill Baptist Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Lewis-Bowen Funeral Home.

Mr. Edwards is survived by three sons, John Edwards of Whiteville and Kenneth Edwards and Horace Edwards, both of Bladenboro; five daughters, Mertice Ransom of Clarkton, Debbie Edwards of Lumberton and Hazel Babson, Faye Brown and Lois Smith, all of Bladenboro; two sisters, Naomi Ransom and Geneva Thompson, both of Bladenboro; a brother, Boyd Edwards of Bladenboro; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Christine D. McKee (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

Mrs. Christine Deaver McKee, 62, of 473 Wilder Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Highland House Nursing Home.

A private service will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home of Hope Mills.

Mrs. McKee is survived by two sons, Gary Skipper of Bladenboro and Greg Skipper of Sunset Beach; two daughters, Ginna Blackburn of Winston-Salem and Tiffney Bordeaux of Fayetteville; and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Rebecca B. Evans (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

FOUR OAKS -- Mrs. Rebecca Bain “Becky” Evans, 43, of 3192 Juniper Church Road died Monday in Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

Mrs. Evans was a member of Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church. She was a floor supervisor at the Oasis Rest Home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church by the Revs. Roger Carlson and Walter Pierce. Burial will be in the Dunn family cemetery.

Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband, Tony W. Evans; a daughter, Tonya E. Parker of Four Oaks; a son, Stacy Evans of Four Oaks; her parents, George and Grace C. Bain Jr.; three brothers, C.L. Bain of Erwin and Ray Bain and Randy Bain, both of Benson; her paternal grandfather, George Bain Sr. of Wade; and a granddaughter.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Johnston Memorial Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 1376, Smithfield, N.C. 27577.

Miss Kayla D. Hill (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

WHITEVILLE -- Miss Kayla Deandra Hill, infant daughter of Sadie M. Ragin, of 550 Bitmore Road, died Sunday in her home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. today in Cherry Grove Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home.

James L. Britt (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

CLINTON -- James Lester Britt, 75, of 699 Governor Moore Road died Tuesday in his home.

Mr. Britt was a retired farmer. He was a member of Browns Missionary Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Grandview Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Joel Story. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Mr. Britt is survived by four daughters, Faye B. Warren and Joyce B. Lippard, both of Clinton, Betsy B. Thornton of Faison and Joan B. Hobbs of Nashville; two sons, Ronnie L. Britt of Clinton and James T. Britt of Hamilton; a sister, Delia Thornton of Newton Grove; a brother, William Britt of Micro; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Mrs. Sue P. Shaw (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

EVERGREEN -- Mrs. Sue Pearl Price Shaw, 65, of 1086 Silver Spoon Road died Tuesday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Evergreen Baptist Church by the Revs. Donald E. Williams and Rick Astle. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Worthington Funeral Home.

Mrs. Shaw is survived by her husband, Robert M. Shaw of Evergreen; a son, Melvin Shaw Jr. of Reno, Nev.; a daughter, Tullie S. Herring of Evergreen; three brothers, Earl Price of Raleigh, Vance Price of Advance and Rex Price of Forest City; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Zola B. Coleman (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

RALEIGH -- Mrs. Zola B. Coleman, 58, of 904 Weston St., formerly of Benson, died Friday in Western Wake Medical Center in Cary.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Benson Chapel Church by elder Antonio Chrisp. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Dunn.

Mrs. Coleman is survived by two nephews, five aunts and two uncles.

The public will be received Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Dafford Funeral Home in Dunn.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Carrie Graham, 307 N. Hall St., Benson.

Jesse C. ‘Bud’ Thomas (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

SANFORD -- Jesse Corbitt “Bud” Thomas, 65, of 714 Westover Drive died Monday in Central Carolina Hospital.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Shallow Well United Church of Christ cemetery by the Rev. Donald Thompson. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Jackie J. Thomas of Sanford; a daughter, Jackie T. Thomas of Sanford; a son, Jerry C. Thomas of Goldston; a sister, Charlotte T. Burns of Sanford; two brothers, W.C. Thomas of Sanford and H. Grady Thomas of Wilson; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Miss Briana M. Gendreau (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

COATS -- Miss Briana Michelle Gendreau, infant daughter of Chris and Cristy Gendreau, died Tuesday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Devotional Gardens in Dunn by the Rev. Bobby Caudle. Arrangements are being handled by Rose & Graham Funeral Home of Benson.

In addition to her parents, Briana is survived by her maternal grandmother, Teresa Cottle of Coats; her maternal grandfather, Russell Brown of Smithfield; her paternal grandmother, Patti Gendreau of Dunn; her maternal great-grandparents, Junior and Clara Norris of Coats; and her paternal great-grandparents, Aloice and Margaret Bishop of Florida.

The family will receive friends at the home of Junior and Clara Norris, 327 Bailey Road, Coats.

Charles W. Lutes (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

Retired Staff Sgt. Charles W. Lutes, 68, of Fayetteville died Monday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by LaFayette Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gertrude G. Lloyd (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

Mrs. Gertrude Green Lloyd, 86, of 350 Shasta St., Fayetteville, died Monday in Hope Mills Retirement Home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Snyder Memorial Baptist Church chapel by the Revs. Sandy Saunders and Robert Lloyd. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lloyd is survived by a son, the Rev. Robert A. Lloyd of Puebla, Mexico; three daughters, Thelma F. Smith of Fayetteville, Louise G. House of Littleton, Colo., and Janice L. Simmons of Clinton; a brother, Abraham Green of Old Perlican, Newfoundland, Canada; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pauline C. Seawell (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Pauline Cox Seawell, 89, of 1411-D Live Oaks Estates died Monday in Scotland Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Seawell was a seamstress for Springs Mill before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Quinton Covington. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Mrs. Seawell is survived by two sons, Charles Seawell of Mount Holly and Curtis Seawell of Atlanta; a daughter, Myra Cooper of Laurinburg; a sister, Mildred Whitley of Cordova; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ruby H. Suggs (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

Mrs. Ruby Hornaday Suggs, 76, of Fayetteville died Monday in Carrolton Nursing Home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. David Weeks. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Suggs is survived by two sisters, Alice R. Norton of Greensboro and Myrtle E. Dick of Redwood City, Calif.
