Mrs. Prudie A. Evans (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Prudie Andrews Evans, 81, of 5201 Pineview Road died Monday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Terry R. ‘Butch’ Lucas (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

ZANESVILLE, Ohio -- Terry R. “Butch” Lucas, 53, of Zanesville, formerly of Laurinburg, N.C., died Tuesday in Genesis Hospice.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bolin Funeral Home by the Rev. Roger McElfresh. Burial will be in Mount Sterling Cemetery in Mount Sterling.

Mr. Lucas is survived by his wife, Roberta “Bobbi” Lucas of the home; his mother, Mary E. Lucas of Zanesville; his father, Robert E. Lucas of Hopewell; two brothers, Donald W. Lucas of Bidwell and Dick E. Lucas of Norwich; and three sisters, Sue A. Clark, Karen S. Adair and Sharon K. Theisen, all of Zanesville.

Ms. Mattie B. Faison (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

CLINTON -- Ms. Mattie M. Boone Faison, 70, of 3236 Rowan Road died Tuesday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.

Arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Beulah D. Hurst (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998)

ASHEVILLE -- Mrs. Beulah Evelyn Davis Hurst, 80, of 2 Fairway Drive, formerly of Spring Lake, died Monday in Mountain Area Hospice Center.

A memorial service will be held at noon today in Western North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain by the Rev. Robert Hawkins. Arrangements are being handled by Asheville Mortuary Services.

Mrs. Hurst is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Lee of La Grange, Ga., and Delores Thagard of Asheville; three sisters, Jo R. Egbert of Kentucky, Mary N. Derrico of Ohio and Donna J. Buckner of Tennessee; five brothers, Bill Davis of Kentucky, Bob Davis of Ohio, Trent Davis of California, Frank Davis of Tennessee and Vernon Davis of Mississippi; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Cornelius C. Kelly Jr. (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

RAEFORD -- Cornelius Corinthan Kelly Jr., infant son of Felicia Leach and Cornelius Kelly Sr., of 120 Midway Drive, Apartment 12, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

A graveside service was conducted at noon Monday in Oakhill Church cemetery in Wagram. Arrangements were handled by Buie Funeral Home.

In addition to his parents, Cornelius is survived by his maternal grandparents, Dave and Katie N. McKeithan of Raeford; and his paternal grandparents, Pernell and Betty Kelly of Raeford.

Robert S. Melvin (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

RAEFORD -- Robert Schapplle Melvin, 35, of 520 E. Sixth Ave. died Saturday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Buie Funeral Home.

J. Earl Raper (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

CAROLINA BEACH -- J. Earl Raper, 57, of Carolina Beach, formerly of Fayetteville, died Sunday in Tennessee.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home chapel in Wilson. Burial will be in Evergreen in Wilson.

Mr. Raper is survived by his wife, Vickie E. Raper of the home; two daughters, Cheryl Duke of Greenville and Diane Dembo of Fayetteville; his mother, Ruth T. Raper of Goldsboro; a sister, Elsie Hooks of Goldsboro; and a brother, Charles Raper of Texas.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ruby H. Suggs (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

Mrs. Ruby Hernandez Suggs, 76, of Fayetteville died Monday in Carrolton Nursing Home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. David Weeks. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mrs. Suggs is survived by two sisters, Alice R. Norton of Greensboro, and Myrtle E. Dick of Redwood City, Calif.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Massey Hill Baptist Church, 1027 Southern Ave., Fayetteville, N.C. 28306.

Robert McConnaughey Jr. (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

RED SPRINGS -- Robert Alston McConnaughey Jr., 75, of 113 S. College St. died Sunday in Robeson County.

Mr. McConnaughey was a member of Red Springs Presbyterian Church. He was an Air Force and National Guard veteran. He was also a farmer and retired from the postal service.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Red Springs Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Eugene Ensley. Burial will be in Alloway Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler Funeral Home.

Mr. McConnaughey is survived by Sara Paden of Red Springs; two daughters, Elizabeth A. McConnaughey of Liberty and Rebecca H. McConnaughey of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and a sister, Jane Boling of Knoxville, Tenn.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the home.

James E. Marsh (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

BLADENBORO -- James Edward Marsh, 60, of 16582 Twisted Hickory Road died Thursday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Sandhill Baptist Church by the Rev. P.R. Gerald. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Mr. Marsh is survived by his wife, Betty J. Marsh; three daughters, Betty J. Marsh of Bladenboro and Latacay McCray and Gwen McCray, both of Clarkton; and six sons, James E. Marsh Jr. of Oakland, Calif., Reggie D. Marsh of Bladenboro, and Jamie McCray, Jeremiah McCray, Brandon McCray and Michael McCray, all of Clarkton.

Neil V. Davis Jr. (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

Neil Vernon Davis Jr., 21, of 420 Brightwood Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Raleigh.

Mr. Davis was junior at the School of Business at N.C. State University in Raleigh. He was a field coordinator with American Communications Network and a partner with Interpoll Advertising in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Highland Presbyterian Church by Dr. Ernest Johnson and the Rev. Leighton McKeithan. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mr. Davis is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Davis of Fayetteville; two brothers, Kevin Davis of Missoula, Mont., and Brad Davis of Fayetteville; and his paternal grandmother, Virginia Haighwood of Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Jeffery Hobbs (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

CLINTON -- Jeffery Hobbs, 16, of Clinton died Saturday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home by the Rev. Billy Noel. Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery.

Jeffrey is survived by his father, Jeff Hobbs of Clinton; a sister, Sharon Hobbs of Clinton; his maternal grandparents, Bobbie and Carson Ammons of Clinton; and his paternal grandmother, Aileen Hobbs of Clinton.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ethel M. McIntyre (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

Mrs. Ethel Maynor McIntyre, 87, of Fayetteville died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Elim Baptist Church in Antioch by Pastors Bobby D. Locklear and James Dial. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. McIntyre is survived by a son, Johnson Locklear of Pembroke; two daughters, Nola Strickland and Christine Chapman, both of Fayetteville; a brother, McKinley Maynor of Red Springs; 24 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at LaFayette Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Maxine Jones, 898 Camden Road, Raeford.

Harry J. Estes (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

SANFORD -- Harry James Estes, 80, of 700 Westover Drive died Sunday in Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Larry Janey. Burial will be in Belmont Baptist Church cemetery in Burlington.

Mr. Estes is survived by his wife, Essie H. Estes; a son, the Rev. James R. Estes of Sanford; two brothers, Jack Estes of Burlington and Luke Estes of Belmont; three sisters, Madeline Eatman of Charlotte and Pawnee Wooten and Ruth Dobson, both of Burlington; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Donald K. Wright (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

TABOR CITY -- Donald Kerwin Wright, 61, of Tabor City died Sunday in Loris Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Inman Chapel by the Rev. David Todd. Burial will be in Powell Cemetery.

Among Mr. Wright’s survivors is a sister, Kay F. Radford of Hope Mills.

Leonard R. Farnung Jr. (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

Retired Air Force Maj. Leonard Robert Farnung Jr., 74, of 409 Dunmore Road, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted tonight at 8 in Highland Funeral Service & Crematory by the Rev. Riley Powell. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Fort Bragg Post Cemetery.

Mr. Farnung is survived by three sons, Leonard R. Farnung III of Merritt Island, Fla., Matthew Farnung of West Melbourne, Fla., and Chris P. Farnung of Raleigh; a daughter, Jean M. Willhite of Melbourne; a brother, Frank Farnung of Asbury Park, N.J.; a sister, Mary Shea of Redwood City, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Rosemarie Abbott (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

SPRING LAKE -- Mrs. Rosemarie Abbott, 70, of 109 N. Sixth St. died Saturday in Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel by Chaplain Maj. Valerie DeLong. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

Mrs. Abbott is survived by her husband, James M. Abbott of Spring Lake; and two sisters, Adele Ely of Dale City, Va., and Olga Snider of Germany.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Margaret Pittman (Dated Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998)

MOBILE, Ala. -- Ms. Margaret Pittman, 90, of 2395 East Road, formerly of Rowland, N.C., died Saturday in Day Manor Nursing Home.

Ms. Pittman was a member of Rowland Presbyterian Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Rowland Presbyterian Church in Rowland by the Rev. William Link. Burial will be in Asbury Methodist Church cemetery in Raynhan, N.C. Arrangements are being handled by Gaskins Funeral Home.

Ms. Pittman is survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends today from 1 to 2 at the church.
