HOPE MILLS -- Alonzo Raeford, 85, of Hope Mills died Saturday in Village Green Health Care Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Yvonne Hammond (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Yvonne Hammond, 62, of 3269 Bluegrass Court died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Reeves Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Donnie Anderson.

Mrs. Hammond is survived by her husband, Roger Hammond; a son, Bill Hammond of Hope Mills; two daughters, Sheryl Johnson of Hampton, Ga., and Sharon Parker of Hope Mills; a brother, Jackie Shannon of Manteo; a sister, Pauline Gray of Arlington, Va.; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Daisy N. Moore (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

ERWIN -- Mrs. Daisy Norden Moore, 74, of 508 W. F St. died Friday in Good Hope Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Erwin Church of God by the Rev. Currie Parker. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park.

Mrs. Moore is survived by a son, Thomas W. Moore of Erwin; three daughters, Debbie Tyndall and Kathy Parrish, both of Erwin, and Donna J. Cobb of Birmingham, Ala.; a sister, Grace Helms of Georgia; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Price Funeral Home.

James Cromartie (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- James Cromartie, 56, of Brooklyn, formerly of Dublin, N.C., died Thursday in Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Lewis Cemetery in Dublin by the Rev. Curtis Henderson.

Mr. Cromartie is survived by a son, David Cromartie of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Catherine Stukes of Wilmington, N.C.; three brothers, Earl Cromartie, Al Cromartie and Robert Cromartie, all of Manhattan; and a sister, Reatha M. White of Dublin.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Funeral Home.

Clyde A. Brewer (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

ROBBINS -- Clyde Andrew Brewer, 85, of 470 Emma Lane died Friday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mr. Brewer was a former owner and operator of Central Hardware and Furniture Co. He was also a member of Woodmen of the World.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Ernest Ferrell. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

Mr. Brewer is survived by his wife, Eula W. Brewer of the home; a daughter, Margaret B. McGill of Burke, Va.; a son, Anthony C. “Tony” Brewer of Sanford; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kennedy Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 400, Robbins, N.C. 27325.

Michael Craigmiles Jr. (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

RAEFORD -- Michael Craigmiles Jr., infant son of Felecia Quinn and Michael Craigmiles of Raeford, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

A graveside service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Silver Grove Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Butler Funeral Home.

In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by a brother, Courtney Virgil of Raeford; his maternal grandmother, Shirley Quinn of Raeford; and his paternal grandparents, Inez and William Craigmiles Jr. of Raeford.

Ms. Zola B. Coleman (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

RALEIGH -- Ms. Zola B. Coleman, 58, of 904 Weston St., formerly of Benson, died Friday in Western Wake Medical Center in Cary.

Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.

Mrs. Bertha T. Moore (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Bertha L. Thompson Moore, 66, of Lot 94, Sunset Mobile Home Park, died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Holy Swamp Baptist Church by the Rev. Wilson Brewington. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Moore is survived by four daughters, Shirlean Graham, Brenda Davis, Cynthia Thompson and Estralia Moore, all of Lumberton; three sons, Alonzo Moore of Charlotte, Sgt. Dewitt Moore of Georgia and Spencer Moore of Lumberton; her father, Clarence Thompson of Lumberton; four brothers, Earl Thompson of Pembroke and Osborne Thompson, Larry Thomspson and Arnold Thompson, all of Lumberton; five sisters, Bernice Small and Doretha Thompson, both of Baltimore, Clara Thompson and Betty Jones, both of Lumberton, and Cedelia Swindell of Texas; 22 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Everette ‘Hoss’ Scarboro (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

ABERDEEN -- Everette “Hoss” Scarboro, 46, of Aberdeen died Friday in his home.

Mr. Scarboro owned and operated Aberdeen Lock Shop. He was also a former member of the Aberdeen Rescue Squad.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church by the Revs. Sandy Yow and Dennis Patterson. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mr. Scarboro is survived by his wife, Carol T. Scarboro; two daughters, Rebecca A. Scarboro and Sarah E. Scarboro, both of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Scarboro of Aberdeen; three brothers, James “Chester” Scarboro and Robert Scarboro, both of Aberdeen, and Jerry Scarboro of Raeford; and three sisters, Margaret Burns of Pinebluff, Kathy Samples of Lakeview and Linda Scarboro of Concord.

The family will receive friends after the memorial service.

John E. Gilmore (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

SANFORD -- John E. Gilmore, 78, of 1101 Cool Springs Road died Saturday in Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Cool Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Ira Sutton. Burial will be in Lee Memory Gardens.

Mr. Gilmore is survived by his wife, Violette L. Gilmore of Sanford; a daughter, Vicki Gilmore of Raleigh; and a sister, Armitta G. Lelong of Richmond, Va.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Cool Springs Baptist Church building fund, 1313 Cool Springs Road, Sanford, N.C. 27330.

Mrs. Dorothy B. Krauss (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

WHITE LAKE -- Mrs. Dorothy Bush Krauss, 81, of 86 Bladen St. died Saturday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

A memorial service will be held at noon today in Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church by the Rev. Corbin Ketchersid. Arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Home.

Mrs. Krauss is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth C. Krauss of White Lake.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Fund.

Mrs. Shirley A. Russ (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

CLARKTON -- Mrs. Shirley Jean Averitte Russ, 60, of 778 Ward Farm Road died Saturday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Lewis Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael Thompson. Burial will be in McKinnon Cemetery.

Mrs. Russ is survived by her husband, Richard Russ of the home; two daughters, Ramona L. Russ of Elizabethtown and Vickie J. Haynes of Burgaw; three sisters, Barbara Lambert of Summerville, S.C., Janice Blake of Wilmington and Virginia Yambureau of Tampa, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bessie S. Hunt (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

ROWLAND -- Mrs. Bessie Spaulding Hunt, 88, of 2029 Gerald Road died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mrs. Hunt was a homemaker and a farmer. She was also a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Piney Grove Baptist Church in Fairmont by the Revs. Crafton Chavis and Johnie Chavis. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hunt is survived by three daughters, Barbara A. Hunt of the home and Annease Hunt and Roberta Hunt, both of Fairmont; two sons, Lee R. Hunt of Rowland and Delton Hunt of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Vance Spaulding of Lumberton and Vincent Spaulding of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Vashtie Spaulding of Lumberton; 38 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont.

Mrs. Loretta W. Myers (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

CHADBOURN -- Mrs. Loretta West Myers, 75, of 287 Gillard Road died Saturday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Corinth Baptist Church by the Rev. Elmore Strickland. Burial will be in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Myers is survived by her husband, Oneal S. Myers of Chadbourn.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Worthington Funeral Home.

Paul J. Williams (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

SALEMBURG -- Paul Jerome Williams, 30, of 1865 Laurel Lake Road died Friday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

Mr. Williams was a member of the Salemburg Fire Department.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Salemburg Baptist Church by the Revs. Jimmy Suggs and Sandy Marks. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Denise H. Williams of the home; two daughters, Heather Williams and Candace Williams, both of Erwin; two sons, Joshia Williams of Erwin and Tyler Williams of the home; his mother and stepfather, Jean and Melvin Arrasmith of Dunn; her father and stepmother, Thomas and Nell Williams of Kinston; and two brothers, Philip Williams and Patrick Williams, both of Dunn.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Home.

Earl B. Cummings (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

PEMBROKE -- Earl B. Cummings, 57, of 3876 N.C. 710 died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

James Crowley (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

RAEFORD -- James Crowley, 94, of Raeford died Saturday in Autumn Care of Raeford.

Arrangements will be announced by Crumpler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Otella Locklear (Dated Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998)

ST. PAULS -- Mrs. Otella Locklear, 68, of 13135 South 301 died Saturday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Galilee Baptist Church by the Revs. Ricky Deese and Larry Lowery. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Locklear is survived by her husband, Ernest Locklear of St. Pauls; six sons, Tim Locklear and Ernest S. Locklear, both of Pembroke, Ricky Locklear of St. Pauls and Mark W. Locklear, Kenneth R. Locklear and Mitchell Locklear, all of Lumberton; three daughters, Debra S. Callaban of Parkton, Donna K. Locklear of Fayetteville and Renee Locklear of St. Pauls; three sisters, Ethel Bell of Lumberton, Ruth Jones of Fayetteville and Mary Watson of Mitchell, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight beginning at 7 at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Pembroke.
