Barry M. McClinton (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998)
Barry Maurice McClinton, 28, of 1065 Strickland Bridge Road, Fayetteville, died Thursday.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Pleasant Grove Disciple Church by the Rev. Oliver L. Evans. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park.
Mr. McClinton is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Jones and Natalie N. McClinton, both of Fayetteville; his parents, James and Gloris McClinton Jr. of Lexington, S.C.; a sister, Michelle D. Morris of Fayetteville; four brothers, Spc. Sherwood W. McClinton and Michael D. McClinton, both of Fayetteville, and James McClinton III and Julian McClinton, both of Lexington; and his maternal grandmother, Dora G. Evans of Fayetteville.
The public will be received today from 2 to 7 p.m. at H.M. Colvin Funeral Home.
Bobby Elliott (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998)
Bobby Elliott, 55, of 110 Mary St., Fayetteville, died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Tucker & Sons Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Abe Elliott. Burial will be in Cumberland Union Church cemetery in Linden. Arrangements are being handled by Butler & Son Funeral Home of Roseboro.
Mr. Elliott is survived by a daughter, Samantha Elliott of Durham; two sons, Vicent Elliott of Greensboro and Michael Elliott of Fayetteville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Elliott of Fayetteville; two sisters, Shirley Ray of Fayetteville and Frances Butler of Roseboro; two brothers, Jerry Elliott and Frankie Elliott, both of Fayetteville; and two grandchildren.
Richard P. ‘Dick’ Taylor (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998)
Richard Pelham “Dick” Taylor, 80, of 411 Vista Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in his home.
Mr. Taylor was a deacon and an elder emeritus at First Presbyterian Church. He was also a former manager of the Radisson Prince Charles Hotel. He was the chairman of the Board of Urban Ministry and served on the Southeastern Hotel Association board of directors.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church by Drs. John W. Coker Jr. and James B. McCoy III. A private burial will be held in Cross Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Elizabeth P. Taylor of the home; a son, Richard P. Taylor Jr. of Raleigh; a daughter, Julia T. Milton of Greensboro; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the church after the memorial service.

Mrs. Lorraine Harris-Stewart, 81, of 311 Hawthorne Road, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

GODWIN -- Joel C. Holland, 92, of Route 1, Box 50, died Sunday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.
Mr. Holland was a retired farmer and carpenter.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Antioch Baptist Church in Falcon by the Rev. Al Bean. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mary C. Nowell (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998)
BENSON -- Mrs. Mary Carole Nowell, 55, of 4690 N.C. 50 South died Monday in her home.
Mrs. Nowell was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also a homemaker.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Glenn McCullen. Burial will be in Banner Chapel Church cemetery.
Mrs. Nowell is survived by her husband, David A. Nowell; three daughters, Millicent N. Montgomery of Raleigh and Anjanette N. McLamb and Sarah N. Reaves, both of Benson; a son, Norman Peede of Atlanta; her mother, Mary J. Hawn; and two grandsons.

James Eaddy (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998)
VASS -- James Eaddy, 65, of 334 Burns Road died Sunday.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Frye’s Chapel Church. Arrangements are being handled by Knotts Funeral Home of Sanford.
Mr. Eaddy is survived by his wife, Evelyn Eaddy of the home; two daughters, Regina Eaddy of Siler City and Brenda Eaddy of Raleigh; and a brother, Vernon Eaddy of Vass.
Ms. Hathleen B. Smart (Dated Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998)
BUNNLEVEL -- Ms. Hathleen B. Smart, 74, of Bunnlevel died Tuesday.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home chapel in Lillington by the Rev. Bynum Mauney. Burial will be in Bunnlevel Cemetery.
Ms. Smart is survived by three sons, N. Cameron Cockman, G. Britt Cockman and Ronald L. Cockman, all of Bunnlevel; a sister, Juliette Jernigan of Dunn; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Britt Cockman.

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Elizabeth Davis, 75, of 5048 Cameron Road died Monday in her home.

Mrs. Davis is survived by a son, Jon M. Davis of Duluth, Ga.; two sisters, Dorothy Cummins and Margaret Swanson, both of Hope Mills; and a granddaughter.

WALLACE -- J.D. Howard, 90, of Wallace Nursing Center, formerly of Salemburg, died Friday in Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw.

Mr. Howard is survived by four stepdaughters, Lorene Melvin, Cora Tucker and Equilla Pridgen, all of Salemburg, and Jessie Smith of Philadelphia; five stepsons, Martin Howard and Henry Howard, both of Salemburg, Samuel Howard of Fayetteville, Atlas Howard of Connecticut and David Howard of Bronx, N.Y.; a sister, Annie McIntyre of Dunn; and several grandchildren.

ORRUM -- Mrs. Dessie Johnson Floyd, 88, of 1584 Foley Road died Monday in N.C. Cancer Institute in Lumberton.
Mrs. Floyd was a homemaker and a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bethesda United Methodist Church by the Rev. Richard Sharp and Dr. Thomas L. Rich. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Floyd is survived by three daughters, Billie D. Lupo of the home, Gail Hayes of Fairmont and Rachel Adams of Grandy; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Mrs. Erline Hayman Evans, 77, of Elizabethtown died Monday in her home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Old Trinity United Methodist Church cemetery by the Revs. Fred Davis and K.C. Lennon. Arrangements are being handled by Kinlaw Funeral Home.
Mrs. Evans is survived by a daughter, Sharon Stahl of New Bern; two sons, Spencer Evans of Clarendon and Walter E. Evans Jr. of Wilmington; a sister, Carolyn Barham of Olde Towne, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

LUMBERTON -- Roy Alton Mixon, 55, of Etheridge Lane died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 5 p.m. today in Floyd Memorial chapel by the Rev. Joe Bounds. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
Mr. Mixon is survived by his wife, Linda Mixon of the home; three sons, Christopher Hunt, James T. Hunt and Jonathan Mixon, all of Lumberton; his mother, Lois Campbell of Charleston, S.C.; three half brothers, William Campbell, Ronnie Campbell and Melton Mixon, all of Charleston; three half sisters, Carlene, Diane and Birdie, all of Charleston; and two grandchildren.
