CLINTON -- Joseph W. Hall, 77, of 321 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. died Monday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lisbon Street Baptist Church by the Rev. H.R. Cogdell. Burial will be in Sandhills Cemetery.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Annie Hall of the home; two sons, Jarvis A. Hall of Durham and Tony Hall of Greensboro; four sisters, Gladys McKoy, Hattie Hall, Jeanette Hall and Sally Seabrook, all of Clinton; a brother, William Hall of Cary; and three grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 1 to 6 p.m. at Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home.
John R. Murrell Jr. (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)
HARRELLS -- John Robert Murrell Jr., 76, of 3274 Buckhorn Road died Friday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Roseville Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Issac Johnson. Burial will be in the Murrell family cemetery.
Mr. Murrell is survived by six sons, Bobby Murrell, John Murrell, Charles Murrell, Paul Murrell, Norman Murrell and Tracy Murrell, all of Harrells; two daughters, Linda Smith of Beaufort and Dianne Eakins of Harrells; his stepmother, Deaver Smith of Dunn; two sisters, Dollie Davis and Lillian Davis, both of Beaufort; a stepbrother, James C. Murrell of Harrells; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
Truby G. Proctor (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)
CHAPEL HILL -- Truby Groce Proctor, 62, of Chapel Hill, formerly of Lee County, died Monday in his home.
He was chairman and chief executive officer for Lee Moore Oil Company and was former owner of Atlantic & Western Railroad. Mr. Proctor was founder of the Pantry Stores.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford by the Revs. G. Paul Carr Jr., Bill Bateman and Tim Smith. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home of Sanford.
Mr. Proctor is survived by two sons, Frank E. Proctor of Hong Kong and Truby J. Proctor of Boone; his mother, Erma Proctor of Sanford; and a sister, Patricia P. Bradley of Marietta, Ga.
The family will receive friends after the service at Lee Moore Oil Co.

Ms. Bessie H. Westbrook (Dated Wednesday, March 25, 1998)
Ms. Bessie H. Westbrook, 54, of 309 Sampson St., Cumberland County, died Monday.
She attended Clinton Baptist Temple and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies’ Auxiliary.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home chapel in Clinton. Burial will be in Rowan Baptist Church cemetery.
Ms. Westbrook is survived by two daughters, Ramona Hall of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Barbara Morrison of Fayetteville; two sons, Tony Westbrook and Jay Westbrook, both of Clinton; three sisters, Christine Stallings of Fayetteville, and Loretta Price and Peggy Edwards, both of Clinton; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Margarett McLean, 56, of 231 Tree Top Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

FAIRMONT -- Mrs. Claudia Elizabeth Corona Locklear, 28, of Fairmont died Tuesday.
A Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lumberton. Burial will be at a later date in Monclova, Mexico. Arrangements are being handled by Cape Fear Crematory of Fayetteville.
Mrs. Locklear is survived by her husband, Craig Locklear of Fairmont; her father, Jose C. Mejia of Monclova; her mother, Bertha D. Ortega of Monclova; two brothers; and one sister.
Miss Vanessa C. Duran (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)
FAIRMONT -- Miss Vanessa Galilea Corona Duran, 3, of Fairmont died Tuesday.

LUMBERTON -- Ms. Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez Torres, 39, of Lumberton died Tuesday.

Ms. Torres is survived by her father, Homero G. Lopez of Monclova; two sisters, Elsa G. Torres of Monclova and Rosa G. Torres of Monterrey, Mexico; and six brothers, Raul G. Torres, Jorje G. Torres, Fransisco G. Torres, Hector G. Torres, Mario G. Torres and Jose G. Torres, all of Monclova.
George P. Miklos (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)
PINEHURST -- George P. Miklos, 66, of Pinehurst died Friday in his home.
Mr. Miklos was retired from General Dynamics Corp. in Sterling Heights, Mich. He worked with the Country Club of North Carolina and was a member of Pinehurst Country Club.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Village Chapel. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home and Crematory.
Mr. Miklos is survived by his wife, Barbara B. Miklos; and two stepsons, Jahn Zielinski and Donald Zielinski, both of Greensboro.

Welton Hill (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)
HAMLET -- Welton Hill of 407 Oakland Ave. died Feb. 8 in Hamlet Hospital.
He was retired from the postal service.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Green Chapel AME Zion Church by the Rev. Kirby Woodard. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Nelson Funeral Service.
Mr. Hill is survived by a daughter, Nori Hill of New York; and several grandchildren.
Dill B. Ellis (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)
PINEHURST -- Retired Army Lt. Col. Dill Baynard Ellis, 81, of Country Club of North Carolina died Friday.
He was a veteran of World War II, former president of Anderson Bank of Dillon, S.C., and a retired schoolteacher and administrator for Dillon School District II. Mr. Ellis was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Dillon.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Main St. United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dillon. Arrangements are being handled by Kannaday’s Funeral Home of Dillon.
Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife, Chellis B. Ellis of Pinehurst; a son, Thomas B. Ellis of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Rebekah A. Ellis of Staten Island, N.Y. and Anne E. Black of Lexington, S.C.; a sister, Maude E. DuRant of Summerville, S.C.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home.

LILLINGTON -- Alton S. Campbell Sr., 60, of 1327 Tim Currin Road died Wednesday in Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital in Dunn.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Norrington AME Zion Church by the Rev. Michael Bell. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his mother, Fannie McLean of Lillington; a daughter, Kandice Campbell of Waynesboro, Ga.; and two sons, Andrea Campbell and Junior Campbell, both of Waynesboro.
The public will be received Monday from 2 to 7:30 p.m. at Dafford Funeral Home in Dunn.
Mrs. Mattie W. Riley (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)
PINEHURST -- Mrs. Mattie Wallace Riley, 75, of Pinehurst Nursing Center, formerly of Aberdeen, died Friday.
She was retired from Proctor Silex Corp. in Southern Pines and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Southern Pines.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Taylors Memorial Baptist Church cemetery in Jackson Springs by the Revs. David Keck and Scott Homesley. Arrangements are being handled by McKeithan Funeral Home of Mt. Gilead.
Mrs. Riley is survived by her husband, Walter C. Riley of the home; two sons, Larry Riley of High Point and Johnny F. Riley of Pinebluff; and a brother, Edgar Wallace of Elfers, Fla.
Charles E. Caddell (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)
ABERDEEN -- Charles Everette Caddell, 75, of 408 Elm St. died Friday in Pinelake Nursing Center in Carthage.
He was a retired textile worker and a member of Aberdeen First Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Aberdeen First Baptist Church by the Revs. Charles Hinson and Gary Bodford. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery.
Mr. Caddell is survived by his wife, Lena M. Caddell; a son, Charles E. Caddell Jr. of Aberdeen; two daughters, Gail Garner of Aberdeen and Donna Thompson of Pinebluff; a sister, Gertrude C. Maness of Winston-Salem; and eight grandchildren.

ERWIN -- Mrs. Ruth McLeod Avery, 90, of Route 1 died Saturday in Britthaven Nursing Home.
She was a retired nurse for Good Hope Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Erwin Church of God by the Rev. Currie Parker. Burial will be in Erwin Memorial Park.
Mrs. Avery is survived by a daughter, Ellen Blanchard of Erwin; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
