CARTHAGE -- Earl Douglas Presley, 52, of Carthage died Saturday in Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Cross Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Al Martin. Arrangements are being handled by Fry-Prickett Funeral Home.

Mr. Presley is survived by three sisters, Nancy Crabtree of Jacksonville, Fla., Frances Martin of Anniston, Ala. and Margaret Thomas of Charleston, S.C.; and a brother, J. Curtis Presley of Carthage.

The family will receive friends at the home of J. Curtis Presley, Holly Street, Carthage.

Mrs. Evelyn E. Plante (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

Mrs. Evelyn Eva Plante, 71, of 5419 Birch Road, Fayetteville, died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.

William A. Conway (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

William Anthony Conway, 48, of 5612 Birch Road died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Reeves Funeral Home in Hope Mills.

Charles J. Moore (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. -- Charles Jay Moore, 56, of Summerville, formerly of Lillington, N.C., died Friday in Southport, N.C.

Arrangements will be announced by O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home of Lillington.

Mrs. Ruby W. Seaford (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

ABERDEEN -- Mrs. Ruby Wood Seaford, 76, of 1776 Strother Road died Saturday.

She was a registered nurse and a retired nursing supervisor for the N.C. Department of Corrections. Mrs. Seaford was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Shiloh Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Ladd Brearley. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Seaford is survived by a son, Eugene R. Seaford Jr. of Aberdeen; a brother, Hoover Wood; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Southern Pines and at other times at 450 Strother Road, Aberdeen

Memorials may be made to Shiloh Presbyterian Church, care of church treasurer, 127 Ruth St., Aberdeen, N.C. 28315; or to Hospice of Hoke County, P.O. Box 879, Raeford, N.C. 28376.

Lee G. Bridges (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Lee Grant Bridges, 71, of 3778 Murphy Road, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Tucker & Sons Funeral Home.

Robert E. Edwards (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

GRANTSBORO -- Robert Elbert Edwards, 89, of Brithaven Nursing Home, formerly of Red Springs, died Friday in Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Westside Baptist Church in Red Springs by the Rev. Eric Rich. Burial will be in Alloway Cemetery.

Mr. Edwards is survived by a son, Bob Edwards of Minnesott Beach; a brother, Palmer Edwards of Red Springs; a half brother, Ertel Edwards of Fayetteville; two half sisters, Annie M. Grantham and Dot Sayer, both of Fayetteville; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crumpler Funeral Home in Red Springs.

Ms. Signora R. Martin (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

CLINTON -- Ms. Signora Robertson Martin, 87, of 3325 Union School Road died Saturday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home by the Rev. Patrick Winkler. Burial will be in Clinton City Cemetery.

Ms. Martin is survived by three sons, Cecil Martin, Bobby Martin and Billy Martin, all of Clinton; three sisters, Mary S. Davis of Butner, and Gladys Clayton and Margaret Sparks, both of Roxboro; two brothers, Rudolph Robertson and Jack Robertson, both of Roxboro; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

Ms. Betty R. Richards (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

Ms. Betty R. Richards, 65, of 1783 Roanoke Road, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

She was a member of Person Street United Methodist Church and a retired civil service worker at Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Wilson Strickhausen. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Ms. Richards is survived by four daughters, Denise Segelstrom of Pittsburgh, Beth Maule of Chicago, Cathy Richards of Fayetteville and Emily Conway of Greenville; a brother, R. Louis Ray of Florence, S.C.; a sister, DeMarys Smith of Fayetteville; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Person Street United Methodist Church, 509 Person St., Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.

Mrs. Maude H. Edge (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

LONGS, S.C. -- Mrs. Maude Hyatt Edge, 83, of Longs community died Saturday in McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Loris by the Revs. Doyce Norris and Grover Johnson. Entombment will be in Twin City Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Arrangements are being handled by Hardwick Funeral Home of Loris.

Among Mrs. Edge’s survivors is a daughter, Carol Holmes of Hope Mills, N.C.

James E. Brown (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

James E. Brown, 50, of 1017 Xavier Drive, Fayetteville, died Saturday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by H.M. Colvin Funeral Home.

Ms. Shelia F. Locklear (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Ms. Shelia Faye Locklear, 44, of 2313 Rosenwald St. died Friday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Deep Branch Baptist Church by the Revs. Billy Burns, James A. Hunt and Lee Hunt. Burial will be in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Locklear is survived by her mother, Minnie Locklear of Lumberton; two brothers, James S. Locklear and David R. Lowery, both of Lumberton; and two sisters, Pattie F. Jones and Linda F. Lewis, both of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Biggs Funeral Home.

Mrs. Louise T. Hill (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Louise Thompson Hill, 84, of Whiteville died Saturday in Chapel Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare.

She was a member of First Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Roger Gilbert. Burial will be in the Hill family cemetery.

Mrs. Hill is survived by two sons, John K. Hill of Carrboro and James E. Hill Jr. of Whiteville; two sisters, Mildred T. Walker of Whiteville and Margarite T. Gatewood of Tekamah, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McKenzie Mortuary.

John M. Mosley (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

SPRING LAKE -- John Michael Mosley, infant son of John and Harvette Mosley of Spring Lake, died recently at Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg.

A private burial will be Monday in the Main Post Cemetery on Fort Bragg. Arrangements are being handled by Highland Funeral Service.

Nathaniel P. Brown (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

ERWIN -- Nathaniel Pierce Brown, 70, of Erwin died Saturday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired loom fixer for Erwin Mills.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Billy Nowell. Burial will be in Bunnlevel Cemetery.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Ruby S. Brown; a daughter, Becky B. Nelson of Erwin; three sisters, Josephine McNeill and Faye Darroch, both of Lillington, and Margaret Thornton of Wilmington; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Skinner Funeral Home in Dunn.

Edward G. Lyde (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

ST. PAULS -- Edward Graham Lyde, 81, of 747 Dean Road died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mrs. Thelma S. Faircloth (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

ST. PAULS -- Mrs. Thelma Smith Faircloth, 84, of 1052 E. Great Marsh Church Road died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

She was a retired textile worker.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in McNeill Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. Hal Stephens and Gerald Wilson. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Faircloth is survived by two sons, David Smith of St. Pauls and William Smith of Fayetteville; four daughters, Joyce Britt of the home, Annie Edge and Peggy Smith, both of St. Pauls, and Dean Bailey of Stewart, Miss.; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Elgie S. Barbour (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

BENSON -- Mrs. Elgie S. Barbour, 56, of 494 Stephenson Road died Saturday in Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

She was employed by N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. Bernon Adams and R.B. Parrish. Burial will be in Plymouth Church cemetery near Raleigh.

Mrs. Barbour is survived by her husband, Donald R. Barbour; two sons, Randy G. Blalock of Norfolk, Va., and Thomas E. Blalock of Willow Springs; a stepson, Scott R. Barbour of Clayton; three sisters, Glenda M. Smith and Linda H. Byrd, both of Angier, and Brenda H. Workman of Wendell; two brothers, Gerald Honeycutt of Smithfield and Bennie S. Honeycutt of Raleigh; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Glenda M. Smith, 934 Greenleaf Road, Angier.

Mrs. Sandra K. Young (Dated Sunday, March 1, 1998)

SALEMBURG -- Mrs. Sandra Rebecca King Young, 56, of 316 S. Main St. died Saturday in her home.

She was employed by Southern Bank.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Zoar Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Revs. Bryon Murray, Clyde Shelton and W.O. Reiber. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Young is survived by her husband, J. Ray Young of the home; a daughter, Angela Naylor of Salemburg; a son, Jeffrey Young of Salemburg; a sister, Pheobia Hinson of Newport News, Va.; four brothers, Horace King, Ronnie King, Frank King and C.E. King, all of Clinton; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and at other times at the home.
