FOXFIRE VILLAGE -- Mrs. Bettie Lou Robertson, 76, of Foxfire Village died Sunday in her home.

She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Mar. 23 in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Mrs. Robertson is survived by two sons, Greg L. Robertson of Springfield, Va., and Stanley A. Robertson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and one grandson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home & Crematory in Seven Lakes.

Kerry A. Mortensen (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

Kerry Allen Mortensen, 29, of 264 Squire Lane, Fayetteville, died Monday in his home.

The family will receive friends at the home of William and Ann Mortensen, 414 Morley Drive.

Arrangements will be announced by LaFayette Funeral Home.

Jackie M. Ransom (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

Jackie Marion Ransom, 46, of Fayetteville died Sunday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Raeford Cemetery.

Mr. Ransom is survived by a son, Bobby D. McAteer of Hope Mills; his mother, Joyce O. Cole of Fayetteville; a brother, Michael Warren of Stedman; two sisters, Joyce Ann Chavis of Fayetteville and Cindy K. Lugabill of Sanford; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Crumpler Funeral Home in Raeford.

Mrs. Gertrude T. Baker (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

Mrs. Gertrude Tew Baker, 77, of Route 30 Box 110, Fayetteville, died Monday in her home.

Mrs. Baker was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Gray’s Creek Women’s Club.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Mount Pisgah Baptist Church by the Rev. Ray Ammons. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Baker is survived by two sons, Thomas H. Baker of Lillington and James F. Baker of Raeford; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Elizabethtown Road, Fayetteville, N.C.

Mrs. Elizabeth Hubbard (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

Mrs. Elizabeth Morgan Hubbard, 83, of 123 Starhill Ave., Fayetteville, died Monday in Highland House Nursing Home.

Mrs. Hubbard was a member of Hay Street United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Long Leaf Pine Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine and the Order of the Amaranth.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hay Street United Methodist Church by the Revs. Carl Frazier and Bruce Taylor. Entombment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mrs. Hubbard is survived by her husband, Lonnie P. Hubbard of Fayetteville; two sons, Doyle W. Hubbard and Samuel P. Hubbard, both of Fayetteville; three sisters, Catherine M. Neese of Black Mountain, Leota M. Dunlap of Gettysburg, Pa. and Hesta M. Miller of Lenexa, Kan.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Mrs. Patricia L. Curtin (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

SEVEN LAKES -- Mrs. Patricia L. Curtin, 66, of Seven Lakes died Monday in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Seven Lakes Chapel in the Pines by the Rev. Cecil Callis. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home and Crematory of Seven Lakes.

Mrs. Curtin is survived by her husband, Jerry Curtin; two sons, Jerry V. Curtin Jr. of Boston and Dennis M. Curtin of Fairfax, Va.; and a daughter, Barbara Milot of Lancaster, Mass.

CLINTON -- Noah Fryar, 69, of 703 Winfred St. died Monday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Cynthia C. Boyd (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

LINDEN -- Mrs. Cynthia Clark Boyd, 47, of 152 Dusty Lane died Monday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church of Linden by the Rev. Greg Barefoot. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mrs. Boyd is survived by her husband, D. Allen Boyd of the home; three sons, Christopher D. Perrera of Fayetteville, Daniel A. Boyd of Linden and Jeffrey McLaurin of Athens, Ga.; a daughter, Jennifer J. Perrera of Fayetteville; her parents, Retired Army Command Sgt. Maj. David L. Clark and Betty J. Clark of Fayetteville; three sisters, Janice C. Pollock of Charlotte, Betsy C. Attaway of Elizabeth City and Patricia C. Jones of Fayetteville; her grandmother, Frankie V. Williams of Phenix City, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

Miss Shirleen Davis (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

DUNN -- Miss Shirleen Davis, 50, of 106 Queensbury Court died Monday in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Oak Grove AME Zion Church in Erwin by the Revs. A. L. Ferguson and Gwen NcNeill. Final rites will be conducted Saturday in Heritage Church of Christ in Baltimore. Arrangements are being handled by Dafford Funeral Home.

Miss Davis is survived by a son, Gregory Garland of Baltimore; and two brothers, Bobby Davis and Larrie Davis, both of Dunn.

Mrs. Ruby S. Johnson (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

Mrs. Ruby Sherman Johnson, 80, of Fayetteville died Monday in Carrolton Nursing Home.

Mrs. Johnson was formerly co-owner of Johnson Motor Company.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son, Earl W. Johnson; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Johnson donated her body to research and requested no flowers be sent. Donations may be made to The Faithbuilders Christian Center Building Fund, 5368 Maxwell Road, Autryville, N.C. 28318.

Ms. Rita D. Williams (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

GOLDSBORO -- Ms. Rita Lynn Kearney Disney Williams, 41, of 157 Perry Farm Lane died Monday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church by the Revs. Gary Bailey and Glenn Mills. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park. Arrangements are being handled by Seymour Funeral Home.

Among Ms. Williams’s survivors is a daughter, Cara D. Kornegay of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Arnice J. Peacock (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

CLARKTON -- Mrs. Arnice J. Peacock, 86, of Clarkton died Sunday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Union Baptist Church in Lake Waccamaw by the Rev. Ronald Campbell. Burial will be in the Peacock family cemetery in Whiteville. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Mrs. Peacock is survived by a daughter, Carolyn P. King of Fayetteville; two sons, David H. Peacock of Las Vegas and Plummer “June” Peacock of Whiteville; four sisters, Mamie Jacobs of Clarkton, Mary Graham of Whitesboro, N.J., Louise Graham of Lake Waccamaw and Delphia Skerrett of Philadelphia; three brothers, Willie B. Jacobs and Anthony Jacobs, both of Lake Waccamaw, and Clyde Jacobs of Philadelphia.

Angelo Peacock (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

WHITEVILLE -- Angelo “Buddy Roe” Peacock, 49, of 206 West Virgil St. died Sunday in Columbus County Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Union Baptist Church in Lake Waccamaw by the Rev. Ronald Campbell. Burial will be in the Peacock family cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home.

Mr. Peacock is survived by his wife, Trudy Peacock of Philadelphia; a son, Angelo Peacock Jr. of Philadelphia; a daughter, Theresa Peacock of Philadelphia; a sister, Carolyn King of Fayetteville; two brothers, David H. Peacock of Las Vegas and Plummer “June” Peacock of Whiteville.

LELAND -- Spencer Roberson Jr., 59, of 118 Nevassa Road died Monday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

WARRENTON, Va. -- Mrs. Patricia Lynn Brander, 40, of Warrenton, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Tuesday in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. James Episcopal Church in Warrenton by the Rev. James Chipps. Arrangements are being handled by Moser Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brander is survived by her husband, Norman G. Brander of Warrenton; two daughters, Ann Louise Brander and Christina L. Brander, both of Warrenton; her mother, Barbara P. Rohrborn of Pompano Beach, Fla.; her father, Robert C. Rohrborn of Gilford, N.H.; and two brothers, Robert C. Rohrborn Jr. of Salisbury, N.H. and Richard C. Rohrborn of Laconia, N.H.

Miss Jennie L. Carter (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Miss Jennie Leon Carter, 92, of Granada Terrace died Tuesday in Kingsdale Manor.

Miss Carter was a member of First Baptist Church, where she worked with children in Sunday School. She was the principal at Tanglewood School.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Russell T. Cherry. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery.

Miss Carter is survived by two sisters, Fannie May Kirby of Lumberton and Cecile Cameron of Phoenix.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Berlin M. Ward (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

TABOR CITY -- Berlin M. Ward, 97, of Tabor City died Sunday in Loris Community Hospital in Loris, S.C.

Mr. Ward was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Whiteville United Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Columbus Memorial Park by the Rev. Berry Barbour.

Mr. Ward is survived by his wife, Lucy T. Ward; a son, Ronald Ward of Loris; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in Peacock’s Chapel in the Pines in Whiteville.
