Mrs. Annie N. Rising (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Annie Neal Rising, 89, of Lumberton died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Herbert E. Folger Jr. (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Herbert E. Folger Jr. of 507 Anson Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday.

Mr. Folger retired from M.J. Soffe.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake by Chaplain Michael Honor.

Mr. Folger is survived by his wife, Phyllis N. Folger; a son, David Folger of Tiverton, R.I.; three daughters, Michele Johns of Fayetteville, Jo Anne Folger of Burbank, Calif. and Kathleen Folger of Ann Arbor, Mich.; his mother, Alice Folger of Fall River, Mass.; a sister, Beverly Mederios of Fall River; and two grandsons.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Mrs. Annie Butler (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

CLINTON -- Mrs. Annie Butler, 93, of 1178 Isaac Road died Monday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home.

Steven R. Jacobs (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

RED SPRINGS -- Steven Ross Jacobs, 24, of 128 S. Hoke St. died Sunday.

The funeral will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday in South Hoke Baptist Church by the Revs. Tony Hunt and Billy Clark. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Jacobs is survived by his wife, Deloris A. Jacobs of the home; three daughters, Kayla Jacobs and Taylor Jacobs, both of the home, and Brooke A. Jacobs of Red Springs; his parents, the Rev. Willie R. Jacobs and Ivene Jacobs of Red Springs; two brothers, Clint Jacobs and Patrick Jacobs, both of Red Springs; his maternal grandparents, Henry and Elizabeth Goins of Red Springs; and his paternal grandparents, Harvey and Mazinnie Jacobs of Raeford.

The family will receive friends tonight beginning at 7 p.m. at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Pembroke.

Mrs. Lucille R. Luck (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

PINEHURST -- Mrs. Lucille Ritter Luck, 74, of Pinehurst died Tuesday in Manor Care Nursing Center.

Mrs. Luck was a retired textile worker.

The funeral will be conducted Thursday.

Mrs. Luck is survived by three sons, Bobby Luck of Aberdeen, Marvin Luck of Candor and Johnny Luck of Eagle Springs; a daughter, Edna Southard of Candor; a brother, Neil Ritter of Florence, S.C.; five sisters, Hazel King of Ellerbe, Gwen Lamonds and Cathryn Luck, both of Candor, and Shirley Hale and Ethel Ritter, both of Florence; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Boles Funeral Home & Crematory in Seven Lakes.

I.P. Sealey Jr. (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- I.P. Sealey Jr., 68, of Lumberton died Monday in his home.

Mr. Sealey was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a former accountant with V & CS Railroad and a former owner of I.P. Sealey School of Dance and Antiques Limited. He was also a member of Downtown Lumberton Association.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Biggs Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. John D. Cave. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery.

Mr. Sealey is survived by two brothers, Paul R. Sealey of Florence, S.C., and John F. Sealey of Lumberton; and five sisters, Jackie S. Musselwhite and Betty S. Stone, both of Lumberton, Lillian S. Johnson of Raleigh, Vidalia S. Hall of Fayetteville and Helen S. Hales of Bladenboro.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Mrs. J.A. Stone, 38 Dewey Drive, Long Branch Community.

Mrs. Sheila C. dePasquale (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

SOUTHERN PINES -- Mrs. Sheila Cremins dePasquale, 95, of Southern Pines died Tuesday in St. Joseph of the Pines Health Facilities.

Mrs. dePasquale helped operate Little River Farm.

A mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Burial will be in Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, N.Y.

Mrs. dePasquale is survived by three sons, Adrian dePasquale of Southern Pines, Eugene dePasquale of Montauk, N.Y., and James dePasquale of Oceanside, N.Y.; two daughters, Sheila McKibbin of Honolulu and Joan Brown of Warrington, Pa.; a brother, Robert Cremins of Pelham, N.Y.; 23 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Powell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Joyce M. McGrath (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

WHISPERING PINES -- Mrs. Joyce Mendenhall McGrath, 75, of Whispering Pines died Tuesday in her home.

A mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Southern Pines by Father James Butler. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Mrs. McGrath is survived by her husband, Retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. C. Thomas McGrath; four sons, Patrick McGrath of Daytona Beach, Fla., Maj. James McGrath of Jacksonville, Lt. Thomas McGrath of Maine and Joseph McGrath of Foxfire Village; a sister, Elizabeth Mendenhall of Edina, Minn.; two brothers, Dwight Mendenhall of Madison, Wis. and Donald Mendenhall of Minnetonka, Minn.; and a half-brother, Ray DeBerry of California.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home in Southern Pines.

Winfred F. McEachin (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Winfred Frankie McEachin, 28, of 2607 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Mr. McEachin was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Bethany Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Roger Randall. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by McMillan Funeral Home.

Mr. McEachin is survived by a daughter, Tandarae’ L. McEachin of Charlotte; his mother, Joan M. McEachin of the home; a sister, Janet M. Calvin of Lumberton; and two brothers, Maurice McEachin of the home and John T. McEachin of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Mrs. Hildeth C. Cummings (Dated Wednesday, June 24, 1998)

PEMBROKE -- Mrs. Hildeth Chavis “Miss Bloss” Cummings, 81, of 88 Foy Road died Monday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in St. Annah Freewill Baptist Church by the Revs. Tony Miller, Sherman Brooks and Anthony Oxendine. Burial will be in Lumbee Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Revels Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cummings is survived by six sons, Carlton Cummings of Charlotte, Jerry Cummings of Pembroke, the Rev. Michael Cummings of Lumberton, Henderson Cummings of Kansas City, Mo., Timothy Cummings of Las Vegas and Robert Cummings of Warner Robins, Ga.; five daughters, Carolyn Daniel of Pembroke, Amelia Taft of Las Vegas, Louise Maynor of Durham, Sally Locklear of Maxton and Eunice Chavis of the home; two sisters, Esther Chavis of Pemberton Place Nursing Home and Effie J. “Dib” Carter of Lumberton; 40 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 10 at St. Annah Freewill Baptist Church.

Ocie B. Hathaway (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

DURHAM -- Mrs. Ocie B. Hathaway, 100, of 2616 Irwin Road, formerly of Fayetteville, died Friday in Methodist Retirement Home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. John’s Chapel of the United Methodist Retirement Home.

Mrs. Hathaway is survived by a sister, Pandora Smith of Asheville.

Ms. Roberta A. O’Dea (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

Ms. Roberta A. O’Dea, 74, of Fayetteville died May 14 in Arlington, Va.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. June 20 in Main Post Chapel on Fort Bragg by Father John Kelly. Arrangements were made by Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, Va.

Ms. O’Dea is survived by a son, Thomas O’Dea of Charlotte; three daughters, Cynthia Timmers of Columbia, S.C., Therese Mattingly of Toledo, Ohio, and Sandra Johnson of Manassas, Va.; and eight grandchildren.

Bobby C. Gregory (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

MOUNT GILEAD -- Bobby Carlton Gregory, 58, of 552 Springwood Drive, Lake Tillery, formerly of Fayetteville, died Thursday in Northeast Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Hartsell Funeral Home chapel in Concord. Burial with military honors will be in Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

Mr. Gregory is survived by his wife, Brenda F. Gregory of the home; a son Thomas Gregory, of Wickenberg, Ariz.; three daughters, Bobbie A. Horton and Jennifer Wallace, both of Concord, and Robbin St. John, of Asheboro; a brother, Ronnie P. Gregory of Concord; and 10 grandchildren.

Mrs. Inez T. Carver (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

Mrs. Inez Leta Tatum Carver, 60, of Route 15, Box 304 C2, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Carver was a member of Cumberland Union Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. Jack Church and Charles Griffith. Burial will be in Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Carver is survived by her husband, Eugene L. Carver of the home; three daughters, Deborah Cain of Linwood, Marsha Parker of Fayetteville, and Ann Morris of Wilson; her step-father, Joseph Honeycutt of Fayetteville; two brothers, Ronald Tatum of St. Pauls and Marvin Tatum of Elizabethtown; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home.

Willard B. Stone (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

WILMINGTON -- Willard B. Stone, 63, of Wilmington, formerly of Coats, died Friday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Skinner Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Norman Evans. Burial will be in Coats City Cemetery.

Mr. Skinner is survived by three sons, Tony Stone of Wilmington, and Bobby Stone and Robby Stone, both of Raleigh; a daughter, Connie Artero of Wilmington; three sisters, Peggy Arnold of Raleigh, Violene Matthews of Coats and Voncio Larson of Missouri; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Virginia T. Lucas (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

ROBBINS -- Mrs. Virginia Thomas Lucas, 55, of 1267 Spies Road died Friday in Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Arrangements will be announced by Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins.

Howard W. Hudson (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

Howard Wayne Hudson, 49, of 131 E. Hudson St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Columbia Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. T.J. Fulk. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Hudson is survived by his father, Billy Hudson of Fayetteville; three sisters, Beulah Mae Litz, Marie Carter and Barbara Edwards, all of Fayetteville; and a brother, Earl Hudson of Wilmington.
