ELLLERBE -- Dennis Wayne Watkins, 26, of 106 Sandy Lane died Saturday in Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham.

Arrangements will be announced by McEachern Funeral Home of Rockingham.

Miss Frankie L. Culbreth (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Miss Frankie Lynn Culbreth, 12, of Schaeman Circle died Friday, in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Arrangements will be announced by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Mrs. Nadine B. Harrell (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Nadine Brisson Harrell, 79, of Raeford died Friday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mrs. Harrell was a member of Raeford First Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Raeford First Baptist Church by the Rev. Don Satterwhite. Burial will be in Raeford Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harrell is survived by a son, John R. Harrell of Raeford; a daughter, Linda H. Hatley of Waxhaw; a sister, Dorothy Haulsey of Parkton; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Memorials may be made to Raeford First Baptist Church, 333 N. Main St., Raeford, N.C. 28376.

Ms. Flossie L. McNair (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

LAURINBURG -- Ms. Flossie L. McNair, 82, of 810 McGirt’s Bridge Road died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Cool Spring United Methodist Church by the Rev. George McDougald, Jr. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home.

Ms. McNair is survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Beatrice Morrison (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

MARSTON -- Mrs. Beatrice Morrison, 71, of 27400 Marston Road died Saturday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Morris Funeral Home of Laurinburg.

Harvey L. Norris (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

GARLAND -- Mr. Harvey Lee Norris, 57, of 1135 N.C. 210 West died Friday in his home.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today in Sandhills Cemetery by the Rev. Richard Smith. Arrangements are being handled by Carter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jean J. Dove (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Jean Johnson Dove, 72, of Route 2 died Saturday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Green Springs Baptist Church in Parkton by the Revs. Raymond Wade and Larry Blount. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by two sons, Charles E. “Chuck” Dove of St. Pauls and Stephen J. Dove of Hope Mills; four daughters, Pamela McInerney of Spokane, Wash., Lynda Avriett of Fayetteville, Glynda Lawrence of Atlantic Beach and Cynthia Paschall of Durham; three sisters, Marguerite Masters of Linden, Patsy McCracken of Manaca, Pa., and Frances Deaton of Fayetteville; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Reeves Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Green Springs Baptist Church, 1095 E. Green Springs Road, Parkton, N.C. 28371.

William C. Page (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

DUNN -- Mr. William Clyde Page of 805 E. Canary St. died Friday.

Mr. Page worked for Lafayette Ford for 18 years. Mr. Page was owner and operator of Clyde’s Wrecker Service.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in the Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Sherrill Pope. Burial will be in the Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Page is survived by his wife, Jean S. Page of the home, a son Ricky Page of Dunn; a daughter, Patty J. Page of the home; two brothers, Mack Page and Ralph Page, both of Dunn; four sisters, Allee Tart of Dunn, Thirlee Core of Erwin, Ann Casey of Concord and Mary F. Lowery of Fayetteville; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home.

Crosby Locklear (Dated Sunday, June 14, 1998)

CHICAGO -- Crosby Locklear, 77, of North Kostner Avenue, formerly of Pembroke, N.C., died Thursday in Norwegian American Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Locklear & Son Funeral Home chapel in Pembroke by the Rev. Charles Oxendine. Burial will be in the Lumbee Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Locklear is survived by Betty Butler, with whom he lived; four brothers, Golda Locklear of Cleveland, Vernon Locklear of Lenior, Otha N. Locklear of Pembroke and William T. Locklear of Chicago; eight sisters, Marcella Bullard, Fannie Franks and Rhonda McDowell, all of Pembroke, Oma M. Meadows and Shirley Eubanks, both of Maysville, Dorcas England of Signal Mountain, Tenn., Mary C. Scharf of Cleveland and Rose M. Jacobs of Charlotte, N.C.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Thomas B. Freeman (Dated Saturday, June 13, 1998)

PATERSON, N.J. -- Thomas Bryant Freeman, 52, of Paterson, formerly of Clarkton, N.C., died June 6 in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Savannah Temple AME Zion Church by the Rev. Alfred Pridgen. Burial will be in McCall Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Cromartie & Cunningham Mortuary of Clarkton.

Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife, Peggy Freeman; two daughters, Cassandra Freeman and Quashana Freeman, both of Paterson; two sons, Reginald Freeman and Timothy Freeman, both of Paterson; a step-daughter, Rosalyn Powell of Paterson; three sisters, Leola M. Freeman of Paterson, and Grace Freeman and Elizabeth F. Ward, both of Clarkton; and two brothers, David Freeman and William Freeman, both of Paterson.

The family will receive friends at the home of Tommy and Elizabeth Ward, 115 Elkton Road, Clarkton.

Mrs. Thedus D. McDowell (Dated Saturday, June 13, 1998)

DUNN -- Mrs. Thedus Dudley McDowell, 83, of 901 E. Edgerton St. died Wednesday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Dunn Chapel Free Will Baptist Church by the Rev. Alexander Lockamy and elder John A. McKoy. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.

Mrs. McDowell is survived by a son, Earnest A. McDowell of the home; and a sister, Dorothy Dudley of Newark, N.J.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 7:30 at Dafford Funeral Home.

Willard B. Stone (Dated Saturday, June 13, 1998)

WILMINGTON -- Willard B. Stone, 63, of Wilmington died Friday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Skinner Funeral Home of Dunn.

Bernard Maynor (Dated Saturday, June 13, 1998)

NEW YORK -- Bernard Maynor, 48, of New York, formerly of Bolton, N.C., died Sunday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Green’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Bolton by the Rev. Henry Jones Jr. Burial will be in Old Restwell Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville, N.C.

Mr. Maynor is survived by his mother, Clara Maynor of Bolton; four sisters, Ella M. Jacobs and Pamela Maynor, both of Bolton, Faye Best of Whiteville and Debra Maynor of Glenarden, Md.; and two brothers, Winston Maynor Jr. of Bolton and Harry B. Maynor of Martinez, Ga.

Mrs. Mae B. Lewis (Dated Saturday, June 13, 1998)

WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Mae Bell Lewis, 60, of 200 Frank Baldwin Road died Wednesday in Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Wilmington.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Peoples Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Emanuel Evans. Burial will be in the Baldwin family cemetery.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by two daughters, Cecelia Patterson of the home and Annie M. Shipman of Whiteville; a son, Robert L. Lewis of Whiteville; and three brothers, Frank Baldwin, Theodore Baldwin and Woodie Baldwin, all of Whiteville.

Mrs. Jessie M. Buxton (Dated Saturday, June 13, 1998)

Mrs. Jessie Maude Buxton of 1716 Newark St., Fayetteville, died Thursday in her home.

Mrs. Buxton retired from the former Fayetteville city school system and Belk department store.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church on Moore Street by the Rev. Richard A. Gerald. Burial will be in Baptist Union Church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Paye Funeral Home.

Mrs. Buxton is survived by a son, James E. Buxton Jr. of Fayetteville; a sister, Willie Lane of Richmond, Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

McArthur Clarida (Dated Saturday, June 13, 1998)

CHADBOURN -- McArthur Clarida, 33, of 1992 Braswell Road died Thursday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Monday in Spring Hill Baptist Church in Whiteville by the Rev. Thomas Nelson. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Mr. Clarida is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sarah and George Walker of Whiteville; a sister, Sandra Clarida of Whiteville; and two brothers, Andrew Clarida and Morris Clarida, both of Whiteville.

Ms. Flora ‘Lillian’ McRae (Dated Saturday, June 13, 1998)

LUMBERTON -- Ms. Flora “Lillian’ McRae, 82, of 812 E. Third St. died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Ms. McRae was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Maxton.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Floyd Memorial Chapel by Jim McRae and the Rev. Henrietta Carmichael. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Church cemetery.

Ms. McRae is survived by a sister, Mayme McPhail of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends today at 3 p.m. at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Annie Irene Carter, 86, of Route 33, Box 466-B, Fayetteville, died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Stedman Church of God of Prophecy by the Revs. Billy Norris, James Harbor and Gary Strickland. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Carter is survived by a daughter, Frances Carter of Fayetteville; two sons, L. Mack Carter and James P. Carter, both of Fayetteville; a brother, Willie Burgess of St. Pauls; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Lillie H. Locklear (Dated Saturday, June 13, 1998)

RED SPRINGS -- Mrs. Lillie Henderson Locklear, 90, of 7450 N.C. 211 died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in Mount Elim Baptist Church by the Revs. Tony Brewington and David Hunt. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Locklear is survived by three daughters, Jessie R. Locklear and Quennie Locklear, both of Shannon, and Geneva Langley of Red Springs; three sons, the Rev. Larry Locklear of Red Springs, Bernice Locklear of Lumberton and Wade C. Locklear of High Point; a sister, Ether Henderson of Raeford; 13 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 61 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight beginning at 7 at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Pembroke and at other times at the home of Jessie R. Locklear in Shannon.
