DUBLIN -- Curtis Wade Brisson, 85, of 842 Bethel Road died Thursday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Jerry Beck. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Lewis & Bowen Funeral Home of Bladenboro.

Mr. Brisson is survived by three sons, Mickey Brisson, Pat Brisson and Joe Brisson, all of Dublin; a daughter, Cathy Jackson of Dublin; two sisters, Evelyn McCormick and Audrey Walters, both of Dublin; four brothers, Maurice Brisson and Shelton Brisson, both of Tar Heel, Truman Brisson of Charlotte and Virgil Brisson of Augusta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Bethel Baptist Church in Dublin.

Charlie E. Bodenhamer (Dated Friday, June 12, 1998)

SANFORD -- Charlie E. Bodenhamer, 82, of 4716 Lemon Springs Road died Thursday in Central Carolina Hospital.

Mr. Bodenhamer was a retired farmer. He also worked at Castlebury’s Warehouse.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Tramway Baptist Church. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.

Mr. Bodenhamer is survived by a daughter, Mae Rene B. Thomas of Sanford; three sons, Mack C. Bodenhamer of Sanford, Junior Bodenhamer of Apex and Charlie “Bud” Bodenhamer of Goldsboro; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Mae Rene Thomas, 3010 Hillandale Drive.

Mrs. Essie M. Crosley (Dated Friday, June 12, 1998)

Mrs. Essie M. Crosley, 74, of 410 Campbell Avenue, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary.

Mrs. Mary H. Williamson (Dated Friday, June 12, 1998)

GIBSON -- Mrs. Mary Hunsucker Williamson, 85, of Asheboro, formerly of Gibson, died Thursday in Brian Center Nursing Home in Asheboro.

Mrs. Hunsucker worked as registered nurse for 37 years. She was a member of Gibson United Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Pine Crest Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Mrs. Lillie Mae C. Day (Dated Thursday, June 11, 1998)

Mrs. Lillie Mae Carter Day, 83, of Fayetteville died Wednesday in Village Green Care Center.

Mrs. Day was a teller with Branch Banking & Trust Co. for 22 years. She was a member of Hay Street Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Cross Creek Cemetery by the Revs. Carl Frazier and Vernon Tyson. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers & Breece Funeral Home.

Mrs. Day is survived by a daughter, Sybil P. Day of Fayetteville; and a sister, Martha C. Badenhoop of Ponte Vedra, Fla.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mrs. Laverne A. Dumm (Dated Thursday, June 11, 1998)

Mrs. Laverne Adams Dumm, 68, of 541 Nottingham Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Cedar Falls Baptist Church by the Rev. Floyd Benfield. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers & Breece Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dumm is survived by three daughters, Barbara Swain and Yvonne DeShamp, both of Phoenix and Helen Bell of Fayetteville; two sons, Chuck Whitaker of Phoenix and Bill Whitaker of Fayetteville; a sister, Belle Jackson of Macon, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bonnie K. Hickman (Dated Thursday, June 11, 1998)

WILMINGTON -- Mrs. Bonnie Kinlaw Hickman, 84, of Cape Fear Hotel Apartments, formerly of Robeson county, died Monday in Cornelia Nixon Davis Nursing Home.

Mrs. Hickman was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was the owner and operator of a souvenir shop in Carolina Beach.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Biggs Funeral Home chapel in Lumberton. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery.

Mrs. Hickman is survived by two sons, Gene A. Hickman of Virginia Beach, Va., and James L. Hickman of Columbia, S.C.; a brother, Eugene Kinlaw of Beaufort, S.C.; a sister Myrtie Thompson of Lumberton; and a granddaughter.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Myrtie Thompson, 504 E. 10th St.

Clifton Knight (Dated Thursday, June 11, 1998)

HAMLET -- Clifton Knight, 75, of 108 Crestwood Lane died Tuesday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Nelson Funeral chapel. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Rockingham.

The family will receive friends at the home of Oscar Knight, 402 Buttercup.

Dorothy H. Hardin (Dated Thursday, June 11, 1998)

FAIRMONT -- Dorothy Hedgepeth Hardin, 69, of 16107 N.C. 130 E. died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mrs. Hardin was a member of Proctorville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Floyd Funeral Services chapel by the Rev. Timothy Sellers. Burial will be in the Byrd family cemetery, N.C. 130 E.

Mrs. Hardin is survived by a son, Ambrose Hardin of Fairmont; a daughter, Betty Hill of Fairmont; a brother, Howard Hedgepeth of Fairmont; a sister, Espa H. Walters of Fairmont; and a granddaughter.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

Dodell Bullock (Dated Thursday, June 11, 1998)

FAIR BLUFF -- Dodell Bullock, 51, of 150 E. Brooks St. died Sunday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Butler Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Truman C. Tart. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bullock is survived by a daughter, Quinessa Soles of Utah; his mother, Gennetter Bullock of Fair Bluff; three sisters, Sue M. Eady, Louvenia McMillian and Mildred Johnson, all of Fair Bluff; and five brothers, A.J. Bullock, Owen B. Bullock, Henry Bullock and Charles Bullock, all of Fair Bluff and Troy Bullock of Manalapan, N.J.

A wake will be held Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home chapel in Whiteville.

Mrs. Marshie Thompson (Dated Thursday, June 11, 1998)

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Mrs. Marshie Mitchell Thompson, 93, of Brooklyn, formerly of Lumberton, died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in New Light Baptist Church in Hallsboro. Burial will be in Mitchell Field Cemetery in Clarkton. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Mae Bell Lewis, 60, of 200 Frank Baldwin Road died Wednesday in Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center in Wilmington.

Mrs. Queen E. Fredricks (Dated Thursday, June 11, 1998)

Mrs. Queen Esther Fredricks, 62, of 288 Bartow Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in William Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Spring Lake by the Rev. John W. Peak. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park.

Mrs. Fredricks is survived by a daughter, Janice Williams of Roseboro; three sisters, Annie Bell of New York, Minnie B. Freeman and Luray Davis, both of Fayetteville; a brother, Edgar Owens of Liberty, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.

The public will be received tonight from 1 to 7 at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.

Mrs. Carleen B. Creech (Dated Thursday, June 11, 1998)

WHITEVILLE -- Mrs. Carleen Barefoot Creech, 75, of Edna Creech Road died Tuesday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

She was a member of Whiteville Free Will Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Peacock’s Chapel in the Pines by the Rev. Larry Priest. Burial will be in Flynn Cemetery.

Mrs. Creech is survived by her husband, T.S. Creech; two daughters, Edna G. Creech and Mantha C. Davis, both of Whiteville; three sons, David D. Beckom of Eston, Maine, William C. Beckom and Robert R. Beckom, both of Lexington; two brothers, Ernest Barefoot of Hallsboro and Charles M. Barefoot of Lexington; two sisters, Louise Singletary of Wilmington and Hazel L. Barefoot of Lake Waccamaw; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Lawrence U.L. Chandler, 82, of Fort Lauderdale died Sunday.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Greenleaf Memorial Park in New Bern, N.C. Arrangements are being handled by Pollock-Wells & Best Funeral Home of New Bern.

Among Mr. Chandler’s survivors is a daughter, Lynn B. Murphy of Rose Hill.

NEWTON GROVE -- Susie Crumpler Bostic, 81, of 480 Warren Mill Road died Monday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

Mrs. Frances J. Shannon (Dated Thursday, June 11, 1998)

SMITHFIELD -- Mrs. Frances J. “Baby” Shannon, 65, of Britthaven Nursing Home, formerly of Benson, died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. James Disciples of Christ Church in Benson by elder James Gathers. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Dunn. Arrangements are being handled by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.

Mrs. Shannon is survived by four sons, Scotty Gathers of Benson, Elder James Gathers of Four Oaks, Richard Gathers of LaPlace, La., and Eric Gathers of Fayetteville; four daughters, Selena Giles of LaGrange, Janice Body of Goldsboro, Stephanie Robinson of Benson and Alicia Gathers of Fort Washington, Md.; two sisters, Georgia Sanders of Queens, N.Y., and Alice Smith of Benson; a brother, Ray B. Bradshaw of South Carolina; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Earl Preston Sauls, 73, of 2904 Selma Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Sauls is survived by a son, Earl R. Sauls of Ridgefield Park, N.J.
