RED SPRINGS -- Lonnie Ellerbee, 84, of Red Springs died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Bright Hope Refuge Corner Stone Church of Deliverance by the Rev. Rosa Galbreath. Burial will be in McLeod Memorial Cemetery in Maxton.
Mr. Ellerbee is survived by four sisters, Carrie L. Coleman of Fairmont, Lucy McDaniel of Fayetteville, and Sarah McCallum and Sallie Ellerbee, both of Yonkers, N.Y.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Bakers Funeral Home in Maxton.
Dorval ‘Val’ Jones (Dated Wednesday, June 10, 1998)
LILLINGTON -- Dorval “Val” Jones, 64, of Lillington died Friday.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Patricia M. Jones of the home; a daughter, Elizabeth Jones of Winston-Salem; a son, David Jones of Raleigh; and two brothers, Charles Jones and Ronald Jones, both of Raleigh.
The family will receive friends Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

CLINTON -- Ms. Susan M. Bostic, 81, of 180 Southwood Drive died Monday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Roma D. Swindell (Dated Wednesday, June 10, 1998)
ROBBINS -- Mrs. Roma Dunlap Swindell, 74, of 180 N. Rockingham St. died Tuesday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Medical Center in Pinehurst.
Mrs. Swindell was a deacon at Elise Presbyterian Church. She was a coordinator of Christian ministries in Robbins and a homemaker.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Elise Presbyterian Church by the Revs. Dawes Graybeal, Jerry Vuncannon and James MacKenzie. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Swindell is survived by her husband, D. Arnold Swindell of the home; a son, William S. “Bill” Swindell of Greensboro; two daughters, Sandra S. Cargile of Greenville and Roma Lee S. Cheek of Asheboro; a sister, Edna D. Johnson of Biscoe; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Mrs. Anzonette N. Lees (Dated Wednesday, June 10, 1998)
PINEHURST -- Mrs. Anzonette Nicholas Lees, 84, of Pinehurst died Saturday in Manor Care nursing home.
Mrs. Lees was a member of the Garden Club, the Woman’s Exchange and the Moore County Hospital women’s auxiliary. She was also associated with the University Art Museum in Princeton, N.J.
Mrs. Lees is survived by her husband, John T. Lees; and three daughters, Antoinette L. Wheelock of Raleigh, Susan L. Pullen of Winston-Salem and Phoebe L. Stockwell of San Clemente, Calif.

DUBLIN -- Samuel Douglas Thompson, 54, of Dublin, died Saturday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Mr. Thompson is survived by a son, Samuel D. Thompson Jr. of Hackensack, N.J.; his mother, Maggie B. Thompson of Dublin; two brothers, Robert Thompson of Monroe, Mich., and Abraham Thompson of Hackensack; and two sisters, Mary Thompson and Mona Thompson, both of Hackensack.

WHITEVILLE -- Jasper Johnson, 78, of 340 McMillian Road died Sunday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Clarine Johnson; four daughters, Bessie Sowell of Brooklyn, N.Y., Shirley Hunter of Durham, Kathleen Roush of Mount Arrie, Md., and Jackolean Lashley of Plainfield, N.J.; two sons, Roscoe Johnson and Gary Johnson, both of Jersey City, N.J.; five sisters, Nettie McKenzie, Terether Ward and Bessie Fair, all of Whiteville, Aggielean Johnson of Philadelphia and Berthell Hare of Jersey City; and a brother, Willie Reaves of Whiteville.

LILLINGTON -- Mrs. Clara Mae Alfonso, 75, of 5092 McDougald Road died Monday in Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.
Mrs. Alfonso was a retired cafeteria worker in the Manatee County Florida school system.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Griffith-Cline Funeral Home Mansion Memorial chapel in Ellenton, Fla. Announcement made by Adcock Funeral Home.
Mrs. Alfonso is survived by three daughters, Barbara J. Docteur of Knoxville, Tenn., Helen Golden of Lillington and Elizabeth Piatt of Spring Lake; a son, Eugene V. Alfonso Jr. of Myakka, Fla.; two brothers, Terrell Nichols and Arthur Nichols, both of Safford, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Miss Naomi R. Smith (Dated Wednesday, June 10, 1998)
BENSON -- Miss Naomi R. Smith, 77, of Benson died Tuesday in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.
Miss Smith was a charter member of Johnston County Historical Society and a member of Benson Baptist Church. She was also a piano and voice teacher.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Lynn Buzzard. Burial will be in Benson City Cemetery.
Miss Smith is survived by a sister, Sue S. Applewhite of Jacksonville; and a brother, Owen F. Smith of Raleigh.

AUTRYVILLE -- Lattie Ervin Autry, 69, of Route 2 died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mr. Autry retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation. He was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Pleasant Union Baptist Church by the Revs. Roger Jackson and Charles Griffith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Autry is survived by seven sisters, Ellise Bunce, Willadean Guy and Faye Tew, all of Stedman, Avis Autry, Juanita Davis and Peggie Autry, all of Autryville, and Marjorie Carwile of Greenville; and a brother, Sydney Autry of Pfafftown.

Mrs. Pollock is survived by her husband, William A. Pollock of the home; two daughters, Sandra P. Henderson of Raleigh and Susan P. Owen of Roseboro; a son, Steven W. Pollock of Stedman; a brother, Donald “Sonny” Gainey of Stedman; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
