James E. Tyndall (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

HOPE MILLS -- James E. “Jack Jim” Tyndall, 58, of 6204 Rustic Ridge died Sunday in his home.

Mr. Tyndall was a Marine. He worked for Kelly Springfield Tire Co. for 25 years and was a member of FILI and the Civitan Club. Mr. Tyndall was a Sunday school teacher and a youth director at Vander Church of God.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Mike Owens. Burial with military honors will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Tyndall is survived by his wife, Linda M. Tyndall of the home; a son, Ken Tyndall of Conway, S.C.; a daughter, Priscilla Tyndall of the home; three brothers, Richard-Edgar Tyndall of Parkton, David Tyndall of Fayetteville and Wilbur Tyndall of Hickory; a sister, Shirley T. House of Hickory; a step sister, Peggy Tyndall of Fayetteville; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cumberland County, P.O. Box 53324, Fayetteville, N.C. 28305.

Clarence T. Smith Jr. (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

RALEIGH -- Clarence T. Smith Jr., 29, of Raleigh, formerly of Elizabethtown, died Friday in Wake Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Olive AME Zion Church in Mount Olive by the Rev. David Foy. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Johnson Funeral Service of Elizabethtown.

Mr. Smith is survived by his mother, Edith Wright of Queens, N.Y.; two sisters, Lessie Smith of Raleigh and Jennifer Wright of Manhattan; and two brothers, Randy Wright of Raleigh and Benjamin Wright of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends at the home of his aunt, Mary Cade, 708 Richardson St., Elizabethtown.

Mrs. Laurene W. Perkins (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

Mrs. Laurene Williams Perkins, 69, of 600 Campbell Terrace, Fayetteville, died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m Wednesday in Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. John D. Fuller. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 4.

Mrs. Perkins is survived by a son, Michael T. Williams of Fayetteville; six daughters, Jacqueline S. Williams, Evonne Thomas, Patricia Crawford, Saundra Knolton and Denise Parker, all of Fayetteville, and Debra Young of Hopkins, S.C.; a sister, Beatrice Williams of Bronx, N.Y.; a brother, Charles D. Williams of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

Mrs. Mae Washington (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

Mrs. Mae Washington, 65, of 1073 Danbury Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary.

Hardy E. Batchelor Sr. (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

Hardy E. Batchelor Sr., 82, of 3230 Shamrock Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Mr. Batchelor retired from the Army as a chief warrant officer 4 after 36 years of service. He was retired from the Special Forces and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Mr. Batchelor is survived by his wife, Margie B. Batchelor of the home; a son, Hardy Batchelor of Seattle, Thomas Batchelor of Fayetteville and David Batchelor of Columbus, Ga.; two daughters, Barbara Batchelor and Dianna Batchelor, both of Washington, D.C.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Alexander McLean Sr. (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

Alexander McLean Sr., 73, of 929 Sunburg Drive, Fayetteville, died Friday in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the H.M. Colvin Funeral Home chapel by elder Gene Briggs. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park.

Mr. McLean is survived by two sons, Alexander McLean Jr. and James McLean, both of Fayetteville; a daughter, Mary M. Mack of Fayetteville; a brother, Grady McLean of Rock Hill, S.C.; four sisters, Evelyn McLean of Lynchburg, Va., Carrie Womack of Fayetteville, and Naomi McCullum and Mary Leak, both of Red Springs; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

The public will be received today from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gregory L. Thompson (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

Gregory Lee Thompson, 15, of 6413 Rutherglen Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday.

Gregory was a sophomore at Seventy-First High School.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Main Post Chapel on Fort Bragg by Father William Czech. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park on Raeford Road.

Gregory is survived by his mother, Marlene Thompson of the home; his father and stepmother, Gerald and Roberta Thompson of Kinston; a brother, Jeremiah Thompson of Utah; his maternal grandmother, Winneford Hickey of Florida; his maternal grandfather, James Hickey of New Hampshire; and his paternal grandfather, Gerald Thompson of Massachusetts.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at LaFayette Funeral Home.

James P. Carroll (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

CLINTON -- James P. Carroll, 34, of 190 Grapevine Lane died Monday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home.

Dennis H. Dail (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

WADE -- Dennis Howell Dail, 56, of Route 1, Box 215-E, died Sunday.

Mr. Dail was a meat market manager for Kroger in Fayetteville for eight years.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the McMillan Presbyterian Church cemetery by the Revs. David Hutch, Elwood Matthews and Ray Lammers.

Mr. Dail is survived by his wife, Barbara B. Dail of Wade; a son, Richard L. Dail of Charlotte; a daughter, Dena M. Dail of Fayetteville; his mother, Bonnie M. Dail of Wade; two brothers, Royce Dail and Gary Dail Sr., both of Wade; and a grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cancer Center Medical Oncology, Cape Fear Valley Health System; or to Bethany Church of God of Prophecy, Maxwell Road, Fayetteville, N.C.

George W. Sinclair (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

SHANNON -- George Wilson Sinclair, 55, of Shannon died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Bridges Grove AME Zion Church by the Rev. Rufus Peguese. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Sinclair is survived by a brother, William R. Sinclair of the home; and a sister, Nellie B. Smith of Raeford.

The family will receive friends today from 1 to 7 p.m. at L.E. Floyd Funeral Home in Red Springs.

Mrs. Mamie N. Seaberry (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

DUNN -- Mrs. Mamie N. Seaberry of 120 Mars St. died Monday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Dafford Funeral Home.

Sherman F. Nunnery Jr. (Dated Tuesday, June 9, 1998)

HOPE MILLS -- Sherman Floyd Nunnery Jr., 30, of 3814 Legion Road died Saturday.

Mr. Nunnery was a plumber.

A graveside service will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Hardee family cemetery on Hardeewood Drive.

Mr. Nunnery is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lynda F. Nunnery and Panuel Locklear of the home; and a sister, Lynda “Beth” Larson of Kansas.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Revival Christian Center, 3519-C Cumberland Road, Fayetteville, and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made care of First Citizens Bank, 3626 N. Main St., Hope Mills, N.C.
