LUMBERTON -- Herman Setzer Minges, 82, of North Elm Street died Thursday in his home.
Mr. Minges was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. He retired from Pepsi Co. He was a Navy veteran.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jacob Young. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Biggs Funeral Home.
Mr. Minges is survived by his wife, Alyce H. Minges of the home; two daughters, Jeni M. Kay of Raleigh and Paula M. Vest of Caswell Beach; three brothers, R.B. Minges of Fayetteville, John T. Minges of Rocky Mount and Edwin Minges of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two sisters, Helen Field of Wilson and Emily Mitchell of Williamsburg, Va.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the home.

Mrs. Polly F. Campbell

ROWLAND -- Mrs. Polly Freeman Campbell, 60, of 22 Walnut Road died Wednesday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Faith of Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Gardens of Faith Cemetery.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband, Jim E. Campbell of the home; four sons, Nicholas J. Campbell and Steve Campbell, both of Rowland, Glenn A. Campbell of Fairmont and Lee E. Campbell of Virginia; three daughters, Patricia Gibson of Gibsonville, Linda McNeill of Lumberton and Janice Hunt of High Point; a brother, Danny Freeman of Decatur, Ga.; five sisters, Lee B. Revels of Avon Park, Fla., Lula Freeman of Georgia, Clemmie Locklear of Maxton, Sallie Brooks of Pembroke and Mollie Hunt of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory and at other times at the home of Linda McNeill, 43 Raspberry Lane, Lumberton.

HARRELLS -- Tom Murphy, 87, of 57 Isaac Murphy Road died Saturday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Carter Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Johnny B. Murphy. Burial will be in Fennell Memorial Park.
Mr. Murphy is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Holder and Ruth Merritt, both of Harrells; four sons, Neil Murphy of Roseboro, Alex Murphy of Garland and Bobby Murphy and John T. Murphy, both of Harrells; a sister, Harriet J. Murphy of Harrells; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

RAEFORD -- Frank Brooks Hodges Sr., 86, of 171 Frank Hodges Lane died Tuesday in Britthaven of Hamlet.
Mr. Hodges was a member of Avery’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Avery’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church by elder Stanley A. Williams Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Simon Funeral Home of Southern Pines.
Mr. Hodges is survived by two sons, Frank Hodges Jr. and Jerry Hodges, both of Raeford; a daughter, Taryn H. McCoy of Raeford; a sister, Estelle McPaul of Annapolis, Md.; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Alpha U. Sears

COATS -- Mrs. Alpha Stephenson Upchurch Sears, 92, of Coats died Saturday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.
Mrs. Sears was a member of Coats Baptist Church. She helped operate Upchurch Florist. Mrs. Sears was a homemaker.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Coats Baptist Church by the Revs. Jesse Mooney and Ronnie Byrd. Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier.
Mrs. Sears is survived by three daughters, Catherine Peede of Coats, Thurlean Stancil of Angier and Peggy Morgan of Collinsville, Ala.; a stepdaughter, Helen Norris of Coats; two sisters, Rador Pleau of Fayetteville and Callie Strickland of Dunn; 15 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Catherine and Flemming Peede, 305 W. Stewart St., Coats.
Alonza Dowless Jr.

Mr. Dowless was a member of West Lumberton Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran.

Mr. Dowless is survived by his wife, Ann Dowless of the home; a son, R. Keith Dowless of the home; and three sisters, Martha Finley of Ernul, Fleta Barnes of Garland and Geraldine Correll of Goldsboro.

Mr. Adams was an Army veteran.

Mrs. Deaton was a sales clerk for Z. Anthony Store before retiring. She was also a sales clerk at Rastoms’ Store.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium chapel by the Rev. David Richardson. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.
Mrs. Deaton is survived by three sons, Joe Deaton of Ocean Isle Beach and Richard Deaton and Ronnie Deaton, both of Laurinburg; a daughter, Barbara Catts of Higginsville, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Eaglin is survived by her husband, Cosmas D. Eaglin Sr. of the home; two sons, Cosmas D. Eaglin Jr. of Flint, Mich., and Paul Eaglin of Fairbanks, Alaska; three daughters, Frances Garza of Enterprise, Ala., Kathann El-Amin of San Antonio and Cheryl Maiden of Honolulu; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Tucker and Sons Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
