FAIRMONT -- Ms. Bertha Mae Floyd, 82, of Route 2 died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Mount Zion Freewill Baptist Church by Bishop Bobby Verene. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Ms. Floyd is survived by four daughters, Mary McRae, Patsy Sheridan and Sandra Turner, all of Fairmont, and Josephine Barnes of Lumberton; three sons, Fred Floyd of Lumberton and Norman Floyd and Randolph Floyd, both of Fairmont; 30 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home.
Carroll B. Durant

Among Mr. Parker’s survivors are his mother, Betty S. Parker of Laurinburg, N.C.; two brothers, Donnie Parker and Charles Parker, both of Gibson, N.C.; and a sister, Beverly P. Dotson of Laurel Hill, N.C.

COATS -- Larry Edward Ammons, 37, of 255 Pierce Lane died Thursday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Mr. Ammons was a carpenter.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Jesse Mooney.
Mr. Ammons is survived by his parents, E. Vernon and Loral G. Ammons; two sisters, Cathy Weaver of Benson and Carolyn Kopen of Dunn; and his maternal grandparents, Leewood and Versel Goodwin of Benson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service.

Mrs. Ruby S. Howell

ROSEBORO -- Mrs. Ruby Joy Stallings Howell, 82, of 105 Wrench St. died Wednesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.
Mrs. Howell was a registered nurse. She was a first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. She worked at Sampson Regional Medical Center before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Roseboro First Baptist Church by the Rev. Greg Templin. Burial will be in Roseboro Cemetery.
Mrs. Howell is survived by three sons, David M. Howell, Charles W. Howell and Donald H. Howell, all of Raleigh; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Home.

Robert H. Mitchell

BUIES CREEK -- Robert H. Mitchell, 74, of Buies Creek died Wednesday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.
Mr. Mitchell was a Navy veteran of World War II.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Coats United Methodist Church by the Rev. Chuck Herrin. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Methodist Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Mary Mitchell of Buies Creek; a son, Ralph Mitchell of Willow Springs; a daughter, Marion Lilly of Buies Creek; and three sisters, Graham Horba of Norfolk, Va., Hazel Weaver of Buies Creek and Sarah Arrington of Coats; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Chandos L. ‘Chan’ Smith
FAIRMONT -- Chandos Lewis ‘‘Chan’’ Smith, 71, of 12073 N.C. 130 died Wednesday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
Mr. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a tobacconist, Mason, and Shriner. He was a Navy veteran.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Fairmont Cemetery by the Rev. Mark Gaskins and Dr. Thomas L. Rich. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Funeral Services.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Barbara M. Smith of the home; four daughters, Amy Smith and Jo Ann Lewis, both of Fairmont, Brenda S. Poole of Coats and Chandra Page of Lumberton; two sisters, Clara Williams of Matthews and Katherine Bassett of Fairmont; and eight grandchildren.

Mr. Monds is survived by two daughters, Linda McKoy of Hyattsville, Md., and Patricia Midgette of New York; a son, Willie Monds of Bunnlevel; two brothers, John R. Munn and Elder Munn, both of Trenton, N.J.; three sisters, Florida M. Covington of Wilson, Elaine Frazier of Sanford and Romelia McLean of Ohio; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Hersey Clayton Whitted, 49, of Route 2, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in First New Light Baptist Church in White Oak by the Revs. Calvin Brewington and Clyde McLaughlin. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Whitted is survived by his wife, Angeline Whitted of the home; four daughters, Anjenette Wallace of Cleveland, Melinda Whitted of Greensboro and LaKesha Wallace and Asia Whitted, both of Fayetteville; a son, Hersey T. Whitted of Fayetteville; five brothers, Jasper Whitted, James Whitted, Richard Whitted, Jimmie Whitted and Ronald Whitted, all of Fayetteville; a sister, Lillie Culbreth of Fayetteville; and seven grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

LAURINBURG -- Lealon Robert Franklin Sr., 74, of 408 R. Gramham St. died Thursday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mr. Franklin was a truck driver before retiring. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Boles Funeral Home & Crematory chapel by the Revs. Lewis McLean and Stephen Owenby. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.
Mr. Franklin is survived by two sons, Lealon Franklin Jr. of Laurinburg and Fredrick D. Franklin of Jacksonville, Fla.; four daughters, Kay Rederick-English of Fayetteville and Jacquelyn F. Jones, Wanda F. Land and Darlene S. Holland, all of Laurinburg; three brothers, Liston Franklin of Rockingham, Lentz Franklin of Durham and Lewis Franklin of Graham; two sisters, Lois F. Nichols of Aberdeen and Lurline F. Holloway of Sussex, Va.; and three grandchildren.
