ELIZABETHTOWN -- Victor Columbus Stephens, 63, of Elizabethtown died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mr. Stephens worked for Wal-Mart.

The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Kinlaw Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Jimmie Tatum. Burial will be in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Stephens is survived by a sister, Dallas Walker of Elizabethtown; and three brothers, Raleigh Stephens of Elizabethtown, Isaac Stephens of Council and Casper Stephens of Lake Waccamaw.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kinlaw Funeral Home.

David E. Moore Jr. (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

ASHEBORO -- David Edward Moore Jr., 38, of 1490 Brownstones Hill Drive, formerly of Harnett County, died Saturday.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Assembly by Pastor Glenn Sauls. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Pugh Funeral Home.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Moore of Asheboro; a son, Michael D. Moore of the home; two stepdaughters, Paula Hamblin and Rebecca Cribbs, both of Asheboro; his mother, Doris Moore of Wade; two sisters, Evelyn Moore of Fayetteville and Elaine Moore of Concord; and a step-grandson.

Ramson McBride (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

PHILADELPHIA -- Ramson McBride, 74, of Philadelphia, formerly of Dunn, N.C., died Tuesday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Dafford Funeral Home chapel in Dunn by the Rev. Dennis Manuel. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Dunn.

Mr. McBride is survived by his wife, Jean McBride of the home; two sons, Ramson McBride and Larry McBride, both of Philadelphia; five daughters, Marie McCoy and Gaylen Harris, both of Dunn, Elaine Whitney of Smyrna, Del., Carolyn McBride-Watkins and Barbara Knox, both of Philadelphia; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Miss Evelyn Givens (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Miss Evelyn Givens, 59, of Brooklyn, formerly of Dothan, N.C., died recently.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Bristol Creek Baptist Church in Dothan by the Rev. Joe H. Keel. Burial will be in the Bristol Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Westside Funeral Home of Tabor City, N.C.

Miss Givens is survived by two sons, Stevie Givens of Brooklyn and Reginald L. Givens of Arizona; two sisters, Martha Floyd and Ruby Givens, both of Dothan; and two brothers, Elroy Givens and Robert Givens, both of Dothan.

Ms. Wilhelmina F. McKoy (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- Ms. Wilhelmina Ford ‘‘Sissy’’ McKoy, 75, of 161 Warren St., formerly of Marietta, N.C., died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, N.C.

A wake will be held tonight from 7 to 9 at Turner Station AME Church in Marietta. Burial will be in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Arrangements are being handled by Community Funeral Home.

Ms. McKoy is survived by a daughter, Clara Lomax of Bronx, N.Y.; a son, Robert McKoy of Brooklyn, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Robert E. Memory (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

WHITEVILLE -- Robert Eli ‘‘Bobby’’ Memory, 70, of 206 E. Wyche St. died Monday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by McKenzie Mortuary.

Mrs. Martha I. Furmage (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Martha Ann Irby Furmage, 54, of 610 Bethel Road died Sunday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Mrs. Furmage was a member of Raeford Presbyterian Church. She taught for the Cumberland County schools.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Raeford Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Leighton McKeithan and Dr. John C. Ropp. Burial will be in Raeford Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Furmage is survived by two sons, John T. Furmage Jr. and Tim Furmage, both of Raeford; and her mother, Dorothy I. Williams of Raeford.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the home.

Steve M. Rollins (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

SANFORD -- Steve Michael Rollins, 42, of 1612 Prosperity Drive died Saturday in Triangle Hospice in Hillsborough.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Mount Zion Baptist Church in Broadway by elder Jerry Murray. Burial will be in Cameron Grove Church cemetery in Broadway. Arrangements are being handled by Watson Mortuary.

Mr. Rollins is survived by a son, Steven McLean of Sanford; three daughters, Saddie N. Rollins of Newport News, Va., Lashonda Rollins and Tenisha Rollins, both of San Antonio; his mother, Eula Rollins of Sanford; four brothers, Valintino Rollins and Barry Rollins, both of Sanford, Shelby Rollins of Charles City, Va., and Jack Rollins of Orlando, Fla.; four sisters, Janet Bassette and Ronnie McLean, both of Sacramento, Calif., Clara Murchison of Fayetteville and Grace Sanders of Sanford; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Leona L. Stevenson (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

TABOR CITY -- Mrs. Leona Long Stevenson of Tabor City died recently.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in New Light AME Church in Dothan. Burial will be in Flag Patch Cemetery in Loris, S.C. Arrangements are being handled by Westside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stevenson is survived by her husband, the Rev. Herman Stevenson; a daughter, Retha P. Sturdivant of Dothan; a son, Jessie L. Pierce of Dothan; six stepdaughters, Zilla Farmer and Priscilla Greene, both of Charlotte, Ida Stevenson of New Jersey, Shirley Stevenson of Whiteville, and Bulah Parker and Eula Johnson, both of Tabor City; seven stepsons, Albert Stevenson, Michael Stevenson and Nathaniel Stevenson, all of Charlotte, Aaron Stevenson of Chapel Hill, the Rev. William Stevenson of Texas, and the Rev. Paul Stevenson and John H. Stevenson, both of Tabor City; a foster sister, Lillian Conyers; and a grandson.

Oscar L. Montgomery (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

Oscar Lee “Boots’’ Montgomery, 74, of 882 E. Mountain Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Montgomery was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Campground United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Campground United Methodist Church by the Rev. Danny Allen. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Montgomery is survived by his wife, Elsie H. Montgomery of the home; four daughters, Brenda M. Nichols of Sanford and Vivian Autry, Judith A. Wood and Sonia Kean, all of Fayetteville; three sons, Oscar L. ‘‘Buster’’ Montgomery Jr. of Fayetteville and Phillip Autry and David Autry, both of Willow Springs; two brothers, George Montgomery and James Montgomery, both of Fayetteville; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Mrs. Anne S. Hall (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

RED SPRINGS -- Mrs. Anne S. Hall, 95, of 501 E. Second St. died Sunday in Wesley Pines Retirement & Nursing Center.

A private memorial service will be held.

Mrs. Hall is survived by a son, David Hall Jr. of Red Springs; and a sister, Dorothy S. Blue of Laurinburg.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Crumpler Funeral Home.

James B. Tilley (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

James B. Tilley, 65, of Fayetteville died Sunday in his home.

Mr. Tilley retired as a command sergeant major in the Army after 26 years. He was a teacher for Dunn and Triton high schools for 20 years before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Sam Weeks. Burial with military honors will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mr. Tilley is survived by his wife, Frances Tilley of the home; a son, James ‘‘Jay’’ Tilley Jr. of Clinton; a daughter, Susan T. Comer of Fayetteville; two brothers, Ronald Tilley of Durham and Carl Tilley of Crossville, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ernest W. Kington (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

Ernest Warren Kington, 70, of 5690 Duchess Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Kington retired from the Army after 22 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He worked for Hendrew Acoustical for 19 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Cumberland Baptist Church by the Rev. Bill Allen. Burial with military honors will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mr. Kington is survived by his wife, Carole F. Kington of the home; a son, William E. Kington of Pensacola, Fla.; a daughter, Ann Pena of Pensacola; a sister, Ruth K. Berrier of Owings Mills, Md.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Mrs. Esther B. Singletary (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

BLADENBORO -- Mrs. Esther Mae Byrd Singletary, 70, of 216 Webb Faulk Road died Saturday in Cape Fear Memorial Hospital in Wilmington.

Mrs. Singletary owned and operated a beauty shop for several years.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Richardson First Baptist Church by Dr. Dewit Kennedy. Burial will be in Butters Cemetery in Butters. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory of Lumberton.

Mrs. Singletary is survived by her husband, Robert Singletary of the home; a son, James R. Singletary of Bladenboro; a stepson, Michael Nance of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Joann B. Singletary of Four Oaks; five brothers, Bill Byrd, Raeford Byrd, Hilton Byrd, Bobby Byrd and Roy Byrd, all of Four Oaks; three sisters, Frances Whittenton, Betty Capps and Janice Thorne, all of Four Oaks; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Lizzie M. Burgess (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

Mrs. Lizzie Elizabeth McNeill Burgess, 86, of 414 Bryan St., Fayetteville, died Sunday in Highland Nursing Home.

The family will receive friends at the home of Ruby Myers, 207 Johnson St., Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary.

David L. Munn (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

David Lee Munn, 63, of 2254 Alray Road, Fayetteville, died Friday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Good Hope Baptist Church by Dr. Samuel McDonald Jr. Burial will be in First New Light Church cemetery in White Oak.

Mr. Munn is survived by his wife, Annie B. Munn of the home; a son, David E. Baldwin-Munn of Fayetteville; two sisters, Marie Robinson and Mary Williams, both of Fayetteville; and two grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

The family will receive friends at the home.

John L. Courtney (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)

CAMERON -- John L. Courtney, 66, of Cameron died June 28.

Mr. Courtney was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today in Cameron Hill Presbyterian Church in Johnsonville.

Arrangements are being handled by Short Funeral Home of Laurel, Del.

Mr. Courtney is survived by his wife, Beatrice Courtney of Cameron; a son, Scott J. Courtney of Cameron; two brothers, Robert F. ‘‘Smokey’’ Courtney of Belvedere, Ill., and James C. ‘‘Cliff’’ Courtney of Warrens, Wis.; a grandchild; and two step-grandchildren.
