Barry L. Hare (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)
Retired Army Staff Sgt. Barry Lee Hare, 62, of 636 Clayton Drive, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Mr. Hare was a veteran of the Vietnam War. During his career, he received two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars. He was a member of Hollandale Advent Christian Church and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 46.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hollandale Advent Christian Church in Spring Lake by the Revs. Barry Jones, Allen Edens Jr. and Ronnie Robertson. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Spring Lake.
Mr. Hare is survived by his wife, Wilma G. Hare of Fayetteville; two daughters, Jane H. Fallin and Wendy H. Duncan, both of Spring Lake; two sisters, Mary C. Botdrof and Betty Reigle, both of Selinsgrove, Pa.; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Lake.
James W. Thompson (Dated Tuesday, July 6, 1999)
SOUTHERN PINES -- James White Thompson, 70, of Southern Pines died Sunday in Duke University Medical Center in Durham.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Page Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Benson. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Jean L. Thompson of the home; two sons, James W. Thompson Jr. of Carthage and Jeffrey T. Thompson of Aberdeen; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home & Crematory.

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Ann Watson Bostick, 64, of 118 Sanders St. died Sunday in her home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Gary Leviner. Burial will be in Bluemont Cemetery in Grafton, W.Va.
Mrs. Bostick is survived by a son, Thomas Bostick of the home; two daughters, Vanessa Bostick of the home and Virginia Williams of Parkton; a stepdaughter, Joan Hicks of Jacksonville, Fla.; her mother, Alice Watson of Wisconsin; a brother, John Watson of New Market, Va.; two sisters, Nancy Williams of Plymouth, Wis., and Melinda Randolph of Memphis, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

Walter McGee, 34, of 1215 Camden Road, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul Full Gospel Baptist Church by Dr. Robert L. Bronson. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Church cemetery in Laurel Hill.
Mr. McGee is survived by two sons, Darius McGee and Walter McKoy, both of Fayetteville; three sisters, Yvonnie Leonard of Philadelphia, Katie McPherson of Fayetteville and Nezzie McCormick of Spring Lake; and four brothers, Thomas McGee Jr. of Philadelphia and Allen McGee, Robert McGee and Joe McGee, all of Fayetteville.

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class John Wesley Boyd, 57, of 1038 Anglian St., Fayetteville, died Friday in his home.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Jean Boyd of Jacksonville; two sons, John W. Boyd Jr. of Lexington and Jimmy Boyd of Jacksonville; three daughters, Jeanette Smith of Wilson, Patricia D. Best of Jacksonville and Amanda Boyd of Charlotte; his mother, Minnie Sturdivant of Birmingham, Ala.; two brothers, Len W. Sturdivant and Willie J. Sturdivant, both of Easton, Md.; two sisters, Jessie R. Nichols and Barbara Hughes, both of Easton; and five grandchildren.

Malik Reshad McCallum, infant son of Rose Stackhouse and Mark McCallum, of 798 Conestoga Drive, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mount Pisgah Baptist Church cemetery in Raeford by Dr. Matthew Rouse Jr.
In addition to his parents, Malik is survived by a sister, Ebony McCallum of Fayetteville; four brothers, Desmond Stackhouse, Mark McCallum Jr., Steven McCallum and Patrick McCallum, all of Fayetteville; his maternal grandparents, Lucy and Willard Stackhouse of Fayetteville; his paternal grandmother, Mary McCallum of Fayetteville; and his paternal grandfather, Dannie McCallum Jr. of Godwin.

BURLINGTON -- Edgar Carl ‘‘Ed’’ Willis Sr., 74, of 1724 Wood Ave., formerly of Cumberland County, died Monday in Veterans Affairs Hospital in Durham.

Mr. Willis is survived by his wife, Jean B. Willis of the home; a daughter, Carla Whitt of Burlington; and a son, Edgar C. ‘‘Ed’’ Willis Jr. of the home.

Mr. Upton was a member of First Methodist Church of Clinton.

Miss Lucy O. Peterson

LUMBERTON -- Miss Lucy Olivia Peterson, 93, of Lumberton died Sunday in Wesley Pines Retirement Center.
Miss Peterson was a schoolteacher before retiring.

Miss Peterson is survived by several nieces and nephews.

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Hazel Bergstrom Opperud, 90, of 228 Range Road died Monday in Sun Rise Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Opperud was a retired elementary school teacher.
The funeral will be conducted in First United Lutheran Church in Hammond, Ind., by Dr. Bassam Abdallah. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery in Chicago.

Wright of Dunn; two brothers, John C. Blue and Ottis D. Blue, both of Dunn; a sister, Lula M. Moore of Philadelphia; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
