Steven W. ‘Rudy’ Robbins
Retired Army Master Sgt. Steven W. ‘‘Rudy’’ Robbins, 45, of 6422 Greengate Hill Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Robbins was in the Special Forces for 20 years. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal-2 OLC, Master Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge and Special Forces Tab.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in JFK Memorial Chapel on Fort Bragg.

Mr. Robbins is survived by his wife, Ann M. Robbins; a daughter, Jennifer A. Robbins of the home; his father, William Robbins of Montclair, Calif.; and two sisters, Pamela Frazier of Upland, Calif., and April Hughes of Boise, Idaho.

The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Harry L. Poindexter

Harry Lee Poindexter, 22, of 342 McPherson Church Road, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Cunningham & Sons Mortuary.

Mrs. Bertha Nichols

HALLSBORO -- Mrs. Bertha Nichols, 82, of 201 Pierce Road died Tuesday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Mount Hebron AME Zion Church by the Rev. William Ballard. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Memorial Park.

Mrs. Nichols is survived by two daughters, Mary Alsbrooks of McKenney, Va., and Lorraine Stallings of Wilmington; three sons, Wilson Nichols of Oxon Hill, Md., Marshall Nichols of Hallsboro and Willis Nichols of the home; and two brothers, James McKoy and Woddie McKoy, both of Hallsboro.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at Peoples Funeral Home chapel in Whiteville.

Charles Melvin

Charles Melvin, 56, of Route 2, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in his home.

John D. McKinwon

John D. McKinwon, 87, of 716 Weiss Ave., Fayetteville, died Sunday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Mr. McKinwon worked for Atlantic Coast Railroad before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Friendship Baptist Church by the Rev. Lee Downing. Burial will be in Northside Cemetery.

Mr. McKinwon is survived by a daughter, Carrie M. Smith of Fayetteville; three sons, Willie McKinwon, Charles McKinwon and Walter McKinwon, all of Fayetteville; a sister, Bertha M. Ross of Fayetteville; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Paye Funeral Home.

Ms. Patricia A. Kuhlman

Ms. Patricia Ann Kuhlman, 52, of 1725 Boros Drive, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in her home.

David G. Keeney

SOUTHERN PINES -- David George Keeney, 76, of 929 Knollwood Village died Wednesday in his home.

Mr. Keeney was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Keeney is survived by his wife, Iris Keeney of the home; two sons, Gregory Keeney of Philadelphia and Mark A. Keeney of Lake Villa, Ill.; two daughters, Marcia Keeney of Utica, N.Y., and Patricia Coblentz of Charlotte; a brother, Dr. Phillip Keeney of State College, Pa.; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home.

Mrs. Willie M. Judge

WALLACE -- Mrs. Willie Mae Judge, 69, 931 Deep Bottom Road died Sunday in Duplin General Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in St. Peter United Holy Church. Burial will be in Little Mission Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Garris Funeral Home.

Mrs. Judge is survived by her husband, Roy H. Judge of the home; a daughter, Brenda A. Freeman of Fayetteville; three sons, Joe N. Pigford of San Antonio, King S. Pigford of Fayetteville and Samuel D. Pigford of Teachey; a sister, Bettye M. Wright of Magnolia; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Eric Johnson

GEORGETOWN, Ga. -- Eric Johnson, 27, of Gerogetown died Monday in his home.

The funeral was conducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Chapman Funeral Home in Eufaula, Ala., by the Rev. Wes Bell.

Among Mr. Johnson’s survivors is a brother, Ronnie L. Johnson of Fayetteville, N.C.

Percell Heyward, 54, of 2002 Corrinna St., Fayetteville, died Monday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in John Wesley United Methodist Church by Dr. Jesse Brunson. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Heyward is survived by his wife, Jaunita W. Heyward of the home; a daughter, Robin M. Heyward of Fayetteville; a son, Michael P. Heyward of Fayetteville; four sisters, Nettie O’Reggio of Princeton, N.J., Albertha German of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Rita Green and Jeanne Heyward, both of Charleston, S.C.; his grandmother, Louise B. ‘‘Nettie’’ Heyward of Mount Pleasant; and a granddaughter.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Wiseman Mortuary.

James R. Hartley Sr.

ERWIN -- James Robert Hartley Sr., 56, of 209 West D Street died Wednesday in Good Hope Hospital.

Hodges Jr. of South Carolina and Mac Hodges of Dunn; a stepdaughter, Ann Barefoot of Benson; a sister, Betty J. Brown of Bunnlevel; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home in Dunn.

Ms. Edith S. Haire

ELIZABETHTOWN -- Ms. Edith Sherman Haire, 85, of Elizabethtown died Tuesday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kinlaw Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. David Elks. Burial will be in Bladen Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Haire is survived by several nieces and nephews.

SANFORD -- Carlie Lee ‘‘Punk’’ Collins, 53, of 7600 Deep River Road died Tuesday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.

Mr. Collins is survived by his parents, Collie and Louise Collins of Yanceyville; six brothers, Ray Collins and Donnie Collins, both of Sanford, Terry Collins of High Point and Earl Collins, Jerry Collins and Mike Collins, all of Yanceyville; and three sisters, Brenda Wall of Kenly, Ann Tart of Yanceyville and Debbie Woodson of Ruffin.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and at other times at 4528 Nicholson Road, Sanford.

Mrs. Nettie Campbell

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Nettie Campbell, 65, of 1827 Hestertown Road died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rock Hill Baptist Church by elder George Matthews. Burial will be in the Thompson family cemetery.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by four daughters, Ella Matthews and Elizabeth Thompson, both of Lumberton, Leona Matthews of Fayetteville and Sylvia Charles of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; four sons, Jeremiah Campbell of Lumberton, Larry Campbell of Fayetteville, James Campbell of Rivera, Fla., and Elijah Campbell of El Paso, Texas; three sisters, Alice Smith of Baltimore, Mary Foxe of Bronx, N.Y., and Nell Dennison of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five brothers, L.J. Thompson of Lumberton, Solomon Thompson of New York, John Thompson of Pennsylvania, Howard Paige of Florida and Samuel Thompson of Bronx; 21 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The public will be received Friday from noon to 7 p.m. at Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lizzie M. Butler

CONCORD -- Mrs. Lizzie Mason Butler, 81, of Concord, formerly of Harnett County, died Tuesday in Avante Nursing Home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Spring Hill United Methodist Church in Lillington by the Revs. Russell Blackmon and Bobby Tyson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Butler is survived by three daughters, Doris B. Sharpe of Sanford, Pat B. Cameron of Concord and Michelle D. Holland of Fuquay-Varina; a brother, John Mason of Lillington; two sisters, Mattie Matthews of Angier and Jane Holder of Shelby; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at O’Quinn-Peebles Funeral Home in Lillington and at other times at the home of Doris Sharpe in Sanford.

Mrs. Boettcher is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Read and Rena Culp, both of Laurinburg.
