A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in Community Congregational Church in Southern Pines by the Rev. Michael Garber. Arrangements are being handled by Powell Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mr. Arnott is survived by his wife, Martha L. Arnott of Pinehurst; two sons, Robert D. Arnott of Coral Springs, Fla., and Douglas G. Arnott of Vesta, N.Y.; a daughter, Nancy Arnott of Hillsborough; a brother, John Arnott of Syracuse, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Paul T. Hobgood Sr.

OXON HILL, Md. -- Paul T. Hobgood Sr., 74, of 5507 Helmont Drive died Friday in Southern Maryland Hospital Center.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, N.C., by Father Trent Watts. Arrangements are being handled by Rose & Graham Funeral Home of Benson.

Among Mr. Hobgood’s survivors is a sister, Myrtle Roebuck of Dunn, N.C.

Razzie R. Balkcum

ROSE HILL -- Razzie R. ‘‘Little Sam’’ Balkcum, 72, of 823 Balkcum Road died Saturday in his home.

Mr. Balkcum was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was a farmer and an Army veteran of World War II. He worked for Garland Shirt Factory before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Salem United Methodist Church by the Rev. Benjamin E. Horton. Burial will be in the Balkcum family cemetery.

Mr. Balkcum is survived by his wife, Rossie C. Balkcum; and two sisters, Magaline Balkcum of Clinton and Georgia B. Tew of Garland.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Royal-Hall Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church building fund.

BLADENBORO -- Michael Dean Nelson, 28, of 52 Juli’s Drive died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville by Pastor David Mosher. Burial will be in Bethel Hill Cemetery in Robeson County.

Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, Laura L. Nelson of Bladenboro; two daughters, Samantha Hobson and Taylor M. Nelson, both of Bladenboro; his parents, Carl D. and Annie Nelson of Fayetteville; three sisters, Gloria Jenkins of Franklin, N.Y., Cindy Dedafoe of Grayling, Mich., and Lola Dugan of Fayetteville; and four brothers, Mickey Nelson, Gary Nelson, Danny Nelson and Billy Nelson, all of Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

ERWIN -- John B. Hall, 71, of 115 Wilson St. died Sunday in his home.

Mr. Hall was a member of Grace Chapel Church. He worked for the maintenance department at Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dunn.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel in Benson by the Rev. Everett Faircloth. Burial will be in Elevation United Methodist Church cemetery in Benson.

Mr. Hall is survived by his wife Bertie M. Hall; four sons, John D. Hall of Erwin, Ronald E. Hall of Greenville, S.C., Donald R. Hall of Mulberry, Fla., and Jerry T. Hall of Mount Pleasant; three daughters, Linda Bowden of Benson, Lois Norris of Knightdale and Lucinda ‘‘Cindy’’ Moore of Newton Grove; four brothers, George A. Hall of Canton, David E. ‘‘Eb’’ Hall of Dunn, Ray Hall of Smithfield and James C. ‘‘J.C.’’ Hall of Dunn; a sister, Geneva Hall of Erwin; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Paul B. Wood

Paul B. Wood, 89, of 967 Angus St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Village Green Care Center.

Mr. Wood owned and operated P and L Pool Room and Grill for 25 years. He operated Sandrock and Kornbow airstrips, where he instructed pilots. Mr. Wood was a member of Vaughn Memorial Presbyterian Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Robert E. Pollock. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park.

Mr. Wood is survived by his wife, Lois S. Wood of Fayetteville; a son, Joseph A. Wood of Fayetteville; five stepsons, Tommy Bissette of Hope Mills, Charles Taylor of Fayetteville, Lee Bissette of Sarasota, Fla., Jim Sewell of Cary and Lawrence McMillian of Florence, S.C.; three stepdaughters, Dinah Henry of Burbank, Calif., Kathryn Aaron of Columbia, S.C., and Marian Shank of Broadway, Va.; seven sisters, Pearl Norman of Newport News, Va., Annie L. Rhodes, Eloise Raynor and Marie West, all of Spring Lake, Grace Raynor of Dunn and Lois Young and Edna Ferrell, both of Fayetteville; a granddaughter; 11 step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Lois M. Fuller

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Ms. Lois Mae Fuller, 66, of 200 Goffe St., formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died May 10.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Parks Chapel Freewill Baptist Church by elder W.T. Ford. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Spring Lake, N.C.

Ms. Fuller is survived by two sisters, Helen McCann and Alma R. Fuller, both of Fayetteville.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary in Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends at the homes of Helen McCann, 948 Louise Circle and Alma R. Fuller, 516 Auburndale Lane.

Ms. Marjorie M. Parsettie

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Ms. Marjorie May Parsettie, 70, of 602 Providence Drive, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Saturday in her home.

Ms. Parsettie formerly worked for Best Products.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville by the Rev. T.J. Fulk. Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

Ms. Parsettie is survived by a daughter, Marcha Pugh of Myrtle Beach; and a grandson.

Mrs. Edna C. Odom

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Edna Mae Canady Odom of 108 College Drive died Saturday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mrs. Odom was a member of Raeford First Baptist Church for 43 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Don Satterwhite. Burial will be in Raeford Cemetery.

Mrs. Odom is survived by her husband, Willie C. Odom of the home; three sons, David Odom of Lumberton, John Odom of Morehead City and James Odom of Raeford; a daughter, Betty Odom of Raeford; three brothers, Wilton Canady of Hope Mills and Edwin Canady and Ray Canady, both of Parkton; three sisters, Dorothy Baxley of Hope Mills, Marie Musselwhite of Fayetteville and Mary A. Fisher of Painter, Va.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crumpler Funeral Home.

Ronald J. Starkings

Mr. Shanks is survived by his wife, Minnie Shanks of Fayetteville; a son, Anthony Shanks of Cary; two sisters, Elaine Tolbert and Rita Shanks, both of Greenville, S.C.; and six brothers, Marshall Boles Jr. of Ithaca, N.Y., Grayland Joyner of Miami, Irvin Shanks, Harry Shanks and Willie Shanks, all of Greenville, and Johnny Shanks of Early Branch, S.C.
