SANFORD -- Ms. Naomi Franks Cotten, 89, of 1801 Wicker St. died Sunday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home chapel by the Revs. Bob Brown and Jim Staunton. Burial in will be in Buffalo Cemetery.

Ms. Cotten is survived by two daughters, Gloria Cheatham and Brenda Kelly, both of Sanford; a brother, Ivy Franks of Goldsboro; three sisters, Erma F. Johnson of Apex and Dell F. Holmes and Olivia F. Jones, both of Raleigh; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will recipe friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at 207 Chariot Drive, Sanford.

Memorials may be made to Congregational Christian United Church of Christ, 328 McIver St., Sanford, N.C. 27330.

Autry G. Collins

GARNER -- Autry Gray Collins, 62, of 1208 J.R. Drive died Sunday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Raleigh First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Buffaloe Presbyterian Church cemetery in Sanford. Arrangements are being handled by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home.

Among Mr. Collins’ survivors are a son, Gary M. Collins of Lumberton; a sister, Sue Davis of Raeford; and a brother, Donald Collins of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Hazeline H. Burts

Mrs. Hazeline Haire Burts, 66, of 4178 Tabor Church Road, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Sunrise Care & Rehabilitation.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Greater First Baptist Church in Cedar Creek by the Rev. N.P. Brodie. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Burts is survived by two stepsons, Jerry A. Burts of Charleston, S.C., and Freddie L. Burts of New York; a stepdaughter, Vickie B. Fordham of Charleston; and three sisters, Daisy H. Williams, Bertha H. Ford and Ella H. Avant, all of Fayetteville.

The public will be received today from 2 to 6 p.m. at H.M. Colvin Funeral Home.

A wake will be held tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.

Wilton N. Brown

SANFORD -- Wilton Norman Brown, 56, of 530 McIver St. died Monday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Carr’s Chapel Freewill Holiness Church by the Rev. Billy Bass. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Brown is survived by a son, Billy Kenzie of Roseboro; two sisters, Beulah Avery of Roseboro and Alma Simmons of Dunn; four brothers, Carson Brown of Roseboro, Loyd Brown of Shelby, John Brown of Sanford and Samuel Brown of Wallace; and a stepsister, Janice Evans of Asheboro.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Home.

Mrs. Susan F. Bradley

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. -- Mrs. Susan F. Bradley, 51, of 1722 Catawba St., formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died April 29.

Mrs. Bradley was a passenger service agent for American Airlines.

The funeral was held at Flamingo Road Church. Arrangements were handled by Boyd’s Family Funeral Home. Announcement was made by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

Miss Brittany J. Locklear

RED SPRINGS -- Miss Brittany Juanita Locklear, infant daughter of Timothy P. and Juanita J. Locklear, of Red Springs died Saturday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Fairpoint Baptist Church cemetery by the Revs. James E. Jones and Clennie Jones.

In addition to her parents, Brittany is survived by her maternal grandmother, Dessie M. Jacobs of Fairmont; and her paternal grandmother, Gracie L. Locklear of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.

Mrs. Louise W. Arrington

(Dated May 18, 1999)
Mrs. Louise Wiseman Arrington of 1337 Pamalee Drive, Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Arrington was an accountant for the civil service before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel in Spring Lake by Father Edward J. Kita. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mrs. Arrington is survived by a daughter, Linda C. Kreiter of Spring Lake; a son, Michael E. Bowyer of Spring Lake; a sister, Charlotte M. All of Salem, Va.; five brothers, Charles E. Wiseman of Leesburg, Va., Walter S. Wiseman of Brooksville, Pa., Raymond E. Wiseman of Oak Hill, W.Va., Maurice A. Wiseman of Danville, Va., and Glenn W. Wiseman of Salem; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Erin L. York (Dated Friday, November 5, 1999)

ROBBINS -- Miss Erin Lee York, 16, of 155 Coolidge Road died Wednesday.

Erin was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church. She was a junior at North Moore High School where she was a member of the Beta Club, Key Club, Annual Staff, the Volleyball Team and Softball Team.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Tabernacle Baptist Church by the Revs. Earl Dulaney and Thomas Holtsclaw. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Erin is survived by her parents, Dwight and Terri G. York of Robbins; a brother, Josh York of Robbins; her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth W. Garner of Robbins; her paternal grandfather, Jesse York of Carthage; and her paternal grandparents, Carol and Bill Richardson of Carthage.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Elizabeth W. Garner, 225 Virginia Ave.

Maggie J. Vann (Dated Friday, November 5, 1999)

CLINTON -- Mrs. Maggie J. Vann, 92, of 1-A Summerwood Apartments died Tuesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Elder Ivan Green will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday in Union Grove Disciples Church of Christ. Burial will be in Sandhills Cemetery.

Mrs. Vann is survived by three sisters, Mamie Newkirk and Ruth Williamson, both of Clinton, and Virginia Jacobs of Raleigh.

The public will be received today from 12:30 to 6 p.m. at Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home.

George A. Thompson (Dated Friday, November 5, 1999)

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- George Alton Thompson, 60, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Whiteville, N.C., died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Central Baptist Church in Whiteville by the Rev. David Flowers. Burial will be in Carver’s Creek Cemetery in Council, N.C. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Mr. Thompson is survived by three brothers, Frank Thompson of Yonkers, Clarence Thompson of Raeford, N.C., and David Thompson of Whiteville; and a sister, Carolyn Horne of Mount Vernon.

John ‘Ryan’ Strickland (Dated Friday, November 5, 1999)

CARY -- John ‘‘Ryan’’ Strickland, 20, of Cary, formerly of Dunn, died Tuesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Divine Street United Methodist Church in Dunn by the Revs. James L. Summey and E. Powell Osteen. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn. Arrangements are being handled by Skinner Funeral Home of Dunn.

Mr. Strickland is survived by his father, John M. Strickland of White, Ga.; his mother and stepfather, Ida S. and William E. Wood Jr. of Cary; and his grandmother, Ida P. Nelson of Burlington.

The public will be received Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

The family will receive friends at the home of Helen and Randy Willard, 1505 Primrose Lane.

Edith Stewart (Dated Friday, November 5, 1999)

PEMBROKE -- Ms. Edith Stewart, 95, of Pemberton Place Nursing Home died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bear Swamp Baptist Church by the Rev. Timmy Chavis and Bishop Willie Wynn. Burial will be in St. Anna Free Will Baptist Church cemetery.

Ms. Stewart is survived by two daughters, Geneva Lucas of Pembroke and Angie L. Steele of Graham; 13 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight beginning at 7 at Thompson’s Funeral Home.

Ida W. Singleton (Dated Friday, November 5, 1999)

RED SPRINGS -- Ms. Ida Whitehurst Singleton, 93, of Red Springs died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Ms. Singleton was a a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a teacher before retiring.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jo Ann Oulton. Private entombment will be in Alloway Cemetery.

Ms. Singleton is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Dunn of Greensboro, Rebecca Jackson of Red Springs and Susan Jones of Montclair, N.J.; six sisters, Carrie Matthews of Robersonville, Evelyn Ginsberg of River Falls, Wis., Georgia Oakley and Clara Williams, both of Greenville, Edna Stein of Lacrosse, Wis., and Catherine Bullock of Stokes; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Crumpler Funeral Home.

Juanita Shaw (Dated Friday, November 5, 1999)

CLINTON -- Mrs. Juanita Shaw, 88, of 80 Jerome St. died Monday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Elder Fred McKoy will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday in Evening Light Holiness Church. Burial will be in McKoy Cemetery.

Mrs. Shaw is survived by five daughters, Marjorie Shaw of Raleigh, El Dora Laws of Plainfield, N.J., La Rue Hall of Clinton, Earlene Holding of East Orange, N.J., and Patricia Hoskins of Midway, Ga.; a sister, Wilma Williams of Clinton; a brother, Norman McKoy of Cleveland; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Parker was an Army veteran of World War II.
