HIGH POINT -- Mrs. Missie Alford, 76, of Newgate Apartments, formerly of Lumberton, died Thursday in her home.

Edward H. Johnston (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)
WAGRAM -- Edward H. Johnston, former mayor of Wagram, died Sunday in his home. Mr. Johnston, of 16221 Lake Shore Drive, was 82.
Mr. Johnston was a cotton broker before retiring. He was the former co-owner and operator of Farmers Bonded Warehouses, Johnston Brothers Inc., and Deercroft Inc.
He is a former city councilman.
Mr. Johnston was a past deacon and elder at Montpelier Presbyterian Church, a volunteer fireman and a member of the American Legion. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Spring Hill Cemetery by the Revs. Jim Johns and Harry Clark.
Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife, Ruth G. Johnston of Wagram; a son, Ed Johnston of Laurinburg; a daughter, Sherry McIllwain of Wagram; a sister, Doris Lineberger of Lincolnton; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Patricia W.D. Hoberecht, 59, of Raeford died Sunday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Powell Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Don Ballenger.
Mrs. Hoberecht is survived by her husband, Herman D. Hoberecht of Raeford; three daughters, Diana J. Hoberecht of Raeford, Patti J. Peterson of Ansonia, Conn., and Susie Peterson of Monroe, Conn.; a brother, John R. Donnelly of Nokomis, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

HOUSTON -- Mrs. Lunet McDougal, 65, of Houston, formerly of Clarkton, N.C., died Sunday in Hospice Texas Medical Center.

ORRUM -- Mrs. Lummie Walters Edwards, 90, of 907 Barnesville Church Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
Mrs. Edwards was a member of Barnesville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Barnesville Baptist Church in Barnesville by the Rev. David McClellan. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Orrum.
Mrs. Edwards is survived by a son, Maurice Edwards of Orrum; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Hannah Whitfield, 59, of 517 Peden St. died Friday in Edwin Morgan Center.

Mrs. Whitfield is survived by a son, Robert W. Whitfield of Laurinburg; a sister, Ann L. Smith of Hamlet; two brothers, Willie F. Smith and Jimmy G. Smith, both of Hamlet; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

Ms. Jackson was a retired sales associate of Belk Department Store.

Mr. Sutton was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a farmer.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Floyd Funeral Services chapel by the Rev. Ed Wilcox and Dr. Thomas L. Rich. Burial will be in Floyd Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Pittman is survived by his wife, Quentaline P. Pittman of the home; a son, Cary Pittman of Fairmont; two daughters, Treva Walters of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Betty Lunsford of Sterling, Va.; three sisters, Ruby Atkinson of Lumberton, Lillie Herndon of Little River, S.C., and Jenny Skein of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Jenkins is survived by a brother, Earl Jenkins of Roswell, N.M.; and a sister, Lucille J. Barnes of Orrum.

BLADENBORO -- Ms. Mable Forean Bellamy, 43, of 913 Singletary St. died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Ms. Bellamy is survived by five sisters, Shirley Hickman and Sally Hickman, both of Whiteville, Roxie Lloyd of Bladenboro, Evelina Lewis of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Lena Bellamy of Greensboro; and four brothers, Adolph Lewis of Aiken, S.C., Mike Bellamy of Queens, N.Y., Ulysses Lewis of Bladenboro and James Bellamy of Augusta, Ga.

WANTAGH, N.Y. -- Lawrence S. Daly, 81, of 3579 Park Ave., formerly of Clinton, N.C., died Wednesday in Massapeque General Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Issac Johnson. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Daly is survived by two stepdaughters, Lia Jeffery and Andrea Jeffery, both of Atlanta; three stepsons, Rex Jeffery of Houston and Marcel Jeffery and Frederick Jeffery, both of Central Islip; and five grandchildren.
The public will be received today from 1 to 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
