CLARKTON -- James Liberty Adams, 66, of 67 Crest View Way died Wednesday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Missie Alford (Dated Friday, November 5, 1999)

HIGH POINT -- Mrs. Missie Alford, 76, of Newgate Apartments, formerly of Lumberton, died Thursday in her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Central Funeral Home.

Edward H. Johnston (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

WAGRAM -- Edward H. Johnston, former mayor of Wagram, died Sunday in his home. Mr. Johnston, of 16221 Lake Shore Drive, was 82.

Mr. Johnston was a cotton broker before retiring. He was the former co-owner and operator of Farmers Bonded Warehouses, Johnston Brothers Inc., and Deercroft Inc.

He is a former city councilman.

Mr. Johnston was a past deacon and elder at Montpelier Presbyterian Church, a volunteer fireman and a member of the American Legion. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Spring Hill Cemetery by the Revs. Jim Johns and Harry Clark.

Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife, Ruth G. Johnston of Wagram; a son, Ed Johnston of Laurinburg; a daughter, Sherry McIllwain of Wagram; a sister, Doris Lineberger of Lincolnton; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Memorials may be made to Montpelier Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 407, Wagram, N.C. 28369; or to Children’s Home Society, P.O. Box 14605, Greensboro, N.C. 27415.

Patricia D. Hoberecht (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

RAEFORD -- Mrs. Patricia W.D. Hoberecht, 59, of Raeford died Sunday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Powell Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Don Ballenger.

Mrs. Hoberecht is survived by her husband, Herman D. Hoberecht of Raeford; three daughters, Diana J. Hoberecht of Raeford, Patti J. Peterson of Ansonia, Conn., and Susie Peterson of Monroe, Conn.; a brother, John R. Donnelly of Nokomis, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Lunet McDougal (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

HOUSTON -- Mrs. Lunet McDougal, 65, of Houston, formerly of Clarkton, N.C., died Sunday in Hospice Texas Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Cromartie & Cunningham Mortuary of Clarkton.

Lummie W. Edwards (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

ORRUM -- Mrs. Lummie Walters Edwards, 90, of 907 Barnesville Church Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mrs. Edwards was a member of Barnesville Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Barnesville Baptist Church in Barnesville by the Rev. David McClellan. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Orrum.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by a son, Maurice Edwards of Orrum; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont.

Jimmy R. Williams (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

SANFORD -- Jimmy Robert Williams, 58, of 1917 Whip-Poor-Will Lane died Monday in Central Carolina Hospital.

Arrangements will be announced by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Hannah Whitfield (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Hannah Whitfield, 59, of 517 Peden St. died Friday in Edwin Morgan Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in Green Pond Church of God in Christ by Elder George Davis. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Whitfield is survived by a son, Robert W. Whitfield of Laurinburg; a sister, Ann L. Smith of Hamlet; two brothers, Willie F. Smith and Jimmy G. Smith, both of Hamlet; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home.

Erma Parsons (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

CLINTON -- Mrs. Erma Parsons, 80, of 422E Powell St. died Monday in her home.

Mrs. Parsons was a member of First United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Hugh Cameron. Burial will be in Clinton City Cemetery.

Mrs. Parsons is survived by her husband, Seth W. Parsons of the home; a son, W. Douglas Parsons of Clinton; a daughter, Jo Lee Parsons of Charlotte; a sister, Evelyn L. Hudson of Benson; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Pauline B. Styers (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

ABERDEEN -- Ms. Pauline Blue Styers, 86, of Aberdeen died Monday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Powell Funeral Home by Dr. Michal Hall. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.

Ms. Styers is survived by a son, James D. Styers of Milwaukee; a brother, Coker Blue of Sanford; a sister, Ruth Williams of Aberdeen; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Juanita N. Jackson (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

GARNER -- Ms. Juanita Naylor Jackson, 89, of Garner, formerly of Dunn, died Saturday.

Ms. Jackson was a retired sales associate of Belk Department Store.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church by the Revs. Jesse Fulcher and Gordon Hart. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Jackson is survived by a son, George H. Jackson Jr. of Fuquay-Varina; two brothers, Joe Naylor of Dunn and Gene Naylor of Raleigh; a sister, Margaret Jackson of Buckroe Beach, Va.; a grandchild; and two step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Skinner Funeral Home.

Mack H. Sutton (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

ROSE HILL -- Mack H. Sutton of Rose Hill died Monday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Mr. Sutton was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a farmer.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity United Methodist Church by the Revs. Dorothy and William Rudd. Burial will be in Clinton City Cemetery.

Mr. Sutton is survived by his wife, Jean Westbrook of Rose Hill; a son, Mark Sutton of Clinton; a daughter, Sheila McMillin of Summerfield; two sisters, Margaret S. Williamson and Frances S. Smith, both of Clinton; a brother, Horace Sutton of Ingold; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.

Prather B. Pittman (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

FAIRMONT -- Prather Braddy Pittman, 90, of 3940 N.C. 41 South died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mr. Pittman was a farmer before retiring. He was a member of Centerville Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Floyd Funeral Services chapel by the Rev. Ed Wilcox and Dr. Thomas L. Rich. Burial will be in Floyd Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Pittman is survived by his wife, Quentaline P. Pittman of the home; a son, Cary Pittman of Fairmont; two daughters, Treva Walters of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Betty Lunsford of Sterling, Va.; three sisters, Ruby Atkinson of Lumberton, Lillie Herndon of Little River, S.C., and Jenny Skein of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Centerville Baptist Church, 3428 N.C. 41 South, Lumberton, N.C. 28358.

George Jenkins (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

LUMBERTON -- George Jenkins, 70, of Glezen Family Care Home, formerly of Orrum, died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Jenkins was a farmer before retiring.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Fairmont Cemetery in Fairmont by the Rev. David McClellan.

Mr. Jenkins is survived by a brother, Earl Jenkins of Roswell, N.M.; and a sister, Lucille J. Barnes of Orrum.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Floyd Funeral Services in Fairmont and at other times at 2580 Princess Ann Road, Orrum.

Mable F. Bellamy (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

BLADENBORO -- Ms. Mable Forean Bellamy, 43, of 913 Singletary St. died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Gregory Taylor. Burial will be in Brooklyn Memorial Garden. Arrangements are being handled by Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville.

Ms. Bellamy is survived by five sisters, Shirley Hickman and Sally Hickman, both of Whiteville, Roxie Lloyd of Bladenboro, Evelina Lewis of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Lena Bellamy of Greensboro; and four brothers, Adolph Lewis of Aiken, S.C., Mike Bellamy of Queens, N.Y., Ulysses Lewis of Bladenboro and James Bellamy of Augusta, Ga.

David B. Dick (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

PINEHURST -- David B. Dick, 25, of Pinehurst died Monday.

Arrangements will be announced by Boles Funeral Home & Crematory.

Lawrence S. Daly (Dated Tuesday, October 12, 1999)

WANTAGH, N.Y. -- Lawrence S. Daly, 81, of 3579 Park Ave., formerly of Clinton, N.C., died Wednesday in Massapeque General Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Issac Johnson. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Daly is survived by two stepdaughters, Lia Jeffery and Andrea Jeffery, both of Atlanta; three stepsons, Rex Jeffery of Houston and Marcel Jeffery and Frederick Jeffery, both of Central Islip; and five grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
