RALEIGH -- Clarence Clifton McGregor Jr., 73, of 615 Quarry St., formerly of Raeford, died Saturday in Wake Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Doby Funeral Home of Raeford.

Leonard F. McDuffie

(Dated April 21, 1999)
Leonard Franklin McDuffie, 63, of 3301 Plantation Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in Highsmith-Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Mr. McDuffie was the owner and operator of Len’s Radiator Shop.

A graveside service will be conducted at noon Thursday in LaFayette Memorial Park by the Rev. William F. Hemmingway. Arrangements are being handled by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Mr. McDuffie is survived by his wife, Rachel Ann McDuffie; six sons, Leonard F. McDuffie Jr. of Smithfield, Howard O. Crisp of Fayetteville, Timothy Crisp of Killeen, Texas, and Charles E. Crisp, Robert Crisp and David Crisp, all of Tulsa, Okla.; five daughters, Deborah Allen and Nancy McDuffie, both of Dover, Tenn., Lisa McDuffie of Atlanta, Connie McDuffie of the home and Virginia Moon of Tulsa; four brothers, Don McDuffie, Mike McDuffie, Auley McDuffie and Larry McDuffie, all of Fayetteville; five sisters, Edna Matterson of Fallston, Md., Sarah Coulette of Alpine, Texas, and Katie Cowart, Dorothy Coats and Mary Dixon, all of Fayetteville; and 16 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Willie W. ‘Pete’ Leach
MAXTON -- Willie Weston ‘‘Pete’’ Leach, 73, of 416 E. Azalea Court died Friday in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in William Chapel AME Zion Methodist Church in Alma by the Rev. Sarah Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Leach is survived by three sons, Willie C. Leach of Maxton, Doc S. ‘‘Bobby’’ Leach of Wagram and James H. Leach of Laurinburg; four daughters, Elizabeth Leach, Dorothy G. Leach and Ruth McCray, all of Patterson, N.J., and Gladys Leach of Maxton; and 16 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at Carrie Hester Funeral Services.

Murt F. Kelty

Retired Army Col. Murt Francis Kelty, 78, of 822 Shortridge Road, Fayetteville, died Monday in Highland House Nursing Home.

Mr. Kelty was in the 7th Special Forces Group and the 187th Rakkasans Airborne.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in JFK Chapel on Fort Bragg by Father Edward J. Kita. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. Arrangements are being handled by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Mr. Kelty is survived by his wife, Joan B. Kelty; a stepson, Louis J. Ferroni of Wichita Falls, Texas; and a sister, Charlotte Tafrew of Trenton, N.J.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the home.

Richard A. Grosclaude

Richard A. Grosclaude, 56, of Fayetteville died Tuesday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Kenneth W. Griffith

SUGARLAND, Texas -- Kenneth W. Griffith, 48, of 3206 Miller’s Oak Lane died Saturday in his home.

A private service will be held. Announcement made by Powell Funeral Home & Crematory.

Among Mr. Griffith’s survivors are his parents, Robert G. and Katheryn Griffith of Whispering Pines, N.C.

Earl Williams

Retired Army Master Sgt. Earl Williams, 75, of 720 Edgehill Road, Fayetteville, died Friday in Veterans Hospital in Richmond.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Cumberland Memorial Gardens by the Rev. O.W. Hendrix. Arrangements are being handled by Paye Funeral Home & Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Williams is survived by a brother, John Williams of Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Ms. Clara M. Dixon

CHARLOTTE -- Ms. Clara Mae McIntyre Dixon, 59, of 6201 Whitewater Drive, formerly of Elizabethtown, died Saturday in Presbyterian Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Dixon is survived by three daughters, Deborah McIntyre of Brooklyn, N.Y., Sherry McIntyre of New York and Brenda McIntyre of Charlotte; a brother, Bobby R. McIntyre of Bronx, N.Y.; a sister, Patricia J. Ferdinand of Queens, N.Y.; and a granddaughter.

The public will be received today from 1 to 6 p.m. at F.W. Newton & Sons Mortuary.

The family will receive friends at the home of Arletha McMillian, 803 Peanut Road, Elizabethtown.

Alexander V. Curameng

Alexander V. Curameng, 48, of 944 Brookridge Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Estelle D. Crawford

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Estelle DeHart Crawford, 93, of 1000 Wesley Pines Road died Monday in Wesley Pines Nursing Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rowland United Methodist Church in Rowland by the Revs. Gene Goldfinch and William E. Link. Burial will be in Rowland Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Mrs. Crawford is survived by two daughters, Jean Clansky of Menlo Park, Calif., and Doris McCormick of Rowland; two brothers, James DeHart of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Clarence DeHart of Newberry, S.C.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the church fellowship hall.

Mrs. Annie R. Bullard

WILMINGTON -- Mrs. Annie Reeves Bullard of Wilmington, formerly of Garland, died Monday in Davis Health Care Center.

Mrs. Bullard was a teacher in Sampson County before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday in Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro by the Rev. David McLaurin. Burial will be in Roseboro Cemetery.

Mrs. Bullard is survived by two sons, Dr. Lubin F. Bullard Sr. of Wilmington and Billy R. Bullard of Lexington; four grandsons; and three great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Flora Braswell

SOUTHERN PINES -- Mrs. Flora Braswell, 94, of Southern Pines died Friday in Autumn Care Nursing Center in Raeford.

Mrs. Braswell was a member of Thomas Chapel Church in Vass.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in McMillan Funeral Home chapel in Lumberton by the Revs. James Malloy and W. E. Cummings. Burial will be in Meadow Branch Cemetery in Lumberton.

Mrs. Braswell is survived by a sister, Leola S. McCallum of Hyattsville, Md.; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends today from 3 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the home of James Smith, 1817 Hayswood St., Lumberton.

Charlie A. Beatty

(Dated April 21, 1999)
KILL DEVIL HILLS -- Charlie Arnold Beatty, 66, of Waters Edge Drive, formerly of Clinton, died Monday in Albemarle Hospital.

Mr. Beatty was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was vice president of Consumer Credit of Southern National Bank in Lumberton before retiring. He was president of the N.C. Consumer Credit Division of the N.C. Banker’s Association.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clinton City Cemetery.

Mr. Beatty is survived by his wife, Rose S. Beatty of Kill Devil Hills; a son, Stephen F. Beatty of Kill Devil Hills; three daughters, Leslie B. Avery and Jill L. Beatty, both of Kill Devil Hills, and Mary F. Austin of Greenville, S.C.; his mother, Mary B. Thomas of Clinton; a brother, Thomas Beatty of Fayetteville; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Esther B. Bass

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Esther Bullard Bass, 73, of 3228 Hennardland Place died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Bass was a member of Second Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Second Baptist Church in Fayetteville by the Rev. Dave Holloway. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Bass is survived by her husband, Alfred O. Bass; a son, Jerry O. Bass of Fayetteville; a brother, Charles Bullard of Fayetteville; and four sisters, Ernie M. Lee, Mickie Daniels and Ruth Bugbee, all of Fayetteville, and Louis Livingston of Roseboro.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Robert L. Williams

LUMBERTON -- Robert Lee Williams, 82, of Lot 36, Turner Mobile Home Park, died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mr. Williams was a retired steelworker.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Meadow Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Janice McClelland.

Mr. Williams is survived by a daughter, Terry F. Slater of Lumberton; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home.
