James I. Dameron
(Dated Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999)

LAURINBURG -- James Ira Dameron, 57, of 11800 Cypress Drive died Friday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Mr. Dameron was a former machinist for National Twist Drill.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in Laurinburg Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Revs. Jerry Wilkes and Kenneth Blease. Burial will be Wednesday in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Arrangements are being handled by McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Mr. Dameron is survived by his wife, Patsy S. Dameron; two sons, James W. Dameron of Laurinburg and Mark S. Dameron of Maxton; his mother, Bertha W. Dameron of Kingsport, Tenn.; three brothers, Jack Dameron and Aaron Dameron, both of Tazewell, Va., and Jerry Dameron of Blountville, Tenn.; a sister, Sandra Wallace of Laurinburg; and a grandson.

Memorials may be made to National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, N.Y. 10026.

Gayther E. Gurganious Sr.
(Dated Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999)

Gayther Edgar ‘‘Gus’’ Gurganious Sr., 67, of 1812 Martindale Drive, Fayetteville, died Thursday.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Ken Pritchard. Burial will be in Riverview Memorial Gardens in Willard.

Mr. Gurganious is survived by a daughter, Rose A. Gurganious of Fayetteville; two sons, Victor M. Gurganious and Tony M. Gurganious, both of Fayetteville; five sisters, Durema Latham of Hampstead, Nancy Rogers, Jo Pridgen and Brenda McAdams, all of Wilmington, and Toni Taylor of Jacksonville; and a brother, Mike Gurganious of Willard.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

William H. West
(Dated Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999)

SANFORD -- William Howard West, 80, of 2063 Falling Stream died Friday in Central Carolina Hospital.

Mr. West was a teacher and a principal in North Carolina public schools before retiring. He attended First Baptist Church in Aberdeen.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home chapel in Thomasville. Burial will be in Thomasville City Cemetery.

Mr. West is survived by two daughters, Norma W. Piestrak of Sanford and Sarah W. Royal of Clayton; two sons, John M. West of Raleigh and William H. West Jr. of Trinity; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Ronie M. Woodel
(Dated Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999)

CARTHAGE -- Ms. Ronie M. Woodel, 86, of 801 Pinehurst Ave. died Friday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Ms. Woodel retired from Bassett Furniture in Ramseur.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Bennett Baptist Church cemetery in Bennett by the Rev. James E. Cockram.

Ms. Woodel is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Needham of Seagrove; a son, Jerry R. Woodel of Robbins; seven grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins.

Mrs. Clara M. Hamm
(Dated Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999)

Mrs. Clara May Hamm, 72, of 2743 Legion Road, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Hamm was a member of First Baptist Church.

A graveside service was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Main Post Cemetery on Fort Bragg by Dr. Glenn Holt. Arrangements were handled by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hamm is survived by a son, David W. Hamm of Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3109 Poplarwood Court, Suite 125, Raleigh, N.C. 27604-1043.

Mrs. Vivian S. Hall
(Dated Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999)

Mrs. Vivian Snuggs Hall of 200 Pate Drive, Fayetteville, died Friday in her home.

Mrs. Hall taught English and Latin at Goldsboro High School, Massey Hill High School and Terry Sanford High School. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Feb. 21 in First Baptist Church by Dr. John Bergland. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, Dr. Daniel K. Hall of Fayetteville; three daughters, Katherine Pugh of Fayetteville, Dr. Jenny L. Hall of Goldsboro and Sarah J. Wolfe of Panama; two sons, Dr. Stephen F. Pate of Las Cruces, N.M., and Kirk Hall of Louisville, Ky.; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Hall Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 53737, Fayetteville, N.C. 28305.

Ms. Alma H. Parker
(Dated Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999)

CLARKTON -- Ms. Alma Lee Howell Parker, 59, of 570 Burney Ford Road died Friday in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Clarkton Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church by the Revs. Charlie Tatum and Danny Helms. Burial will be in Clarkton Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Lewis Funeral Home.

Ms. Parker is survived by a son, William M. Parker of Clarkton; four brothers, David Howell and Richard Howell, both of Clarkton, Jack Howell of Oxford and Billy Howell of Dunn; two sisters, Edith Jackson of Clarkton and Martha Harrellson of Elizabethtown; and two grandchildren.

Ronald D. Johnson

AUTRYVILLE -- Ronald Darrell Johnson, 41, of 71 Hayne Stretch Road died Monday.

Ira H. Green

LUMBERTON -- Ira Herman Green, 91, of 840 Moores Lane died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Green was a retired carpenter.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in Biggs Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Burnie Bailey. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery.

Mr. Green is survived by his wife, Mary Ann C. Green of the home; two sons, Martin Green of Whitestone, N.Y., and Herman Green of Lumberton; a daughter, Mildred Burnette of Lumberton; 19 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Lawrence F. Cheatham Sr.

SANFORD -- Lawrence F. ‘‘Larry’’ Cheatham Sr., 81, of 1821 Spring Lane died Friday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Eric Porterfield. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery.

Mr. Cheatham is survived by his wife, Helen J. Cheatham of Sanford; a son, Larry F. Cheatham Jr. of Sanford; a daughter, Judy C. Moon of Sanford; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

BENSON -- Mrs. Jeneil ‘‘Jill’’ Benson Bonner, 70, of 306 E. Harnett St. died Friday in her home.

Mrs. Bonner was a member of Elevation United Methodist Church. She worked in the retail clothing business before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Elevation United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Bonner is survived by a son, John R. Bonner of Benson; a daughter, Meloney B. Feldkamp of Cincinnati; a brother, Aldis Benson of Benson; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home.
