John E. Scollard

SOUTHERN PINES -- John Edward Scollard, 90, of Southern Pines died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mr. Scollard was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church by Father Butler. Arrangements are being handled by Powell Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mr. Scollard is survived by his wife, Alice J. Scollard of Southern Pines; a son, John S. Scollard of Hendersonville; two daughters, Sharon Siegel of Coraopolis, Pa., and Gail Hendry of Southern Pines; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends after the Mass at the church.
Memorials may be made to Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Southern Pines, N.C.
Miss Brielle T. Bushyager

Miss Brielle Tiffany Bushyager, 4, of 7678 Heriot Drive, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Andrews United Methodist Church by the Rev. Haywood Smith. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
Miss Bushyager is survived by her parents, Capt. Jeremy and Holly Bushyager of the home; two brothers, Jerrad Bushyager, her twin, and Brock Bushyager, both of the home; her paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Francis ‘‘Skip‘‘ and Dawn Kelsch of Bechtelsville, Pa.; her paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Mary J. and Dean Christos of Allentown, Pa.; and her maternal grandparents, Doug and Jane Routt of Ameherst, N.Y.

Ms. Lillie B. Halks

NAKINA -- Ms. Lillie Benny Halks, 81, of Nakina died Sunday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in Charlotte-Ward Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by McKenzie Mortuary.
Ms. Halks is survived by two sons, Mack J. Ward and Grover S. Halks, both of Whiteville; and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Barbara S. Bloxson

WAGRAM -- Mrs. Barbara Ellen Shepherd Bloxson of 23329 Crandall St. died Tuesday in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.
Mrs. Bloxson was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a bus driver for the Scotland County Schools.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Russell Baker. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bloxson is survived by her husband, John Bloxson Sr. of the home; a son, John Bloxson Jr. of Boone; three daughters, Betty Bloxson of Wakulla, Phyllis Bloxson of Dayton, Ohio, and Doris Bloxson of Wagram; her stepmother, Janie Shepherd of Laurinburg; five brothers, Marion Shepherd of High Point, Richard Shepherd of Atlanta, Bill Shepherd of Mableton, Ga., Mark Shepherd of Marietta, Ga., and Chalmers Shepherd of Hunting Beach, Calif.; a sister, Joann S. Johnson of Kennesaw, Ga.; and a granddaughter.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McDougald Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Milton ‘Mickey’ Parker

GARLAND -- Milton ‘‘Mickey’’ Parker, 50, of 7235 Old Mintz Highway died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Smith’s Chapel AME Zion Church by the Rev. Jerry Parker. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife, Shirley Parker of the home; a brother, James Johnson Jr. of Parkersburg; and two sisters, Marietta J. Glenn of Fayetteville and Belinda Johnson of Greensboro.
The public will be received today from 1 to 7 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
Colon Smith

ROWLAND -- Colon Smith, 68, of 234 S. Chicken Road died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Providence AME Zion Church by Bishop Harry Lee and the Rev. M. Cornell Smith. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Maultsby and Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Ida M. Smith of Rowland; two daughters, Patricia A. Smith of Rowland and Rosemary Charles of Lumberton; two sons, Kenneth Smith of Lumberton and DeMarsh Smith of Rowland; two sisters, Macie Rowdy and Blanche Hubbard, both of Rowland; two brothers, Silas Smith of Spring Valley, N.Y., and Lee Smith of Charlotte; and 10 grandchildren.

Mrs. Annie Hall

Mrs. Annie Lou Averitt Hall, the mayor pro tem of Stedman, died Saturday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mrs. Hall, of 5100 Jefferson St., was 75.
Mrs. Hall was a leader in Cumberland County Democratic politics.
She had served on the Stedman town council for 12 years. She had been mayor pro tem for two terms.
Mrs. Hall was a supervisor of the switchboard and dispatchers at the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, where she had worked for more than 20 years.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Butler Funeral Home of Roseboro.

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Eugene L. Whitmire, 70, of 915 Appalachin Drive, Fayetteville, died Friday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Mr. Whitmire was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Adcock Funeral Home chapel in Spring Lake by Chaplain Richard G. Anderson. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
Mr. Whitmire is survived by his wife, Donna S. Whitmire of Fayetteville; three daughters, Darlene Godfrey of New Hampshire, Patty Shorts of Lilesville and Annmarie Daughtry of Linden; three sons, Terry G. Whitmire of Texas, Gary Whitmire of Linden and Kevin Klemenko of Broadway; a sister, Joyce Kennedy of Virginia Beach, Va.; and 11 grandchildren.

Mrs. Flossie E. Tatum

WHITE OAK -- Mrs. Flossie Evans Tatum, 93, of N.C. 53 died Saturday in Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
Mrs. Tatum was a teacher in Bladen County before retiring.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in White Oak Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Lewis. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Butler Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tatum is survived by a sister, Annie R. Wood of Raleigh.

Robinson of Clinton and Jackie Robinson of Fayetteville; a sister, Alene Peterson of Hudson, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
