James M. Sandor, 58, of 2907 Player Ave., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by McNeill Funeral Home.

John R. Dozier (Dated Sunday, July 25, 1999)

John Richard Dozier, 44, of Fayetteville died Friday in Elderlodge Nursing Home.

Arrangements will be announced by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

James N. Maxwell Sr. (Dated Sunday, July 25, 1999)

RAEFORD -- James N. ‘‘Jim’’ Maxwell Sr., 78, of 310 E. Elwood Ave. died Saturday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Mr. Maxwell was a member of Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Maxwell was a farm equipment dealer in Red Springs.

The funeral will be conducted at 5 p.m. Monday in Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church by the Rev. John C. Ropp. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Maxwell is survived by his wife, Sarah E. Maxwell of Raeford; a son, Jimmy Maxwell of Dundarrach; two daughters, Sally L. Ivey of Mebane and Mary M. Barnett of Rockingham; three brothers, Robert Maxwell of Fayetteville, John Maxwell of Raeford and Malcom Maxwell of Ayden; two sisters, Marion Clark of Raeford and Geraldine Adams of Lumberton; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 to 9 at Crumpler Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Lumber Bridge Presbyterian Church building fund, P. O. Box 520, Lumber Bridge, N.C. 28357.

Mrs. Anna D. Chavis (Dated Sunday, July 25, 1999)

ROWLAND -- Mrs. Anna Demery Chavis, 64, of 2323 W. Dew Road died Friday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Floyd Memorial Chapel by the Revs. Phyliss Bollinger, Beler Resinger, Keith Hunt and Earl Chavis. Burial will be in Raynham Indian Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Floyd Mortuary & Crematory.

Mrs. Chavis is survived by her husband, Claude Chavis of the home; a son, James R. Chavis of Lumberton; a daughter, Virginia M. Register of Rowland; a brother, Jessie Demery of Rowland; two sisters, Alice Hunt and Delorise Demery, both of Lumberton; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Ms. Mildred H. Shipp (Dated Sunday, July 25, 1999)

CLINTON -- Ms. Mildred H. Shipp, 83, of 301 Stetson St. died Friday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Shipp owned and operated Shipp’s Grocery Store. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church by Dr. Darden Battle. Burial will be in Clinton Cemetery.

Ms. Shipp is survived by four daughters, Jaunita G. Warner and Ida K. Owens, both of Clinton, Wanza F. Bulluck of Rocky Mount and Gloria J. Maynard of Harrells; a son, Jimmy D. Shipp of Clinton; three sisters, Annie R. McDonald of Massachusetts, Frances Meeks of Eden and Ethel Martin of Wrightsville Beach; a brother, Tommy Hubbard of Wilmington; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sarah G. William (Dated Sunday, July 25, 1999)

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Mrs. Sarah G. William, 87, of Brooklyn, formerly of St. Pauls, N.C., died Wednesday.

Arrangements will be announced by McKoy & Sons Mortuary.

LUMBERTON -- Willie M. Ivey, 59, of 1687 E. Hardin Road died Saturday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Durham.

LUMBER BRIDGE -- Harry McRae, 87, of 1261 Glenn Road died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

EVERGREEN -- Mrs. Eppie Pyatt Williamson, 85, of Haynes-Lennon Highway died Saturday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

Ms. Elizabeth B. Dixon (Dated Sunday, July 25, 1999)

Ms. Elizabeth Bennett Dixon, 91, of Fayetteville died Saturday in Hope Mills Retirement Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Ms. Elsie Thompson (Dated Sunday, July 25, 1999)

LUMBERTON -- Ms. Elsie Thompson, 75, of 2115 Kentucky Circle died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Central Funeral Home.

Ms. Mary McNair (Dated Sunday, July 25, 1999)

ROWLAND -- Ms. Mary McNair, 81, of U.S. 301 North died Friday in Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Providence AME Zion Church by the Rev. Carnell Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. McNair is survived by three sons, Albert McNair of Trenton, N.J., and Charlie McNair and Harold McNair, both of Greensboro; a daughter, Delois McNeill of Little Rock, S.C.; a brother, Bruce McNair of Rowland; two sisters, Callie B. McNair of Rowland and Lois Lamper of Washington, D.C.; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

The public will be received Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Baker’s Funeral Home.

Miss Frances F. Johnson (Dated Sunday, July 25, 1999)

CLINTON -- Miss Frances Faison Johnson, 61, of 31 Scott Place died Saturday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Miss Johnson was a member of Faison Presbyterian Church.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in Clinton Cemetery by the Rev. Hugh H. Cameron. Arrangements are being handled by Royal-Hall Funeral Home.

Miss Johnson is survived by her mother, Frances F. Johnson; a sister, Mary L. Nuckolls of Galax, Va.; and a brother, Jeff D. Johnson III of the home.

The family will receive friends at the home.

James H. Thompson (Dated Friday, July 30, 1999)

CERRO GORDO -- James Henry Thompson of Cerro Gordo died recently.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Thomas Nelson. Burial will be in Mount Tabor Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his mother, Patricia A. Thompson of the home; and a brother, Maurice Thompson of Cerro Gordo.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Westside Funeral Home in Tabor City.

Mrs. Michelle Rogers (Dated Friday, July 30, 1999)

SANFORD -- Mrs. Michelle Rogers, 31, of 412 Oakwood Ave. died Sunday in her home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter’s Holiness Church in Apex by elder Larry D. Richardson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Watson Mortuary.

Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband, Robert Rogers of Sanford; a son, Lorenzo Rogers of Sanford; two daughters, Rochelle Rogers and Robin Rogers, both of Sanford; her mother, Nancy Harris of Raleigh; a sister, Renee Harris of Raleigh; and three brothers, Jerome Harris of Raleigh and Willis Hinton and Neola Hinton, both of Sanford

The family will receive friends at the home.

Thomas M. ‘Mack’ Riddle (Dated Friday, July 30, 1999)

ROCKINGHAM -- Thomas McNair ‘‘Mack’’ Riddle, 75, of 106 Laurel Ledge died Wednesday in Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Mr. Riddle was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rockingham.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Buffalo Cemetery in Sanford by the Rev. Robert Flynn.

Mr. Riddle is survived by a brother, Robert C. ‘‘Bob’’ Riddle of Asheboro.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 410 E. Washington St., Rockingham, N.C. 28379.

Ms. Eula H. Phillips (Dated Friday, July 30, 1999)

SANFORD -- Ms. Eula Mae Holder Phillips, 78, of 1305 Bobolink Road died Wednesday in Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Pockett Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Burwell Shore. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Phillips is survived by a son, Eddie Phillips of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and three sisters, Bertha Grider of Henryville, Ind., and Mary Brooks and Genevieve Hughes, both of Sanford.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
