Mrs. Mary S. Nye (Dated Friday, July 30, 1999)
LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Mary Lois Shooter Nye, 75, of Lumberton died Thursday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Nye was a member of First Baptist Church. She worked for Sears for more than 35 years before retiring.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Meadowbrook Cemetery by Dr. William P. Tuck and the Rev. Joe K. Bounds.
Mrs. Nye is survived by a nephew; and two nieces.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Biggs Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Ms. Annie L. Mozingo (Dated Friday, July 30, 1999)
SELMA -- Ms. Annie Lee Mozingo, 82, of Selma died Wednesday.
Mrs. Mozingo was teacher for 43 years before retiring. For most of her career, she taught in Fayetteville schools.
A graveside service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. in Willowdale Cemetery in Goldsboro. Arrangements are being handled by Parrish Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mozingo is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Deborah M. Moore (Dated Friday, July 30, 1999)
BRONX, N.Y. -- Mrs. Deborah Ann McKiver Moore, 45, of Bronx, formerly of Elizabethtown, N.C., died Monday in Lebanon Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown by the Rev. Roland T. McKoy III. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Moore is survived by two sons, Jermaine McKiver of Bronx and Kevin Moore of Savannah, Ga.; her mother, Margaret Dorsey of Savannah; two sisters, Anita German and Monika Hall, both of Savannah; and her grandmother, Monnie McKiver of Elizabethtown.
The public will be received today from 1 to 6 p.m. at F.W. Newton & Sons Mortuary of Elizabethtown.
Bernice Melvin (Dated Friday, July 30, 1999)
CLINTON -- Bernice Melvin, 77, of 202 Weeks St. died Sunday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Union Grove Disciples Church of Christ by elder Ivan Green. Burial will be in the Howard family cemetery.
Mr. Melvin is survived by his wife, Atwood Melvin of Clinton; three sisters, Geneva Melvin and Ethel Williams, both of Clinton, and Sadie Bennett of Vineland, N.J.; and four brothers, Bobby Melvin of Clinton, Paul Melvin of Trenton, N.J., and Cleveland Melvin and James Melvin, both of Newark, N.J.
The public will be received today from 1 to 5:30 p.m. at Brock Memorial & Worley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cleo McDougald (Dated Friday, July 30, 1999)
ANGIER -- Mrs. Cleo McDougald, 56, of 207 S. Cross St. died Tuesday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Christ Holiness Church No. 4 by Bishop James Mitchell. Burial will be in McLean Cemetery in Bunnlevel. Arrangements are being handled by Dafford Funeral Home of Dunn.
Mrs. McDougald is survived by her husband, James C. McDougald of the home; two daughters, Terrie A. McDougald and Darlene Mitchell, both of Lillington; a son, Daniel B. McDougald of Lillington; two brothers, James F. Byrd and James L. Byrd, both of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Lenwood W. McCormick (Dated Friday, July 30, 1999)
RAEFORD -- Lenwood W. McCormick, 58, of 195 Azalea St. died Wednesday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Silver Grove Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. J. Warren Parsons. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Buie Funeral Home.
Mr. McCormick is survived by two brothers, George McCormick Jr. of Greensboro and Bobby McCormick of Raeford; and two sisters, Alice Holmes of Raeford and Bridgel Jacobs of Brown Summitt.

LAURINBURG -- Mrs. Jackie Dawn Locklear, 30, of 906 S. Main died Wednesday in her home.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Good News Chapel cemetery by the Rev. Simmie Barton.
Mrs. Locklear is survived by her husband, Steve Locklear of the home; a son, Stephen M. Locklear of the home; three daughters, Kimberly A. Locklear, Whitney L. Locklear and Tiffany D. Locklear, all of the home; a brother, Timmy Williams of Greensboro; and her maternal grandmother, Shirley McPherson of Laurel Hill.

FAIRMONT -- Ms. Etta B. Locklear, 78, of 13694 N.C. 41 South died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
Ms. Locklear was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Piney Grove Baptist Church by the Revs. Crafton Chavis and David Walker. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Ms. Locklear is survived by three sons, James H. Hunt and Leroy Locklear, both of Lumberton, and Samuel Locklear of Mableton, Ga.; seven daughters, Sarah Walker of Seward, Ark., Debra Hunt and Lucille Lowery, both of Pembroke, Linda Walters and Daphne Chavis, both of Fairmont, Lucy Locklear of Rowland and Sandra Eddings of Lumber Bridge; three sisters, Versie Darnell, Esther Hunt and Maitland Hunt, all of Fairmont; four half sisters, Docie L. Oxendine, Frances Hammonds and Carrie M. Hunt, all of Fairmont, and Kever Hunt of Philadelphia; two half brothers, Kelmer Hunt and Sanford Hunt, both of Fairmont; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. King was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. King is survived by two daughters, Ann K. Stephenson of Angier and Nancy K. Nelms of Garner; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ms. Frances B. Holbrook (Dated Friday, July 30, 1999)
SOUTHERN PINES -- Ms. Frances Folley Butler Holbrook, 89, of Southern Pines died Thursday in Penick Village.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Bethesda Presbyterian Church by Dr. Michal Hall. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Powell Funeral Home & Crematory.
Ms. Holbrook is survived by two sons, Paul C. Butler Jr. of Portsmouth, Va., and J. Alan Butler of Greensboro; a daughter, Jeanne F. Butler of Winston-Salem; a sister, Marcie McKeithan of Aberdeen; and seven grandchildren.

SPRING LAKE -- John A. Hemphill, 75, of Spring Lake died Sunday in Veterans Affairs Hospital in Durham.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Spring Lake Memorial Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. John McKoy Jr. Arrangements are being handled by Spring Lake Community Mortuary.
Mr. Hemphill is survived by seven daughters, Ella M. Freeman of Clinton, Md., Johnnie M. McNeil of Spring Lake, Willette Hemphill of Rock Hill, S.C., Barbara A. Neam of Forestville, Md., Patricia A. Hemphill and Janet Hemphill, both of Washington, D.C., and Jackie H. Francis of Temple Hills, Md.; three sons, James A. Hemphill of Washington, D.C., and John A. Hemphill III and William A. Hemphill, both of Baltimore; three sisters, Katie Crawford and Janie B. Hackett, both of Washington, D.C., and Bertha McQuiller of Rock Hill; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Frances Clark Giles, 77, of 230 Pinecrest Drive, Fayetteville, died Thursday in her home.
Mrs. Giles was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Highland Presbyterian Church chapel. Arrangements are being handled by Cape Fear Crematory.
Mrs. Giles is survived by two daughters, Bonnye York of Asheboro and Beverly Herbert of Decatur, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
