SPRING LAKE -- Paul Franklin Schoate, 68, of 106 New St. died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mr. Schoate was a retired farmer and painter. He was a member of the Tennessee National Guard.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Harvey L. Cashwell.
Mr. Schoate is survived by six sisters, Ruby L. Moon of Spring Lake, Mary Wilson, Betty Pack, Bonnie McQuaid and Judy, all of Huntsville, Ala., and Emilou of Lexington, Ky.; and a brother, Donald Schoate of Huntsville.
Mrs. Ludy M. Pate

RED SPRINGS -- James M. Patterson, 52, of 3738 Blue Springs Road died Saturday in his home.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Millside Holiness Church by the Revs. Oris McPhatter, W.K. Mitchell and S. Norman. Burial will be in Silver Grove Community Cemetery in Raeford.
Mr. Patterson is survived by a son, Charles Andrews of Red Springs; five daughters, Barbara McDonald of Fayetteville, Chaucre McRae of Baltimore and Mary Monroe, Ladonia Scott and Jackie McDaniel, all of Red Springs; and his mother, Ruth Patterson of Red Springs.
The public will be received today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Doby Funeral Home. Joseph R. Parrish BENSON -- Joseph Rupert Parrish, 77, of 1469 Johnston County Road died Tuesday in Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.
Mr. Parrish was a farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Ebenzer Presbyterian Church, American Legion Banner Post No. 109, Angier Masonic Lodge No. 686, the Scottish Rites and the Amran Shriners. Mr. Parrish was a 32nd degree Mason.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Ebenezer Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Warren Bock. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Devotional Gardens in Dunn.
Mr. Parrish is survived by his wife, Christine A. Parrish; three sons, Ronnie Parrish and Dwight Parrish, both of Angier, and Keith Parrish of Benson; a stepson, Stewart Akerman of Seattle; three sisters, Rebeth Mitchell and Joyce Carter, both of Angier, and Marva Whittington of Garner; a twin brother, Raeford Parrish of Angier; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home.

RED SPRINGS -- Ms. Edith W. McMillan, 85, of 106 Taylor St. died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Alloway Cemetery by the Rev. Stan Smith.
Ms. McMillan is survived by a son, Charles McIntyre of Lumberton; a daughter, Ann M. Britt of Ocean Isle Beach; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

WEST END -- Ms. Myrtle A. McKay, 97, of 108 Amberwood Court died Monday in St. Joseph of the Pines.
Ms. McKay was a nurse.

A graveside service was conducted at 4 p.m. Monday in Oxendine Cemetery by the Rev. Gary Strickland. Arrangements were handled by Locklear & Son Funeral Home of Pembroke.
Mr. Locklear is survived by two brothers, Lewis Locklear of Red Springs and Gerald Locklear of Baltimore; and three sisters, Mary F. Locklear of Pembroke, Evelyn Emanuel of Lumberton and Helen Chavis of Fayetteville.

Mr. Bryant is survived by his wife, Mary O. Bryant of Highland Park, Mich.; seven sons, Kenneth Bryant of Newton Grove, James O. Bryant of Detroit, William C. Bryant, David G. Bryant, Paul H. Bryant and Henry E. Bryant, all of Highland Park, and Johnnie G. Bryant of Battle Creek, Mich.; a daughter, Louise Bryant of Highland Park; a sister, Elouise B. King of Detroit; 16 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 25 step-great-grandchildren.
The public will be received Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Braddy was a Navy veteran. He was a retired farmer.

Mr. Braddy is survived by his wife, Patsy P. Braddy of Council; a daughter, R.B. ‘‘Amy’’ Stephens of Council; three brothers, Calvin Edwards of Goldsboro and Joe Edwards and Stephen Edwards, both of Tennessee; and two grandchildren.
