MAXTON -- Mrs. Meta Holmes Steele, 74, of 702 E. Central St. died Tuesday in Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.

Arrangements will be announced by Jackson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pauline H. Sessoms
(Dated April 7, 1999)
ROSEBORO -- Mrs. Pauline Hall Sessoms, 83, of 171 Buck Lane died Tuesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday in Butler Funeral Home by the Revs. Dennis Guy and Dennis Wright. Burial will be in Mill Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Sessoms is survived by two daughters, Dorothula S. Wooten of Newton Grove and Janet S. Latta of Rocky Mount; a son, Elwood ‘‘E.T.’’ Sessoms of Stedman; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Mill Creek Baptist Church building fund.

George G. Pope

LILLINGTON -- George Graylon Pope, 79, of Knollwood Retirement Center, formerly of Dunn, died Tuesday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Matthews Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church by the Revs. Jerome Pope and Jerome Edwards. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn.

Mr. Pope is survived by a brother, Benjamin Pope of Dunn; and three sisters, Margaret Bowden of Dunn, Marybelle Schnider of Allegan, Mich., and Josephine Blount of Erwin.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nancy P. Pisano
(Dated April 7, 1999)
LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Nancy Ann Pollard Pisano of 2405 Shaw Ave. died Monday in her home.

Mrs. Pisano was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was a teacher at Rowland Norment Elementary School in Lumberton and Union Elementary School in Pembroke before retiring.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Episcopal Church by Dr. Gary Noteboom.

Mrs. Pisano is survived by her husband, Richard C. Pisano of the home; a son, Mark C. Pisano of Holly Springs; a daughter, Gina N. Pisano of the home; a sister, Martha J. Shannon of Syracuse, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Biggs Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church altar guild, P.O. Box 1638, Lumberton, N.C. 28359; or to Hospice of Robeson, 2300 N. Pine St., Lumberton, N.C. 28358.

Mrs. Shirley J. Oster

HOPE MILLS -- Mrs. Shirley J. Oster, 62, of 424 Palmerland Drive died Monday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Reeves Funeral Home by the Rev. Bobby Murray. Burial will be in Cross Creek Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Oster is survived by her husband, Conrad Oster; two daughters, Nancy Carpenter and Karen Hall, both of Hope Mills; a son, Conrad Oster Jr. of Hope Mills; a sister, Ethel Jester of Frederica, Del.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lillian Sealey Morgan, 89, of 1931 Ireland Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Morgan was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Fairmont.

Mrs. Morgan is survived by a daughter, Sara B. Davis of Fayetteville; two sons, Major Morgan of Fayetteville and Tom Morgan of Thomasville; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jessie M. Martin

ROCKINGHAM -- Mrs. Jessie Mae Martin, 74, of 161 Allen Road died Sunday in Hamlet Hospital in Hamlet.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Sandy Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack Poe. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by McNeill Funerals.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband, Tillman Martin of Rockingham; and a brother, Walter Allen of Laurinburg.

Elvis G. Locklear

LUMBERTON -- Elvis Gene Locklear, 20, of 4193 Deep Branch Road died Sunday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Preston Gospel Chapel in Pembroke by the Rev. Timmy Hunt. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Locklear is survived by Jessica Lowery of the home; a son, Justin Lowery of the home; his mother, Rose M. Locklear of the home; two brothers, Anthony Locklear and Samuel Locklear, both of Lumberton; and two sisters, Joyce M. Locklear of Lumberton and Charlene Locklear of Pembroke.

Mrs. Kathleen C. Lambert

LUMBERTON -- Mrs. Kathleen Carter ‘‘Cat’’ Lambert, 55, of 2202 Old Allenton Road died Monday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday in Bayside Free Will Baptist Church by the Revs. Johnny Chavis and James Cummings. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Lambert is survived by her husband, Edward Lambert of the home; three brothers, George C. Lambert of Laurinburg and Thomas Carter and Roger D. Carter, both of Lumberton; and two sisters, Barbara J. Chavis of Lumberton and Melissa A. Goins of Laurinburg.

Clemmie L. Jones Sr.

Clemmie Lee Jones Sr., 68, of 237 Chickasaw Road, Fayetteville, died Friday in his home.

A graveside service will be conducted at noon Thursday in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. Arrangements are being handled by Wiseman Mortuary.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Denise Jones of Philadelphia; two daughters, Pauline J. Byrd of Hope Mills and Wanda Williams of Fayetteville; two sons, Clemmie L. Jones Jr. of Fayetteville and Clemmon Jones of Columbus, Ga.; a brother, J.B. Jones of Georgia; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 2356 Sandhill Road.

John Herring

NEWBURGH, N.Y. -- John Herring, 68, of 193 First St., formerly of Rose Hill, N.C., died Sunday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hayes Chapel Baptist Church in Rose Hill by the Rev. Zebedee C. Herring. Burial will be in Robinson Cemetery.

Mr. Herring is survived by four daughters, Geraldine Herring, Elmore H. Cushnie and Charlena B. Herring, all of Newburgh, and Dorthine Herring of Middletown; a sister, Della M. Herring of Newburgh; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Summerville-Boykin Mortuary in Garland, N.C., and at other times at the home of Senora Herring, 2697 Magnolia-Lisbon Road, Rose Hill.

Ms. Lura Cynthia Hedgepeth, 88, of Route 7, Fayetteville, died Monday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Ms. Hedgepeth is survived by a brother, Joseph Hedgepeth of Fayetteville.

The public will be received today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. George was a clothing designer.

The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home in Manahawkin, N.J. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx, N.Y.

Mr. George is survived by his wife, Nanette W. George of Sanford; and a son, Roy S. George Jr. of Manahawkin.

Mrs. Helen W. Forlini

OVIEDO, Fla. -- Mrs. Helen Waddell Forlini, 78, of Oviedo, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Monday.
