RALEIGH -- Clarence Clifton McGregor Jr., 73, of 615 Quarry St., formerly of Raeford, died Saturday in Wake Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Silver Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Raeford by the Revs. James W. Parsons and W.K. Mitchell. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. McGregor is survived by his wife, Helen V. McGregor of Raeford; three sons, Clarence C. McGregor III of Boston and Rickie McGregor and Charlie Baker, both of Raleigh; five sisters, Lula Gillespie of Irvington , N.J., Sadie Morrison of Jackson Hamlet and Ruth Patterson, Maxine Parker and Helen Thomas, all of Raeford; and several grandchildren.

The public will be received today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Doby Funeral Home.

John E. McDonnell

BEAR CREEK -- John Edward McDonnell, 78, of 1329 Vernie Phillips Road died Monday in Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Stephen Catholic Church by the Rev. John Forbes. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. McDonnell is survived by his wife, Mary J. McDonnell of Bear Creek; a daughter, Pat McDonnell of Aquebogue, N.Y.; two sons, Bob McDonnell of Purcell, Okla., and Jim McDonnell of Middle Island, N.Y.; a brother, Bernard McDonnell of Peth Page, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today from 1 to 3 p.m. and tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lanie B. McAuley

OLIVIA -- Mrs. Lanie B. McAuley, 82, of 9424 Murchisontown Road died Tuesday in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Murchison Chapel AME Zion Church by the Rev. Ronald McCrowe. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. McAuley is survived by six sons, William McAuley, Charles McAuley, Levi McAuley, Clifton McAuley, John McAuley and Wilson McAuley, all of Sanford; four daughters, Lucille Hamer, JoAnna Akins, Josephine Allen and Shirley McAuley, all of Sanford; four sisters, Ollie McAuley, Bertha McGilvary and Maggie Clemons, all of Sanford, and Rosa Bell of Boston; two brothers, John Dowdy of New York and Woodrow Dowdy of Boston; 33 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Watson Mortuary.

Ms. Mary J. Long

CLINTON -- Ms. Mary Jane Jackson Long, 84, of 213 Forest Trail Retirement Center died Tuesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Long was a member of McGee United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Garland Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church by the Revs. Fred Pleasant, Clyde Shelton and Dewey Ball. Burial will be in McGee United Methodist Church cemetery.

Ms. Long is survived by a son, Craven Long of Garland; a sister, Mattie Holland of Clinton; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Royal-Hall Funeral Home.

Ms. Lizzie Locklear

MAXTON -- Ms. Lizzie Locklear, 83, of 1166 Cabinet Shop Road died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Arrangements will be announced by Thompson’s Funeral Home of Pembroke.

Rev. M.L. Haywood

The Rev. M.L. ‘‘Buddy’’ Haywood, 75, of 743 Tupelo Circle, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Rev. Haywood was a Baptist minister for 50 years before retiring. He was a Marine veteran of World War II.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in White Oak Baptist Church by the Rev. Davis Benton. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Rev. Haywood is survived by three daughters, Nancy Deason of Peachland, Gail Cabe of Fayetteville and Terry Griffin of Yulee, Fla.; four brothers, Reid Haywood, Richard Haywood, Donald Haywood and Ronald Haywood; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Richard A. Grosclaude

Richard A. Grosclaude, 56, of 2324 Wilmington Highway, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Mr. Grosclaude was an Air Force veteran.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake by Father Edward J. Kita. Arrangements are being handled by Highland Funeral Service & Crematory.

Mr. Grosclaude is survived by his mother, Mary Grosclaude of Boca Raton, Fla.; and a brother, Charles E. Grosclaude of Coral Springs, Fla.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Maurice W. Graham Jr.

RALEIGH -- Maurice Wayne Graham Jr., 27, of 5608 Continental Way, formerly of Fayetteville, died Tuesday.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Lock’s Creek AME Zion Church in Vander by the Rev. Robert McCall. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Graham is survived by his parents, Maurice and Etrice Graham Sr. of Raleigh; a sister, Akila Graham of Raleigh; his maternal grandmother, Nora Johnson of Fayetteville; his paternal grandparents, Calvin and Ernestine Graham of Stedman; and his paternal great-grandmother, Lillian Graham of Wade.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Wiseman Mortuary in Fayetteville and at other times times at the home of Calvin and Ernestine Graham, Route 2, Box 243, Stedman.

Mrs. Reba B. Godwin

CERRO GORDO -- Mrs. Reba Inez Blackwell Godwin, 76, of Pages Mill Road died Tuesday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Cedar Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Vernon Williamson. Burial will be in Gowan Cemetery.

Mrs. Godwin is survived by three daughters, Iris G. Rash of Long Beach, Elfrida G. Carver of Seneca, S.C., and Myra G. Malpass of Delco; three sisters, Minta Edwards of Whiteville, Martha Powell of Wilmington and Gladys Griffin of Maitland, Fla.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Worthington Funeral Home.

Alexander V. Curameng

Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class Alexander V. Curameng, 48, of 944 Brookridge Drive, Fayetteville, died Tuesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

During his military career, Mr. Curameng served in Grenada, Panama and the Persian Gulf War.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Main Post Chapel on Fort Bragg. Burial with military honors will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Curameng is survived by his wife, Gloria T. Curameng of the home; a daughter, Kathleen G. Curameng of the home; a son, David Curameng of the home; his mother, Faustina Curameng of Fort Washington, Md.; a sister, Evelyn Marcelo of Alberta, Canada; and a brother, Napoleon Curameng of Fort Washington.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

LAURINBURG -- Ms. Margaret Butler, 59, of 812 Beech St. died Wednesday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Revs. Wade Outlaw and Jimmy Porter. Burial will be in Scotland Cemetery.

Ms. Butler is survived by three sons, Richard Butler and Gary Butler, both of Laurinburg, and James Butler of Laurel Hill; two daughters, Lou Lou Butler of Laurinburg and Wanda Roller of the home; a brother, Zeb Butler of Laurinburg; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Service.

Ms. Jacquelynn Brisson

GARLAND -- Ms. Jacquelynn Brisson, 42, of Garland died Wednesday in Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Clinton Cemetery by Dr. Homer Morris. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Ms. Brisson is survived by her father, James W. Brisson of Clayton; her mother and stepfather, Claire M. and Stacy A. Butler of Clinton; and a sister, Julie A. Raiff of New Jersey.

The family will receive friends at the home of Claire Butler, 420 LaFayette St., Clinton.

Kovari T. Bethea

FAIR BLUFF -- The Rev. Claire C. Baker, 75, of 702 Conway Road died Monday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

Rev. Baker was a minister for 50 years.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Cerro Gordo Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Collins. Burial will be in Cherry Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

Baker is survived by his wife, Annabelle Oswalt; two daughters, Claire Sizemore of Greenville, S.C., and Mary Barlow of Kentucky; three sons, Allen Baker of Texas, David Baker of Fair Bluff and Kenneth Baker of Cerro Gordo; a sister, Helen J. Baker of Brandenton, Fla.; two brothers, Jim Baker of Brandenton and Gayle Baker of Lloydsburg, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Meares Funeral Home.

Mrs. Katie L. Boone

ROSEBORO -- Mrs. Katie L. Boone, 78, of 12772 Boykin Bridge Road died Saturday in Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Robinson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Curtis Barginere. Burial will be in Boone Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Robinson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Boone is survived by her husband, Pressie Boone; five daughters, Mattie Lamb of Clinton, Perline McPhail of Forestville, Md., Ruby Boone of the home, Katie A. Boone of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Hilda Fort of Stedman; six sons, Robert Boone of Brooklyn, Preston Boone Jr. of Mount Rainier, Md., Lorenza Boone Sr. of Roseboro, Harry T. Boone of St. Paul, Minn., Larry Boone of Garner and Alfonza Boone of Clinton; two sisters, Retha Howard of Roseboro and Flossie Devane of Newburgh, N.Y.; 46 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
