Jamie C. Loy Jr.

ROBBINS -- Jamie Clifford Loy Jr., 83, of 241 N. Frye St. died Sunday in his home.

Mr. Loy was a member of First Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was an insurance agent before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Ernest Ferrell. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

Mr. Loy is survived by his wife, Hariette M. Loy of the home; a daughter, Amie L. Ryan of Wilmington; two sons, George M. Loy of Sugar Land, Texas, and Lynn M. Loy of Robbins; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 400, Robbins, N.C. 27325.

Gyneth B. Stephens
(Dated Tuesday, November 2, 1999)

SANFORD -- Ms. Gyneth Delores Brimberry Stephens, 84, of 3905 Clemmons Road died Sunday in Meadowbrook Manor of Clemmons.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Shallow Well United Church of Christ by the Revs. Donald R. Thompson and Sandra Jordan. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ms. Stephens is survived by two daughters, Betty A. Davis of Warner Robins, Ga., and Carol A. Swain of Winston-Salem; a son, Lonnie D. Snodgrass of Maryland; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Dorothy E. Wesley (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

Mrs. Dorothy Evans Wesley, 78, of 810 Commerce St., Fayetteville, died Sunday in her home.

Mrs. Wesley worked at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center as a nurse before retiring.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Ann’s Catholic Church by Father Omoviekovwa Nakireru. Burial will be in Northside Cemetery.

Mrs. Wesley is survived by three daughters, Carmelita Wesley and Doretha Johnson, both of Fayetteville, and Cynthia Davis of Winston-Salem; a sister, Flora Graham of Fayetteville; a brother, Norris Evans of Fayetteville; a grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.

The public will be received Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

The rosary will be recited Friday from 5 to 6 p.m. at the church.

A wake will be held Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Cynthia J. Townsend (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

FAIRMONT -- Ms. Cynthia Jean Townsend, 43, of 2061 Nevada St. died Monday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary Holiness Church in Lumberton by Bishop John D. Wesley. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.

Ms. Townsend is survived by her parents, Leroy and Thelma Townsend of Lumberton; six sisters, Amanda Townsend of the home, Brenda McNeil of Dillon, S.C., Linda Freeman, Harriett Clemons, Thelma Huggins and Jacqueline Townsend, all of Lumberton; a brother, Leroy Townsend Jr. of Bayboro; and her maternal grandparents, Fred and Mamie Hopkins of Orrum.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home.

Robert T. Smith (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

CAMERON -- Robert Tracy Smith, 65, of 236 Lillian Drive died Tuesday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Mount Pleasant United Church of Christ by the Rev. Dan Smith and Dr. Winfred Bray. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Helen M. Smith; four daughters, Billie Smith and Rhonda Kelly, both of Sanford, Sherry Chatfield of Southern Pines and Michelle Dull of Vass; two sons, Ronnie Smith of Vass and Ricky Smith of Dunn; his mother, Agnes M. Smith of Carthage; three sisters, Catherine Scott of De Bary, Fla., Ruth Welch of Orange Park, Fla., and Nellie Hollingsworth of Fayetteville; three brothers, J.C. Smith of Milwaukee, Harry Smith of Blairsville, Ga., and Larry Smith of Vass; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Ida W. Singleton (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

RED SPRINGS -- Ms. Ida W. Singleton, 93, of 811 W. Second Ave. died Wednesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Arrangements will be announced by Crumpler Funeral Home.

John W. Roffe (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

SOUTHERN PINES -- John W. Roffe, 86, of Southern Pines died Wednesday.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Powell Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden, Tenn.

Mr. Roffe is survived by his wife, Marjorie B. Roffe of Southern Pines; a brother, James C. Roffe of Aurora, Ohio; and a sister, Mary Lawler of Stillman Valley, Ill.

Anna Pittman (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

LUMBERTON -- Ms. Anna Pittman, 90, of 1170 Linkhaw Road died Sunday in Carrolton Nursing Center.

Ms. Pittman was a member of East Lumberton Church of God.

The funeral will be conducted at 7:30 tonight in East Lumberton Church of God by the Revs. Jim Blackwell and Bernie Bailey. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in New Hollywood Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Biggs Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 9 at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Church of God Home for Children, 3485 Orphanage Circle, Concord, N.C. 28027.

Kathryne B. Murphy (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Mrs. Kathryne Burke Murphy of Buffalo, formerly of McCain, N.C., died Friday.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Avery’s Chapel Baptist Church in Hoke County, N.C., by the Rev. Stanley Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Morris Funeral Home of Laurinburg, N.C.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by two sons, David L. Murphy and William T. Murphy, both of Buffalo; a daughter, Beatrice C. Murphy of Pensacola, Fla.; and a sister, Queen E. Patterson of Raeford, N.C.

The family will receive friends Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

Hannah C. McKiver (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

Mrs. Hannah Campbell McKiver, 85, of 248 Robeson St., Fayetteville, died Monday in Village Green Care Center.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Cureton L. Johnson. Burial will be in Northside Cemetery.

Mrs. McKiver is survived by two sisters, Carrie Slater and Flossie Graham, both of Fayetteville.

The public will be received today from 1 to 8 p.m. at Wiseman Mortuary.

The family will receive friends at the home of Harrison Campbell, 5403 Brookfield Road.

RIVERDALE, Md. -- Sylvester ‘‘Bro’’ McDougald, 58, of Riverdale, formerly of Sanford, N.C., died Tuesday.

Arrangements will be announced by Horton Funeral Home.

Marian A. Lowe (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

PINEHURST -- Ms. Marian Arena Lowe, 90, of Pinehurst died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Boles Funeral Home chapel by Chaplain Edward Galloway.

Ms. Lowe is survived by three daughters, Sandra Rognon of Pinehurst and Jacqueline Rose and Shirley Blumburg, both of California; two brothers, Sam Arena and Angelo Arena, both of California; and a sister, Sally Boyd of California.

Mary V. Johnson (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

LUMBERTON -- Ms. Mary Vereen Johnson, 75, of 507 Edens Ave. died Tuesday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Maultsby & Sons Funeral Home.

Redell Jacobs (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

BOLTON -- Redell Jacobs, 67, of 272 Jacobs Loop Road died Tuesday in Cape Fear Hospital in Wilmington.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in New Hope Baptist Church by the Revs. W.L. Ammons, Don Carter and Michael Jacobs. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Jacobs is survived by his wife, Ammretha F. Jacobs of Bolton; a son, Waitues C. Jacobs of Bolton; a daughter, Teresa Jacobs of Bolton; three sisters, Lorrine Jacobs of Bolton, Mary F. Owens of Fayetteville and Verline Keyser of Baltimore; two brothers, Velton Jacobs and Jasper Jacobs, both of Bolton; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Peacock’s Chapel in the Pines.

Marion S. Hunt (Dated Thursday, November 4, 1999 )

MAITLAND, Fla. -- Mrs. Marion S. Hunt, 92, of Maitland, formerly of Fayetteville, N.C., died Saturday.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Northwood Cemetery in Southport, N.C. Arrangements are being handled by Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home of Supply, N.C.

Mrs. Hunt is survived by a sister, Ellen Collier of Greensboro, N.C.
