Frederick A. Koch (Dated Tuesday, November 9, 1999 )

SOUTHERN PINES -- Monsignor Frederick Augustin Koch, 83, of Southern Pines died Sunday in St. Joseph of the Pines Health Care Center.

Monsignor Koch was an ordained Priest. He was the pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton Grove and director of the Diocesan Missionary Apostolate. He formerly was the pastor of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fayetteville and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst. He was a diocesan consular for 20 years and the director of communications for 18 years. In 1974, he was honored by Pope Paul VI, who named him honorary Prelate of His Holiness with the title of Reverend Monsignor.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst. Burial will be in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church cemetery in Newton Grove. Arrangements are being handled by Powell Funeral Home and Crematory.

Monsignor Koch is survived by a sister, Marie Koch of Southern Pines.

The public will be received today from noon to 4:30 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and from 5 to 9 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

A prayer service will be held tonight at 7 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mary T. Mincey (Dated Tuesday, November 9, 1999 )

FAIR BLUFF -- Mrs. Mary Alice Turner Mincey, 93, of Fair Bluff died Monday in Loris Community Hospital in Loris, S.C.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Worthington Funeral Home by the Rev. Elmore Strickland. Burial will be in Meares Cemetery in Cerro Gordo.

Mrs. Mincey is survived by three daughters, Hazel Barnes of Fair Bluff, Marvedeen Huskey of Newport News, Va., and Elizabeth Strickland of Cerro Gordo; two sons, Shelton M. Turner of Carlyle, Ky., and Charles L. Turner of Blacksburg, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

John A. Hines (Dated Tuesday, November 9, 1999 )

DUBLIN -- John Anderson Hines, 71, of 4-D Rosewood Apartment died Saturday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mr. Hines is survived by a sister, Virginia Skinner of Wilson.

Arrangements are being handled by Lewis-Bowen Funeral Home.

Franklin R. Moore (Dated Tuesday, November 9, 1999 )

Franklin Roosevelt Moore, 66, of 1076 Progress St., Fayetteville, died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Starling family cemetery in Falcon.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Mary Tripp of the home; two daughters, Frances Tripp-Moore and Lisa Tripp-Moore, both of the home; a stepdaughter, Sherry Lecompte of Hope Mills; four stepsons, Roger Tripp and Roy Tripp, both of Gray’s Creek, Randy Tripp of Raeford and Ray Tripp of Fayetteville; four brothers, Archie Moore of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Robert Moore, Joseph Moore and Floyd Moore, all of Hope Mills; three sisters, Vertie Craig of Kennerdell, Pa., Nancy Peters of Hope Mills and Faye Ramaley of Albany, N.Y.; 20 step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home in Hope Mills.

Phyllis D. Hodges (Dated Tuesday, November 9, 1999 )

Mrs. Phyllis Dill Hodges, 57, of 3502 Seawell St., Fayetteville, died Sunday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel by Dr. Ronald Loftis. Burial will be in Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Hodges is survived by her husband, Eddie Hodges of the home; two sons, Mitchell Hodges of Atlanta and Thomas Hodges of Fayetteville; two daughters, Delores Powell of Clarksville, Tenn., and Joyce Mitchell of Spring Lake; a brother, Daniel McDonald of Harrodsburg, Ky.; two sisters, Joyce Hinson of Wilmington and Linda Crisp of Harrodsburg; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Genevieve B. Lemire (Dated Tuesday, November 9, 1999 )

Mrs. Genevieve B. Lemire, 78, of 310 Barkley Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in her home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake by Father Corbin Ketchersid.

Mrs. Lemire is survived by her husband, Alfred J. Lemire of the home; a daughter, Jennifer L. Blaskow of University City, Pa.; a son, Jonathan A. Lemire of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Raymond Bartlett of Syracuse, N.Y.; a sister, Elinore Ayers of Newington, Conn.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cumberland County, 235 N. McPherson Church Road, Fayetteville, N.C. 28303.

Mary T. Moss (Dated Tuesday, November 9, 1999 )

Mrs. Mary Maggieline Tyler Moss, 56, of 1783 Cardinal Circle, Fayetteville, died Sunday in her home.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Eastside Church of God by the Revs. James E. Hunt and Craig Jones. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Moss is survived by a son, Gary E. Jackson of Fayetteville; two daughters, Diana Jackson and Melissa J. Norris, both of Fayetteville; her parents, Willliam E. and Gertrude Tyler of Fayetteville; two brothers, Warren Tyler and Miranda Tyler, both of Fayetteville; two sisters, Marusha Tyler of Fayetteville and Patricia Jackson of Columbus, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.

Bronnie M. Bullard (Dated Tuesday, November 9, 1999 )

CERRO GORDO -- Bronnie Max Bullard, 56, of 2626 Main St. died Sunday in Columbus County Hospital in Whiteville.

Mr. Bullard was an Army veteran.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Meares Funeral Home by the Rev. Ken Baker. Burial will be in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Bullard is survived by three daughters, Amy Hammond of Bladenboro and Shannon Bullard and Bonnie Bullard, both of Cerro Gordo; his mother, Emily N. Bullard of Cerro Gordo; a sister, Nancy Klatt of Chapel Hill; a brother, Charles Bullard of Cerro Gordo; and a grandchild.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Alberta Benton (Dated Wednesday, November 10, 1999 )

FREMONT -- Mrs. Alberta Benton, 76, of Fremont died Monday in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lewis Funeral Home in Bladenboro by the Rev. Bobby Carden. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery.

Among Mrs. Benton’s survivors are two stepchildren, Gloris Inman and Curtis Benton, both of Bladenboro.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Bertie S. Arnold (Dated Wednesday, November 10, 1999 )

SANFORD -- Mrs. Bertie Lee Sauls Arnold, 70, of 1226 Blacks Chapel Road died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Betty Sherrod. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.

Mrs. Arnold is survived by a daughter, Donna A. Marsh of Sanford; a brother, Dana M. Sauls of Vass; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Jarman A. Waddell (Dated Wednesday, November 10, 1999 )

DUNN -- Jarman Alton Waddell, 91, of 95 Hope Lane died Tuesday in Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Waddell was a retired farmer.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rose & Graham Funeral Home chapel in Benson by the Rev. Stoney Chance and James McLamb. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Waddell is survived by a son, Billy Waddell of Dunn; two grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lola Harris (Dated Wednesday, November 10, 1999 )

MARSTON -- Mrs. Lola Harris, 92, of Route 1 Palmer Road died Monday in FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Arrangements will be announced by Morris Funeral Home.

Eula Young (Dated Wednesday, November 10, 1999 )

RIEGELWOOD -- Mrs. Eula Young, 72, of Riegelwood died Sunday in Premier Living in Lake Waccamaw.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Graham Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial will be in Graham Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Young is survived by a daughter, Lucy Baker of Phoenix; a son, Alden Young of Riegelwood; four sisters, Thelma Smith and Hilda Smith, both of Linden, N.J., Hazel Gore of Supply and Lottie Coleman of Bronx, N.Y.; and three brothers, Bennie Graham of Newark, N.J., Jeddie Graham of East Orange, N.J., and Walster Graham of Riegelwood.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home chapel in Whiteville.

Arthur B. Williams (Dated Wednesday, November 10, 1999 )

HOPE MILLS -- Arthur Bill Williams, 81, of 5609 Muscat Road died Saturday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Mr. Williams was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Union Oak AME Church and was a retired chef.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hamilton-Porter Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in the Hodges family cemetery.

Mr. Williams is survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Braswell, 644 Hilley St.
