SANFORD -- Ms. Marilyn W. Oldham of Sanford died Sunday.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bethlehem United Methodist Church cemetery by the Revs. Al Kimmel and Wayne Rigney.

Ms. Oldham is survived by a daughter, Kim O. Love of Sanford; a brother, John Wilkie Jr. of Amarillo, Texas; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at Rogers-Pickard Funeral Home.

Earl Locklear (Dated Tuesday, October 26, 1999 )

CHARLOTTE -- Earl Locklear of 300-D Hoskins Mill Lane, formerly of Laurinburg, died Monday in his home.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Revs. Jimmy Porter and Wade Outlaw. Burial will be in Scotland Cemetery.

Mr. Locklear is survived by five children, Earl N. Locklear Jr. of Dallas, Tasha Locklear and Chasty Locklear, both of Kannapolis, Daniel Locklear of Charlotte and Kiesha Locklear of Maxton; his mother, Eulah M. Locklear of Laurinburg; his father, Willie F. Hunt of Lexington; 12 sisters, Linda Lewis, Theresa Smiling, Mary H. Oxendine and Sandra Hunt, all of Maxton, Vickie Freeman, Regina Locklear, Joyce Strickland and Phyllis Locklear, all of Laurinburg, Sylvia Faye and Teresa Engelhardt, both of Gibson, Geraldine Calcutt of Greensboro and Angel Hunt of Lexington; 13 brothers, Stacy Hunt and Carsee Hunt, both of Maxton, Clayton Hunt of Pembroke, Frank J. Hunt of Huntersville, Carlre Locklear Jr. and Kenneth Locklear, both of Charlotte, Donald Locklear of Rockingham, and Micheal Locklear, Mark Locklear, Eric Locklear, Phillip Locklear, Brian Locklear and Randy Locklear, all of Laurinburg.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Butler Funeral Service.

WEST END -- Ted Tibbals, 85, of 104 Bunside Court died Wednesday in his home.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in his home. Arrangements are being handled by Boles Funeral Home of Seven Lakes.

Mr. Tibbals is survived by his wife, Sue Tibbals of West End; a son, Edward C. Tibbals Jr. of Thomasville; a brother, Cyrus F. Tibbals III of Greenville, N.Y.; a sister, Cara E. Woolley of Whiting, N.J.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to FirstHealth Hospice, P.O. Box 1956, Pinehurst, N.C. 28370.

Dr. Horace K. Thompson (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

WILMINGTON -- Dr. Horace Kent Thompson of 1553 Hawthorne Road died Friday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Andrews Mortuary Market Street chapel by Dr. Douglas Vaughan. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

Among Dr. Thompson’s survivors is a son, Horace K. Thompson Jr. of Fayetteville.

Mrs. Gertrude Schofield (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

Mrs. Gertrude Schofield, 80, of 723 Commerce St., Fayetteville, died Friday in IHS of Fayetteville.

Arrangements will be announced by Wiseman Mortuary.

Mrs. Maude McGowan (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

MOUNT OLIVE -- Mrs. Maude McGowan, 95, of Mount Olive died Friday in Sunrise Nursing Center.

Mrs. McGowan was a member of Masonboro Baptist Church. She was a clerk for Atlantic Coast Lines before retiring.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in Masonboro Baptist Church in Wilmington by the Revs. Ron Glover and Mike Taylor. Arrangements are being handled by Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Archie Locklear (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

MAXTON -- Archie Locklear, 73, of 3669 Elrod Road died Friday in his home.

Arrangements will be announced by Locklear & Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nora L. Little (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

ROCKINGHAM -- Mrs. Nora Lee Little, 78, of 164 Patterson Road died Monday.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Philadelphia United Methodist Church by the Rev. Theresa Lawrence. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Little is survived by a son, Milton Little of Rockingham; a daughter, Barbara A. Little of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Jessie J. Covington of Rockingham; and two sisters, Marece Wall and Bessie J. Douglas, both of Rockingham.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at McEachern Funeral Home.

Delton Hunt (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

FAIRMONT -- Delton Hunt, 53, of 923 Ward Store Road died Thursday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mr. Hunt worked the Lumberton maintenance department.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Floyd Funeral Services chapel by the Revs. Johnie Chavis and Crafton Chavis. A private burial will be held.

Mr. Hunt is survived by his wife, Donnie H. Hunt of the home; two stepsons, Steve Hunt and Alfred R. Hunt, both of Fairmont; his mother, Della L. Hunt of Fairmont; six brothers, Elijah Hunt of Beaufort, Elisha Hunt and Robert Hunt, both of Fairmont, Elmer Hunt Jr. of Harrisburg, Charles V. Hunt of Charlotte and James E. Hunt of Rowland; and four sisters, Janet Hammond of Fairmont, Queen H. Sweat of Dillon, S.C., Myrtle Hunt of Charlotte and Rena M. Taylor of West Columbia, S.C.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

Gary L. Hardin (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

FAIRMONT -- Gary Lendel Hardin, 73, of 2329 Hardin Farms Road died Friday in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.

Mr. Hardin was a Navy veteran. He was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. He was the principal of Evergreen Elementary School for 31 years before retiring. Mr. Hardin was a member of the N.C. Association of School Administrators.

A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Bethesda United Methodist Church cemetery in Orrum by the Rev. Richard Sharp.

Mr. Hardin is survived by his wife, Doris N. Hardin of the home; a son, Curtis Hardin of the home; two brothers, C. Lamon Hardin and Felix Hardin, both of Fairmont; and a sister, Geraldine H. Beard of Raleigh.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Floyd Funeral Services.

Mrs. Christine R. Grange (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

RIEGELWOOD -- Mrs. Christine R. Grange, 61, of 7900 Old Stage Highway died Wednesday in New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Carver’s Creek AME Zion Church by the Rev. Henry Epps. Burial will be in Carver’s Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Grange is survived by her husband, James O. Grange; a daughter, Katrina Peterson; a son, James K. Grange; five sisters, Sadie Corbett, Iris Russell, Marie Miller, Deloris Goins and Leanna Mans; and four brothers, Charles Beatty, Matthew Beatty, Clemon Russ and Isaiah Russ.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at Peoples Funeral Home chapel in Whiteville.

Mrs. Julia M. Freeman (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

GIBSON -- Mrs. Julia Mae Freeman, 95, of Gibson Village Apartments died Thursday in her home.

Mrs. Freeman was a member of Springfield Church of God. She was an inspector with JP Stevens before retiring.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Springfield Church of God by the Revs. Dan Carter and David Shoemake. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.

Mrs. Freeman is survived by three sons, W.J. Freeman, Boyd Freeman and Clyde Freeman, all of Gibson; two daughters, Elise Walters of Gibson and Donnie Stanton of Laurel Hill; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McDougald Funeral Home in Laurel Hill.

PINEHURST -- Mrs. Zelphine Flowers of Pinehurst Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Southern Pines, died Friday.

Mrs. Julia W. Fisher (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

FLORENCE, S.C. -- Mrs. Julia Katherine Watson Fisher, 73, of Florence, formerly of Cumberland County, N.C., died Thursday in Darlington Hospital.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Florence Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fisher is survived by her husband, George Fisher of Florence; two sisters, Agnes McQueen of Red Springs, N.C., and Bessie Smith of Lumber Bridge, N.C.; two brothers, Franklin Watson of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Seavy Watson of Ashland, Va.; and two grandsons.

Lawrence S. Edwards (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- Lawrence S. Edwards, 42, of Englewood, formerly of Salemburg, N.C., died Tuesday in Englewood Hospital.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Tucker & Sons Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville, N.C. Burial will be in Rockfish Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

Mr. Edwards is survived by three sons, Lawrence Harding of Bronx, N.Y., Daveion Edwards of Englewood and William Wingate of New York; a daughter, Shatia Edwards of Englewood; his mother, Mary T. Edwards of Englewood; a sister, Margaret Tucker of Englewood; and a brother, Dan Edwards Jr. of Jersey City.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.

BALTIMORE -- Ernest Lee Durant, 69, of Baltimore, formerly of Fairmont, N.C., died Friday in Saint Agnes Hospital.

Robert L. Capwell (Dated Saturday, June 19, 1999)

Retired Army Staff Sgt. Robert Leslie Capwell, 49, of 258 Brewster Drive, Fayetteville, died Wednesday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Capwell was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Adcock Funeral Home chapel in Spring Lake by the Rev. Jim Cook and Chaplain Charles Kuhlman. Burial will be in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

Mr. Capwell is survived by his wife, Kyong M. Capwell of Fayetteville; a son, Robert D. Capwell of Fayetteville; and five sisters, Irene Major of Allentown, Pa., Jane Gula and Shirley Noon, both of Dallas, Pa., Edith Mitchell of Manassas, Va., and Barbara Ward of Randolph, N.J.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
